The 2020 release schedule is looking slightly dry for January on PlayStation 4, so we're never going to say no to a shadow drop. Darwin Project is available right now on the PlayStation Store, a free-to-play battle royale shooter which comes with an interesting twist.
Rather than reaching the triple digits, the game from developer Scavengers Studio focuses on a 10-player bout while an 11th competitor assumes the role of the Show Director. They'll be able to influence the match by assisting an underdog or putting a stop to someone's kill streak by summoning the likes of a gravity storm, restricting entry into certain zones, and revealing a player's position. Meanwhile, the 10 contestants are equipped with a bow and arrow as well as other melee weapons and must survive the harsh winter cold while keeping a lookout for enemies.
It sounds like a fun little distraction if you're tired of Fortnite or Apex Legends, but its longevity might not be able to hold up to those other titles. It's only a 3.32GB download, anyway. Are you interested? Drop into the comments below.

@Simon_Fitzgerald Maybe!
Free to play Battle Royale game you say? Not a chance I'm ever playing this
Eh, not a fan of Battle Royale games but whoever likes them more power to’em.
Fans of the Hunger Games will love this.
The environments reminded me so much of Dauntless.
Has anyone played this yet? Just wondering how it is?
