Ah, good ol’ Demon’s Souls, eh? Before the series became a colossal hit, Sony actually funded the cult From Software role-playing game – although it famously passed on publishing it outside of its native Japan. The title went on to become a classic, of course, and there’s been rumours for a while that the platform holder’s planning some kind of remaster – in fact, we’ve heard it on the grapevine, too.
The rumours just won’t go away either. Speaking on the Sacred Symbols podcast, PlayStation sage Colin Moriarty admitted that he had expected the title to be announced during this week’s State of Play: “There was one game in particular, a remaster coming out for PlayStation 4, that I thought they were going to announce today, but they didn't. I don't know what they are waiting for with that one. Let's just say the soul still burns with that one.”
We’re beginning to wonder whether the project may have been moved to the PlayStation 5, where it would obviously serve as a tentpole exclusive for the system. When you consider the type of audience this remaster is likely to attract – hardcore players who are likely to be next-gen early adopters – that makes sense to us. We imagine all will be revealed within the next 12 months or so, but it doesn’t look like the speculation will be going away.

I think we'll get one last State of Play in December so maybe then if Colin's right. After all a Demon's Souls remaster doesn't need an awfully long time from announcement till release.
My dream remaster, i never had a PS3 last Gen so i never got the chance to play it. I'm a massive fan From and Souls fan so i'm very desperate to play this.
I didn't get particularly far on my first attempt on this game so I hope the PS5 remake rumour is true. Would be the perfect reason to try again.
I never played this, but have played all the other DS games, BB, and sekiro and love them all and would love to be able to play this one. How much is this game like DS? Is there any big differences?
@Hylian-Likely same! Sekiro just didn’t grab me—too much focus on action and not enough role-playing. Excited for Elden Ring though for sure.
I didn't click with Demon's Souls like Bloodborne, Dark Souls III, and Sekiro. I'd love to give it another try with a remaster.
this article just broke my heart, Sammy how u gon do us like that, i was 1000% DemonsSouls was gon be revealed at state of play 3, it has to be on ps4, if u goes to ps5 it will rain on Bloodborne's 2 parade, the only explanation that it didnt get announced is bc its in develeopement hell n bluepoint cnt hankdle the project and not talented as FromSoft..
I’ve demolished all the souls games except this one. I got a few hours in and got frustrated. But this is a FROM game so the answer to that problem is persist like I’ve never persisted before!
Would buy a remaster in a heartbeat though so I can play it on PS4, which has a far better controller and the possibility of 4K
@Hylian-Likely I bought Sekiro day one and played it for 5 hours and just never went back. I’m assuming I have to be in the right mood to play it..
The souls games especially 2, are the games I’ve spent most time on aside from prob RE4 lol.
They're just teasing us on purpose at this point lol
@pimpjuice I don’t think it would rain on the parade of BB2 (if/when that becomes a thing) - they could easily release it adjacent to whatever else is happening, at any point, and it would still sell.
@Hylian-Likely I think Sekiro’s reliance on sheer skill might have put me off a bit. In the Soulsborne games, you can grind to relieve some of the pressure in the boss fights but with Sekiro, you just get those skill thingys. I can’t do that bloody headless ape thing but I’ve beaten every Soulsborne boss, including DLC. Idk, I really love the areas in Sekiro but the bosses aren’t brilliant. Like the opposite of Bloodborne for me.
Where’s Bloodborne 2 😡
I'm the same as @ellsworth004 with the games I've played. I would get this day 1.
@WallyWest Similar story here. I think I might have played Demon's Souls for five minutes on PS3, when I had very little idea of what it was all about. After properly playing (and properly loving) DS3 and Bloodborne on PS4, I'm keen to go back to where the Soulsbourne phenomenon began.
If it's true I'm looking forward to it. Out of all the Souls (+Borne) I've found this the hardest of the lot. Only got through it once... I'd happily play a PS4/PS5 version.
Tower Of Latria was spooky as hell in that first area
Yeah it'd be way more useful as an amazing launch title for PS5 than a nice swan song for PS4. Also I'd rather see it remade in PS5 graphics.
@NotOnlyTheGame If you haven't played the first two DS games yet i highly recommend them, the first Dark Souls is actually in my top 5 games.
@WallyWest definitely on my never-ending to-do list
It still annoys me slightly that this is the only Soulborne platinum I don't have. A PS5 release would probably see me become an early adopter, but only if it's a full-on remake.
If it's true, then I'd love to check it out and see what's so special about it.
I hope Sony bankrolls this...
It's a great Exclusive that needs more attention now.
I also wish they put out a Pro patch for The Order: 1886.
I want to play without letterboxing at full 1080p (or better) on Pro.
Remember...even Knack got a Pro Update (and I'm not knocking it).
#Colin heard it too news
@get2sammyb
Hey, I know this might be wrong place to get in touch with you, but Battlefield 4 community need help of you.
So EA deliberately trying to ruin BF4 community and we are seeking for help from publicity and I though it won't hurt if I will reach to you, since I sort of trust this community and I know that you, as a dedicated gamer know what it feels like when someone shuts down the support of beloved game.
This is even worse knowing that BF4 is still probably most active community to this day and recently the people who run servers been facing hard difficulties, the difficulties that EA ignores either on purpose or don't want to face them (the same way EA does with career mode in FIFA 20).
Back in January 24th, 2019 EA patched their system introducing a game breaking bug for many people who rents a server in BF4 game.
Every empty server basically disappears from the server browser as soon as admin leaves the game, therefore making the server shut down on its own and being unable to function at all. People can't find it, people can't play it, the only solution to this problem is to have your console running BF4 all the time, while you are in the server. This is the only work-around available.
We have contacted EA support many of times during these months and although at first they reacted to it, then they just went silent and the fixes they have promised to us were never delivered.
You can find this thread here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/Not-all-servers-or-rented-server-shown-in-server-browser/td-p/7393636
Yesterday however, they started to shut down custom servers, making everyone disconnect and unable to join back in, not even admins and owners are able to join their servers that we have paid money for to have them running.
This thread summarizes what is happening: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/EA-terminating-BF4-Server-Rental-and-Support/m-p/8256776#M232799
We all pretty positive that EA are trying purposely to move player base from older Battlefield game to the Battlefield 5, which according to the media they have stated themselves, blaming older games in series of the unsuccessful launch of Battlefield V.
We, Battlefield community are just trying to fight for justice and get our answers. EA refuses to collaborate, doesn't respond and ignores us.
By messaging you, I hope you will consider looking into this issue that we have and hopefully you could spark some light into this dark tunnel that all Battlefield community is being pushed to by EA corporation.
All we ask is publicity and hopefully it would force EA to respond to old ongoing issue , the issue they introduced on January 24th and now the outrageous bahaviour since yesterday.
Best of Regards,
@Bamila wut?
I can confirm that this remake won't come out for PS4. It's being developed as a PS5 title for quite awhile now. Got a reliable source for this one.
@Bamila you should try reach out to these youtubers YongYea, Upper Echelon Gamers, TheQuartering, Jim Sterling, Laymen Gaming, LegacyKillaHD
If they hold this for PS5, alot people will be angry.
There's no reason this remaster can't be a PS4 / Pro game.
.. I remember importing this into the UK... I knew nothing about it apart from a friend saying "you must get THIS!" - it was genre-defining... imagine no hype, not knowing what you were getting into.. and then experiencing a tough-as-nails, distilled version of Dark Souls... it was one of the greatest gaming moments for me.. that and Eye of Judgement... PS3 was just awesome... this generation, not so (apart from PSVR)... and with Xbox snapping at its heels... apart from a few exclusives (Spidey 2, etc.) I don't see PS5 winning next gen either...
.. I still remember facing those skeletons for the first time... and running past that dragon... and.. and... and... If you haven't played it - it's essential. Would I want to play a remaster? No thanks. I like my memories just the way they are...
