Tales of Arise, the next entry in Bandai Namco's long running Tales series, has been hit with a rather vague delay. The action role-playing title was first announced at E3 2019 with a cool looking trailer, but the game's been missing in action ever since. Back in January of this year, the title was actually rated in Korea, leading to speculation that its launch was a lot closer than we first thought. But of course, nothing came of that.
In a new development update, Bandai Namco writes: "While COVID-19 has affected some aspects of development, we’ve done our best to adapt to the situation and have implemented remote development capabilities for our team. However, we will need more time to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players, and therefore we decided to delay the launch timing for Tales of Arise."
Tales of Arise was originally supposed to release in 2020, but it's unclear whether this delay pushes it into 2021 or not, as no new release window has been announced. "A new launch window update will be provided once we have more details to share," the post continues.

Hi there fellow gamers. As a fan of the Tale series, this is a bummer. I do understand the reason behind it though. This pandemic have put so many things on hold and as caused so many delays it is staggering. They are probably going to announce a PS5 version with the new realese date I suppose. Cheers and happy gaming to us all
I'm perfectly fine with this. Some of the recent Tales titles have suffered directly as a result of them trying to rush them out to make certain dates, Zestiria especially, when they could have used more time in the oven.
I'm still really looking forward to it. It looks a huge step forward for the series, and I'll wait patiently for it.
To be honest, I didn't even know it had a launch window already announced. Hope the lack of a new window doesn't end up being as ominous as it sounds though because I'm looking forward to a new Tales game.
I want this fully upgraded for ps5, with 4K, 60 fps, and no load time
Damn
Kinda pleased. Only just got to Tales of Berseria... Which is great. But wanted a bit of a break before the next one.
Also more time for my backlog is always good
@Alexface Oh? Seems like a selfish thing to be pleased by since most of us fans have been waiting years for a new game in the series, but I digress.
@Alexface I'll add that not minding is acceptable, but being pleased by a delay for a popular game series is pretty odd.
Tried to get into the series with vesperia, but it didn't really work for me. Maybe this will be a good entry point.
When they were finally going to release a Tales that looks like it's current.gen, they had to delay it.
I understand the reason for the delay and I hope the team manages to keep everyone safe, but it seems they're going to keep releasing Tales games that look old-gen on the current consoles.
It'd be cool if they made this a cross-gen release. Put a 4K/60fps version on PS5/XSX.
I am still wondering if the covid19 isn't an easy excuse for most game delays to avoid reactions from toxic fans. Covid19 or not, I am 100% in favour of delaying a game release if it means getting something better. Also I expect this one to surpass Symphonia, so please blow my mind!
@KisekiFan7 maybe pleased was the wrong word.
I'm a huge fan of the series so also really excited for this game, but I get very overwhelmed with how many great games are out there that I want to play and a delay means more time to make it great and more time for me to catch up.
@Alexface Is it awsome then that will be my next backlog game too finish thx for the info. 😃 👍
Have the same problem cant make a dent in my backlog. 😓
I always wished these games were more developed...we need a standout Tales game to revitalize the franchise popularity.
@Ralizah @wiiware @Claude @RaZieLDaNtE @Mitsui Same, here's hoping we get an upgraded PS5 release!
Arise will be my first true Tales games, I tried Abyss and Symphonia before but got distracted early into both.
@Mitsui I own it on PS4, just have other games in my backlog that are higher priority at the moment. Currently playing thru God of War and loving it.
