The gaming community loves to belittle Konami after it significantly cut the number of games it develops, but even when the publisher does decide to put something out, nobody seems to take notice. Yes, Konami published a new PlayStation 4 game today and not one of you realised. It's called Skelattack and it's available on the PlayStation Store right now for £15.99/$19.99.
Developed by Ukuza, this is a 2D side-scroller full of combat and platforming. The PlayStation Store listing reads: "Together with your best bat friend Imber, you will need to jump, slash and flap your way through the Underworld. It's up to you to stop the humans, save the Underworld, protect the Blue Flame and confront Skully's prior life!" It's certainly not a Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but at least Konami is still out there, somewhere. We'll take a Castlevania reboot next, thanks.
Are you going to give Skelattack a shot? Let us know in the comments below.

Look awesome to me
They went from publishing AAA titles to shovelware? Is that better than nothing at all?
This doesn't look bad at all.
Is that a moustache or teeth? I really want it to be his muzzy.
Doesn't look like shovelware to me. Some nice animation going on.
At $20 it’s a pass, but once I can grab it for $10 or preferably $8? Done deal. If it were even $12.99 right now I’d probably just grab it but I think the $20 price point is, well, maybe a little out of touch.
I didn't noticed it and now I dont liked it. Thats good thing.
Amazing that they used to be one of the worlds biggest gaming company’s...
@glassmusic My thoughts exactly.
knock off Hollow Knight
It's like they have to meet a bare-minimum quota of game releases every year to register as a video game company or something, lol. Tax write-off?
This actually looks quite cool. Wonder if it’ll get a vita release?
This kinda looks cool. 😆
After Metal Gear Survive and Contra Rogue Corps Konami probably realised they can't make good games anymore and have to publish games that good developers make. Game looks fine tho. Now Konami please just give the Fox Engine to someone who will use it lol
Happy to say I know this dev personally and have followed this game for a long time (we interviewed him almost two years ago). Played several demos of the game and it’s a great little platformer y’all should check out!
Something that should be dead but is still inexplicably alive that's an enemy to all humans... But enough about Konami, let's get back to talking about this game.
If journalists focus on "all" games, not just "two" games, we could notice...
They have the Castlevania IP, literally rotting away …
… and they do this.
I … I can't even.
@djlard yeah hard to notice a lot of things on here since the last of us 2 mania flooded the website
@Nickolaidas its called edging. they will keep doing and doing and EXPLODE. im telling you... you will see
This looks really good. If this came out today then you gotta give me a chance to notice it before you tell me I didnt notice. I'm also not sure why it would be compared to Metal Gear. Is it fair to diminish this game because of some feelings about the publisher? I personally dont want any more Castlevanias.
@Boucho11 guys i do not want to break this guy's heart... can someone tell him vita is dead and gone? i dont wanna be the bad guy :/
@TrueAssassin86x its called Pachinko. and all Pachinko machines matter
@Boucho11
If it does hit the Vita I'll get it for sure. Just not at 20 bucks.
@Skoda You say mania, I say damage control. -_^
I re-downloaded PS1 Silent Hill on my Vita last night. Seeing the Konami logo just reminded me of how great they used to be.
@tweakin_frostyz came here to say this. Hollow Knight is incredible.
@sciteach I still have yet to finish it. But yeah, definitely a fun little game! Well worth the price.
It's a multiplatform release, btw.
@tweakin_frostyz me either. it got crazy tough in there. some mini boss battles were epic
Yeah Playstation needs a wish button for those "fringe"games I don't want to spend full price on.
@weR1youR2Podcast so is it a metrodvania? Cuz i love that genre. A big connected map with backtracking after u gain new abilities. I dont know why but i really like those games. Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, etc great games.
Perhaps they realised that during pandemic gambling doesn't make as much and actual gaming continues to make dollar dollar.
@Skoda Yes... too much addo for two games.
@ellsworth004 it is! Spent an hour on it last night and reminded me a lot of Hollow Knight as its inspiration.
@weR1youR2Podcast the character looks like he was pulled out of Hollow Knight.
@Boucho11 lol "Vita release" why don't you ask for a Dreamcast game next LOL
At what point do people feel justified ringing alarm bells on Konami? What's it going to take?
I mean what exactly are they producing?... and yet somehow theyre still alive??
@tweakin_frostyz wasnt hollow knight a bug(completely sure) and this new character a skeleton?
@Xiaolin why don’t you grow the f**k up
@Boucho11 It was a joke, about how the Vita has been abandoned. It wasn't meant to be hostile.
@Xiaolin so was my reply 🤷♂️
