Well, we weren't quite expecting this. Yo-Kai Watch is a series that has thus far been exclusive to Nintendo systems. It's an action RPG in which you collect and do battle with the titular monsters in a similar vein to the Pokémon series. There are a number of gameplay differences, but it's certainly within the same wheelhouse. The latest game, Yo-Kai Watch 4, was recently released in Japan, and Level-5 has just announced it'll also be coming to PlayStation 4.
No further details are known at this stage. We know the game will be ported to PS4 at least in Japan, but whether we see a Western release is another matter. Without a release date even for the Japanese release, it's probably safe to assume it's a while off yet.
Still, it's interesting to see the series make the jump to PS4. What do you think of this? Are you excited to see Yo-Kai Watch come to PlayStation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

It's a surprise, but I'm down for giving it a try. I'm not expecting it to be as good as Pokemon, but it'll be something different for me and a nice change of pace.
I was never really interested in this series, with the jump to PS4 still won’t change my mind.
Sweet. Less exclusives make for a better world IMO. For those not in the know, this is made by the same team as the Ni No Kuni games, though they skew a bit younger thematically.
This game was huuuuuge on 3ds in Japan. Interesting to see how it performs on playstation.
@Tsurii You should really play the full game or at least do way more research before saying stuff like that. Fans have admitted the demo could have been way better but the gameplay itself is actually WAY deep due to favtors and mechanics like Tribe Unity, Tank support, Wheel placement. Plus, the game's minibosses alone have been known to beat bad players to a pulp in addition to a long list of true bosses that range from obnoxious to stupid hard.
However, yes it is a very charming game so thanks for that.
@YozenFroghurt Not really. A good number of Nintendo fans hate this series for no good reason because alot of them refuse to tolerate monster collectors other than Pokemon despite the fact Pokemon took almost all its ideas and concepts from Dragon Quest 5; a monster colector that came out 4 years before the first Pokemon games. Plus, the original YKW game was originally planned to be a PS3 game but development shifted to it being on 3DS. So there's really no point getting upset over this port.
@crimsontadpoles I've played Pokemon games since the very first games with every main game including the scam that is Ultra Sun and Moon and have been playing a ton of other monster collectors both older and newer as well. I can fairly tell you that this series has a history of making Pokemon look like a joke in terms of personality, openness, depth, difficulty, content, lore, etc. Comparing these games to Pokemon is very unfair to Pokemon.
@Tsurii Those are the 3DS games though. YW4 has a completely different battle system.
@YozenFroghurt Let’s just say in the West Yo-Kai Watch is so niche Nintendo fans do not care for this...
