Hot off the heels of Shawn Layden's abruptly announced departure from PlayStation, another major player is leaving the company. Atsushi Morita may not be as familiar, but he's been corporate director of Sony Interactive Entertainment and president of SIE Japan Asia for a long time. It's been announced that he'll be retiring from both positions having reached 60 years of age.
Chief financial officer for SIE is set to replace Morita as corporate director, but no successor to the role of Japan Asia president has been confirmed as yet.
We wouldn't take these back-to-back departures as something to worry about. We're at the start of a new quarter, a time when changes like these are usually made public. In this case, at least, it seems to simply be down to age -- we wish Morita-san a happy retirement.

In Before People Blow This Way Out Of Proportion And Start Coming up With Doomsday Predictions
@Areus The world’s ending. The signs are all there. The earth’s flat.
weird that so many high-ranking executives are departing considering how well PS4 is doing and how positive the outlook for PS5 is (or maybe not?)
Pretty sure SIE still follows the standard for the Japan financial year (April - March) but no surprise they'd make these announcements so early.
@manu0 Not really weird: leaving on a high.
Im sorry this is off topic but PlayStation Now has officially become Xbox Gamepass but better glad too see the change.

Maybe Disney is buying them?
Seems like it's been at least a week since they bought Fox.

@get2sammyb Nice scoop by this person @KnightWolf above
The addition of those 4 games gets it pretty close to Gamepass as we all just discussed 2 weeks ago.

What would make me really sad is when Shu leaves/retires.
Clearly he saw the new design for the PS5 and decided it was doomed to failure and jumped before the train wreck.
There can be no other logical explanation.
As long as Cerny is still with Sony, Knack 3 is still a reality.
So the long gestating rumors about apple wanting a slice of Sony....anybody think it holds weight? Sony Pictures fine. Dont. Touch. Playstation.
