Are you feeling lucky? You may want to check your emails regardless, because Sony is sending out free copies of the absurdly good Astro Bot Rescue Mission to select PlayStation 4 fans. It’s unclear whether this goodie is reserved for PlayStation VR owners, but we’d recommend you rifle through your inbox regardless to see if you’ve got a code.
After all, Japan Studio’s cutesy virtual reality platformer was one of the standout releases of 2018, and a bona fide Game of the Year contender. “Stunning presentation elevated by insanely good animation ensure that you always feel present in the release’s virtual world, while tight controls and genuinely clever level design will keep you engaged,” we wrote in our review.
How many of you got a free copy, then? Let us know in the comments section below.

In all honesty, it would be pointless to send one to me. It would make sense to give it to PSVR users - especially after investing in the headset and any other peripherals but I can also see quite a few of those owning it too.
I think it would make more sense though to add it to next month's PS+ rewards...
I've checked my e-mail three times already, and I got nothing lol.
I got excited until I noticed that it is a PSVR game and I don't like PSVR, I wonder if next generation is gonna completely die
@GKO900 It won't.
I got a PS4 just for VR. I gave about 3 standard PS4 games and the rest are VR. If I get a code, I'll give it to someone.
I almost bought Astrobot a few days ago in Target, had I done so surely I would have gotten an email. But since I didn't it's probably with my Dreams beta code. 😢
@get2sammyb Any particular regions?
No email for me, though I don't have PSVR so there's no point in sending me one.
@GKO900
Hahahahahaha. No.
Fret not. You'll still have your pancake games. Hahaha.
Sending out codes by email is weird. Wouldn’t make any difference to me regardless as I already own it.
@GKO900 I got a free ham sandwich and I don't like ham, are sandwiches gonna go out of fashion?
Ham ones definitely
@get2sammyb Time will tell if isn't already
@nessisonett Not the best example to compare but nice try
It will be great if sony give me this game so I can play it later when I bought psvr 2 for ps5 😌
@nessisonett
What the heck man?!?
Ham is delicious.
@SirRealDeal If by ham you mean like proper big hunk of ham, yes I agree. It’s the wafer-thin slimy stuff out a packet that creeps me out.
I have recieved mine. I couldn't believe when I read the e-mail....
So nobody got one? Was it some hoax?
Everytime something like this happens, even when it's just for a theme for a Platinum commemoration I never get anything.
And I've been a good customer of PlayStation since the launch of the original in 1995. 😭
@GKO900
I'm not keen but not self centred enough to want it to fail because I don't like it. Never cease being amazed by how entitled some gamers think they are
I haven't gotten a code, but as I got the game with my VR bundle I already have it anyways.
I already have it, it came with my VR. Awesome little game, I still haven't found all the Robots.
Is this US only promotion?
I have a psvr and a ps plus and no email with a code for me 😔.
@suikoden Self center just for posting my opinion I guess that's 2019 internet for you
@GKO900
Well how about Shaun Layton already discussing PSVR2 and his VR plans for the next 10 years.
Also VR, in general, is growing each year exponentially and Sony is in the forefront. They have already announced the PSVR will be compatible with PS5 until the PSVR2 comes out.
Will certainly have to check the email....even though I think this game came bundled with the newer version PSVR I bought when I gave my son the day one edition.
@GKO900 I honestly think that Sony will be the driving factor in fully mainstreaming VR. Sony is bringing it to the living room, whereas the other headsets I think will always be in that more expensive enthusiast class that is by it's own nature restrictive to the majority of gamers. Like it or not casuals make up the largest consumer base for gaming, so if you want something new to stick you have to get them on board, and you cant do that if they think it has to be tied to their PC. I have tried all 3 major headsets and for sheer comfort and ease of use Sony takes the cake.
Am I the only one that watches youtube videos in VR mode on the PS4 pro? Some really cool stuff to be found, and MUCH easier to get your non gaming family and friends in on the VR action without jumping right into controller use and possible motion sickness. I got my non gaming GF hooked on VR youtube, and originally she talked smack about how dorky we looked wearing it! Whose the dork now Becky?
This game is better than Super Mario Odyssey. It's up there with Mario Galaxy tbh.
This is 100 percent fake. Sony is not giving it away. This site has no credibility.
No E-mail for me oh well
@Gtafan8888 so you're basicaly telling me that I'm a liar?

I had previously bought the digital download of the full game, Sony can see I've been playing the game, but because I now can't
prove the purchase via my online account, but I can provide bank evidence Sony won't accept that, so now I have no astronomy game, I'd be very annoyed if I don't get the email!
No VR - no interest.
Hope it goes to someone with vr set!! I don't as yet, would love to try the vr set
@Frigate there are a few games that are a no go for me mainly RIGS, star wars mission, and that one space one with VR worlds. However there are so many great titles that wont make you sick especially if you go for shorter sessions: superhot, thumper, headmaster, moss, no mans sky, beat saber to name a few. I even get car sick easily so I am always cautious with new games. Tips for less sickness include playing with a fan or ac, eating ginger candies and to not play when u are tired, hungry, hungover etc
Well you made me look, but the answer is nope. I have a VR headset, I don't have the game still no Astro Bots for me.
Yeah I never get anything for free even that free Christmas theme last year I got nothing and I continue to spend lots of money on PS4 psvr and ps vita even...to figure...
@whizzkidd for one your link does not work and two yes I am calling you a liar. Sony does not give out games like this kid.
Does Sony often only give this sort of freebies to people who've made a lot of digital content purchases from the PS Store?
@GADG3Tx87 me neither buddy.
It is actually pretty frustrating and unfair missing out on free stuff.
@Gtafan8888 the irony is strong with this one.
@GKO900 no chance. It’ll become even more prevalent
@WanderingBullet It's totally random. I know people who didn't receive any of those codes for their main accounts with hundreds of purchases and then got some for their dummy accounts.
@snakemake Gotcha. I've never receive this sort of free stuff before and I figured part of the reason was because I don't buy a lot of games from the PS Store.
With Xbox, I get a s**t ton of “freebie” messages when I spend about a 5th of what I spend on the PS4. I honestly can’t think of a single email I’ve got from Sony when I spend an absolute fortune on the PlayStation store. I’ve had a look at the email stuff, all checked. Doesn’t really bother me, but still, it’s a bit strange.
