July 2019 NPD: Madden NFL 20 Enters the Red Zone

Console hardware sales were down 22 per cent year-over-year in July 2019, as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One continue to grow a little long in the tooth. Sony’s pricing stubbornness has allowed the Nintendo Switch to comfortably top the console charts, which is the only system to experience growth so far this year.

It wasn’t a particularly remarkable month for the PS4 in terms of software either, with Madden NFL 20 topping the charts and Marvel’s Spider-Man continuing to stick around. Other than that, the basic black DualShock 4 remains the best-selling accessory of the year, and well that’s your lot. New systems will spice things up next year, but expect a quiet 12 months ahead.
