Geoff Keighley brought something new to Gamescom 2019 - the very first Gamescom Opening Night Live. The first event of its kind replaced the typical press conferences we'd see from hardware manufacturers with a celebratory night that played host to all kinds of reveals. Death Stranding was a huge highlight thanks to another bizarre set of gameplay trailers, while the likes of Predator: Hunting Grounds had us just as intrigued. Brand new titles such as Disintegration, Kerbal Space Program 2, and Remothered: Broken Porcelian were minor highlights.
How would you rate the very first Gamescom Opening Night Live, though? Were you feeling the hype or do you think the show could have gone better? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

It's pretty telling that's the best announcement happened outside of the actual show.
Great for a first, meh compared to other shows throughout the year. Knowing geoff it will improve.
It was awful and made me realize how much I don't like the direction of modern gaming. Thankfully Sony and Nintendo (and now Intellivision) still know what makes truly good games; it gives me some hope.
Terrible. 2 hours of next to nothing just so Geoff could sniff Kojima's hair on stage for 30 minutes.
Wasn’t the greatest of conferences some odd choices like the fifa stuff and epic games store reel thing. Didn’t have a major reveal which let it down.
It was okay. I liked seeing more of Monster Hunter World Iceborne, Erica looks rather good, and Death Stranding still makes as little sense as ever.
Gamescom 2019? Nope, can't remember it.
I felt like I wasted two hours of my life...but it was only an hour and a half as I got bored and gave up.Extremely dissapointed.
@ShogunRok Geoff really needs to stop being such a kojima fanboy. At this point it's getting annoying. Kojima doesn't need the hype the Geoff gives him, and honestly while I enjoy the Metal Gear games, they really are not as spectacular as everyone would have you believe.
Kojima can sell millions of copies just on his name, but all it will take is one bad game for people to turn on him.
How utterly underwhelming....
@Enuo
First comment and it had my thoughts exactly. The show wasn't bad, just average, maybe slightly above depending on how some feel about a few games like Gears or anything Kojima makes. But it was definitely overshadowed by Sony purchasing Insomniac. Although to be fair, even if this show was amazing, PlayStation is back in that spot it was in during the PS1 and 2 days where anything Sony does with regards to PS gets more attention than anything else.
The show wasnt bad. Its biggest problem was that the Insomniac acquisition was bigger than anything The show could have done. For those sick of Geoff hyping Kojima: it will over once the game is out... wont it?....
E3 was pretty dire from my perspective, so even though i had zero expectations for this, it still managed to be mindnumbingly terrible.
