It's been exactly two months since Sony acquired Marvel's Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games, but it appears that the team at the Burbank campus has only just gotten around to celebrating the purchase properly. The studio has put on a special team lunch for all employees, with the likes of PlayStation's Mark Cerny and Shuhei Yoshida in attendance.
After dedicating a moment of silence to Craig Goodman, one of the studio's artists who recently passed away from brain cancer, Insomniac Games' CEO Ted Price had a few quick words to share with his fellow employees. Shu Yoshida then followed that up by discussing Spyro the Dragon and even handing out PS4 Pros and a copy of Marvel Spider-Man's Game of the Year edition to everyone in attendance.
We assume the party will continue long into the night, with the team returning on Monday to continue its work on Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Or maybe even a new Ratchet & Clank game. Which would you prefer to have on PS5 first? Debate away in the comments below.

A Party 20+ Years In The Making
I'd prefer a new Ratchet & Clank game...
on PS4*
The system has a massive install base and still has at least a couple of years left in it before it's put out to pasture. Surely it deserves a second helping of R&C before it rides off into the sunset?
*or a cross-gen release on PS4 and PS5
Wait, did Sony just give all the Insomniac employees Pros with Spiderman? Lol. Really?
Whey! Welcome to the family, Insomniac.
This was the studio that Sony simply HAD to get. To lose them to anyone else would have been a bitter blow. They tick so many boxes it's absurd, they have a rich history (most of it with PlayStation) they can make so many types of games from mascot platforms, open worlds to FPSs. They have experience with VR and arguably more importantly there still at the top of their game.
@Nyne11Tyme its a nice gesture but wouldnt ya think they moat likely already own it
I want spidey and r&c both
@AdamNovice Yeah, so true. They also very efficient, able to make games very quickly.
Uh, Yoshida is about to reach that ol‘ Kaz Hirai swag. Nice gesture with the PS4 Pro presents.
It was really just to get everybody around to help cut that hedge.
@ApostateMage and what a good job they did. Their lines are impeccable 😂
@Nyne11Tyme I know! the one game everyone would be sick of looking at.
@JoeBlogs id be there is a smaller concept team. Insomniac has money. I bet they are 2-300 strong anyhow
Resistance 4 ps5 launch game word up son
Isn't there meant to be a new Ratchet and Clank in developement? Late last year or earlier this year, I remember somebody mentioning in a podcast somewhere that "Ratchet and Clank is not done yet this gen".
I wouldn't put it past Insomniac games to be able to announce a new game anytime in the next few months and have it out before PS5 next year.
The remake of the first game would have been out fast/sooner had they not had to actually WAIT for the silly movie to be ready. The game had to wait an extra 4 or 5 months so it could launch alongside the movie.
@playstation1995 i feel like the first 3 need remastered to see if resistance 4 would sell. Lots of people did NOT get to play those games and 3 didnt sell well. Pack all 3 in one remastered for ps5 and see what happens imo. I looooooved resistance so i want 4 as bad as you
@Nyne11Tyme i agree with you.you could remastered all of them for ps5 .i still got my ps3. And the resistance games.so its no problem.i want a resistance 4.its gonna happen now that insomiac is a sony studio.word up son
@playstation1995 I really loved the first and the third the second one wasnt really my thing.
@Flaming_Kaiser. All of the resistance was amazing.so cant wait for 4.word up son
Sunset Overdrive 2, with pre-orders granting access to Sunset Overdrive Deluxe edition. A new Ratchet and Clank after that, then Spider-Man 2. However it also depends on what Sucker Punch is doing, if they're coming out with another inFamous title, I say Insomniac should lead with R&C, so we don't have two super human titles competing. Then I'd bring SO2 out, followed by SM2.
I do think Sony should allocate the necessary funds so they can hire appropriately for these projects, they will all sell well on PlayStation. Poor Sunset Overdrive, it deserved better.
Wow, I had no idea Insomniac acquired Sony!
Would love another Ratchet and Clank game, more in line with Tools of Destruction, than the older PS2 ones. That game was epic
@doctommaso The "Sony Acquisition" refers to who made the acquisition/who it belongs to. It's the Sony acquisition of Insomniac. It's worded correctly, just in a headline format.
@SZRT_CIC_Ice It's debatably "correct" but is vague and poorly worded, which is why I made the joke.
