Sony has made the difficult decision to postpone Thursday's PlayStation 5 reveal event due to the Black Lives Matters protests currently taking place across the US. The hardware manufacturer has issued a statement on Twitter confirming the postponement.
In it, Sony says: "While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices be heard." We will be sure to update you here at Push Square as and when the Japanese giant announces a new date for the event.

We understand that this will be disappointing news for a lot of you. However, please, please remain respectful with your comments.
Disappointing for sure, but it is the right decision to make. It humanizes Sony a bit more too.
Respectful 3#
Tough call, but it makes sense. On a human level and a marketing/business level.
it was the right call..2020 is a year to remember for sure..
I was of course looking forward to it and I don't expect everyone to understand, I'm good with their decision. Would have been a nice distraction from what's happening right now, though it's understandable. Not going to revisit this one as I'm sure the comments will be quite lively, they made a good call here.
Understandable. I mean, it would be a nice distraction or break from turmoil, but again, everyone's eyes are elsewhere. Makes sense.
That's why keeping your expectations low is so vital these days. I'm not affected, either way, but I think this is a bit of an exaggeration on Sony's part.
@Grimwood once the protesting calms down we will hear from them.
Good call. Now is not the time to celebrate with glitz and glamour. Justice for George Floyd and all those affected remains paramount.
Huge respect for Sony for doing this.
Am I gutted ? Yes I was looking forward to this a lot.
But this is absolutely the right decision though and can fully understand this.
@LiamCroft that should be on the tweet. Have you seen the twitter comments?
Its a good call tho. The games will come in time.
Hopefully things calm down soon. There have been peaceful protests going on in my hometown, so far. Unfortunately, the opportunists start popping up once the sun goes down.
I am disappointed, but hopefully progress is swift and we can get back to our COVID-19 "new normal" a little wiser and a lot more accepting.
My twitter (which is very gamer centric) has been chock full of BLM protests so it shows how serious the situation is.
I will say though that Sony can't hold off forever, ideally they need to get out and establish what next gen looks like before MS show 1st party games in July.
I also reckon to make up for no stream on Thursday I Sony will actually show off the console.
Its the right call. Fair play for making this decision. I was really looking forward to some game reveals but there's a far more important issue that deserves everyone's attention.
A real shame but totally understandable, the event and all the lovely announcements are still on the way we just need to be a bit more patient
What a year 2020 is turning out to be though, it's starting to make Eastenders look cheerful lol
After EA and others have canceled their events due to the protests, Sony would have received backlash and criticism if they had pushed through with theirs. It sucks for us gamers but it was the right move from a PR perspective.
Hopefully we get a future date soon.
I appreciate it. On behalf of the black community, we thank Sony. As great as it would be to see the PS5, more important voices need to be heard right now. #BlackLivesMatter
Disappointed but totally the correct decision. Can’t see this happening till after the last of us part 2 is released
Seriously lame... The event is still what... Three days away. Coming from a European this is seriously disappointing and a little hypocritical. I didn't see game announcements delayed with the Hong Kong protests last year... Delaying it to an "undisclosed date" just seems like Sony is toying with expectations now. To not at least give a solid "2 week" delay as a back up makes no sense.
Edit: this is no disrespect towards BLM happening in America right now, but more why Sony prioritize the importance of those events globally over others. I wish no offence with this comment and simply wanted to make the point
Haha what a joke. This ain't got nothing to do with the movement. Just another excuse for Sony to delay this. Sony has turned into a straight pony show. Smfh
@LiamCroft Do you think they will postpone the official PlayStation magazine as it’s doing a massive ps5 game blowout a few days after the event was due to take place?
It's very disappointing. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but to get this close and then have it snatched away is such a great shame.
Alas, I respect the decision and look forward to a new date being announced.
Right that's it, I'm protesting.
Hmm what? This makes no sense lol
Sorry, but it doesn't make any sense at all...I understand there bad things going, but hey, news flash, bad things are happening all days every year, be it at the USA, Europe, Middle East, Africa...like wtf is this decision xD
It's not like they announced this months ago and now things are happening. They announced this like last week, they SHOULD NOT have announced it.
Why the hell would they postpone over something that has NOTHING to do with PlayStation? This is so f**king stupid!!!!
This is the safest move Sony could make which I get, but I would have had zero problem with them going ahead with the event (and I say as someone who is half black). Surprised to see overwhelming support here for their move. Although America is PlayStation's biggest market, the world does not revolve around the U.S. As a Canadian, I am SO tired of being a witness to how messed up our neighbour to the south is.
Wonder if every other online gaming event over the next month will also be dropped now?!
I feel that with all this hellish nightmare going on in the world, it is the right time to celebrate something that brings positivity into our lives.
How much you want to bet that Naughty Dog announces another delay for The Last of Us Part II because releasing a "violent game during these times would be inappropriate."
Honestly, at this point, why are they even attempting to still do this during Holiday 2020. Just delay it all to next year at this point.
Yeah, because USA is the whole world...
I still remenber when Sony says it will be more Global, cof, cof, Americanization for the rest of the world.
...Fking stupid!
@avenovah I expect ND will delay it because releasing a violent game during these times isn't appropriate...at least I am sure that is how they will spin it.
@drk Overwhelming support? This has been the total opposite. Sony is doing this because they believe there are more important things to address than a console. It’s fine for the fans to be a little bummed (I know I am), but to act like children is unacceptable and embarrassing.
@get2sammyb Wow. I know you wanted to keep this respectful, but these guys here are really pathetic. Do they have nothing else going on that they are raging over an announcement?
@AFCC it makes sense given the US is a huge market and is the right call.
However unfortunately, not enough companies care about the middle East and Africa to deem it event cancellation worthy and that's why the world generally carries on as normal when ***** goes down there. Its sad but that's where we are.
Let's be honest if a similar widescale event happened here in Europe the event would also be cancelled.
Its the right decision however inconvenient it may be.
Very disappointing but total respect for them to do it all the same.
@Wazeddie22 Thank you, partner. I wish everyone else had your mindset.
While it's understandable, aren't the deaths caused by covid-19 something that makes "a celebration" a little odd? And then every day there are people dying because they have no food, no water, no basic medical attention, and in some countries people are slaughtered with no reason, but yes, those are times to celebrate? It's OK to be respectful now, but... What's the threshold for that?
@Akurusu completely agree. 100% the right call by sony. Some of the folks on here should be ashamed of themselves.
@solocapers I don't know about that! France is constantly full with protests and I didn't see anything like this.
Besides I doubt very much that the majority of US population is protesting right now.
Seriously someone enlighten me, people are protesting yes, it's for a good reason and justified, but how does this affect a PS5 stream? Do you really think that less people would see the stream? Doubt it very very much.
@Gladiator995 So he deserved to be murdered in the street? So if you make a mistake in your life, do we have your permission to call the cops and have you executed in a public forum? You sir, are a disgusting human being and give gamers a bad name indeed. YUCK!
Wait a minute, wait a minute. I just noticed everyone on this site told certain folks to hush about the politics in TLOU2, but when politics are being forced in the real world & affect real things it doesn’t matter all of a sudden? I’m not sure if I worded that correctly, but this fanbase...
@Makina you realize most of the media sites are from USA! if they went ahead with schedule they have to deal with PR disaster every media outlet be calling them out even though none of them speak against ***** going around the world it has to be ME ME ME....so its understandable given the nature of Americans they better delay..
Why would they even announce it last Friday, knowing fully well that the particular events were already underway? Lol I'm beginning to think this was just a "bait & switch" scenario 😂🤣
Understandable 2020 has been the worst.. I wonder if they will put the confereces together? they have one planned for August.
At first I was angry from the headline, but now that I see the reason...makes sense!
It all started with kobe Bryant death.the coronavirus outbreak all over the world.and George floyd death leading to the protest and violence.wow 2020 is a nightmare of a year.its crazy word up son
I have a lot to say on this matter, but I won’t.
As a POC living in Europe, I can honestly say that I’ve never considered myself to be ‘lesser’.
Nevertheless if the movement can lead to real change, then let there be change.
@AFCC France has protests for any old crap, let's be honest... Including petrol prices not long ago.
I can't remember a time for protesting in France for regular murders by police on minorities. Actual murder by police simply based on colour.
Without sounding all woke.. Your clearly speaking from a privileged perspective and therefor because it doesnt really affect you then it doesn't matter that much.
Because most people aren't protesting then Sony shouldn't show solidarity with what is almost daily injustices?
@Gladiator995 Give me a break... Your words were a thinly veiled prosecution - it's okay because "he was a criminal". It's totally inappropriate for this site. But it's okay, I've reported you.
Did they announce the date of when they will show the event?
Please be respectful to each other. The real world's bad enough right now, last thing we need is people attacking each other on the internet as well.
This will be the only warning. Thanks!
Not that I mind at all, but this just seems strange to me. There’s always something bad happening in the world - covid-19, for instance, will keep claiming lives all over the world throughout most of 2020. When is the right time for a celebration, then?
Not all of us neither live nor care that much about what is going on in America.
Not impressed Sony, not impressed at all.
@Gladiator995 To be fair, I also assumed you meant he deserved to die! And this is quite literally the straw that broke the camel's back, if you map out all the unjustified slayings of black civilians recently. Coupled with Trump encouraging violence against initially peaceful protesters (compared to him praising white supremacist protesters a couple years ago), it's no wonder we're where we are now.
@Akurusu. Whose everyone.dont put me in that category.i never said that.i welcome politics?in video games.its a story of human struggle. Word up son
@keihtg Thank you, it was implied in his comment.
Just because the United States can’t function as a country? How about the rest of the world ? I was really hoping for this one, disappointment
@pip_muzz I totally agree. The world doesn't revolved around the United States but it seems Sony think otherwise.
Shock horror, another innocent black man is killed by a cop in the USA. It's tragic but typical of that screwed up country. What on earth has any of that got to do with gaming?!
@Akurusu Don't take it personally. This forum has always been filled with its fair share of idiots. I'm still shocked America is in this position after the shootings of Terrence Coleman and Charles Kinsey, both of whom should have been protected by the law, not had their lives destroyed by it. Those two cases alone should have changed everything.
It has been one crazy year! As disappointing as this is, you have to respect any decisions made by Sony, we will all get what we want at some point. And they want the focus on them, rather than all the other stuff going on in the world.
Yeah... I guess USA do be belly button of a world at some degree. Well, I am out for now.
@Hobbesyall I’m from the uk pal so I’m calling sony cowards
@drk You have our sympathies, living so near to that basket case country.
☹️
Let's be real, I highly doubt Sony cares enough about the BLM movement. This is a delay tactic for them to make it as "professional as possible". There was that article a few days ago that stated such. If they bulldozed ahead, the decision to do so would most likely be criticized.
@Ear_wiG Implying is completely different to what I said, you’re just trying to find an excuse to get offended and it’s pretty sad tbh.
@Sinton Good point..I guess if nothing bad is happening in the States then it's a go.
🙄
@pip_muzz I have to agree with you on this. They could have at least provide a low key version of the presentation. No one asked for a "celebration" gamers just wanted information.
I know that I might be the only one, but I'm starting to get tired of seeing that everyone and everything needs to have an opinion or need to make a statement about all the issues that are happening in the world, whether it's good or bad. I don't see any problem if a Sony executive or employee talks about these matters, but it is a bummer to see that they as a company are obliged to say something.
If they keep doing this, they will end up in a complicated situation for them like having to speak of the China government or something like that.
Kind of disagree, some good news would be really appreciated in these times, instead of seeing people killing each other.
@Gladiator995 Dude. Seriously? I'm going to remain respectful. You seriously just don't get it do you? Your racist as anyone can be stating such BS.
@Chris0160 I’m racist for stating he was a criminal? He literally was sent down for committing a home invasion on a woman who he attacked in front of her one year old child. Try looking into things instead of using buzzwords mate.
@Gladiator995 No, what's "pretty sad" is your complete ignorance of the history of America, your clear lack of empathy for a people that have been systemically oppressed for the last 200 years, and your inappropriate and offensive comments on a website that's supposed to be about gaming. But keep telling yourself that it's other people and the "mods" that have the problem...
@ED_209 I understand why they postponed, even if they didn't want too, some Social Justice Warrior would just call them heartless if they didn't so they didn't have a choice.
But it does raise the question of will there ever be a good time? Postponed due to Corona, Postponed due to Civil Unrest, next month it will be something else. There will always be something going on in the world, at this rate the PS5 will fall into Myth and Legend :S
@Neolit then they should put the stream online in 10 minutes x) it still doesn't make sense to me. This situation in no way should interfere with the gaming world.
@solocapers ahah ok. But still people are STEALING stores in US...how is that looking for justice? I don't want to mess in things that I honestly don't fully understand, but this is blowing WAY out of proportion!
I hope things get back to normal soon so we can have the announcement stream BUT PLEASE PEOPLE don't kill yourselves, don't rob things that other people work their asses off to build, don't make it look like all cops are bad. That's not justice...
I understand, the wait doesn’t bother me.
@Gladiator995 Even though blacks are a minority, there are tons of other minorities and even whites who will stand next to them in protest, just like in the 60s! And like I mentioned, it all started out peacefully but now it's off the rails due to police using force. I agree that the looting and arson is excessive, tho. I mean...why burn down some family's business when you could, y'know, attack a government building or something actually relevant to the cause?
Also please I hope no one gets disrespected for my comments. I'm european, I watch the news but they don't focus on the US that much, I am not fully aware of the situation but from what I know I don't understand why this has to interfere with gaming.
Stay safe all!
@Gladiator995 I've not looked into whether he was a criminal or not. However, he did not deserve some officer kneeling on his neck for 8 minutes for no reason. You take them to jail, not execute them in the street. What is racist is your views on black on black crime, and stating half of the crime in America is due to African Americans.
It's fair enough. Needs to have a less troubled climate. I actually prefer if its next week for work reason
@AFCC not great.. And doesn't help the cause thats for sure although there's reports that white supremacists who are also trying to mingle in with the crowd and stir up looting etc to undermine the protests.
I think we can all agree it's disappointing that the event isn't happening but for a delay of a couple of weeks at most more than likely then it's not the end of the world and it'll be worth the wait.
@AFCC
You can realise for yourself that everyone is a bit like walking on eggs shells right now so not ideal. A week later makes perfect sense
@solocapers Man where is this going to stop? If they start killing each other this will be way worse than China! Oh wait...did they cancel any game or announcement for the Hong Kong protests? Didn't think so, just saying :/
Wow. What a disappointment... Oh well I guess.
Got other things to worry about. Like maybe (hopefully not) protecting my neck from looters and rioters. This curfew has me on edge... I haven't been sleeping well.
@JJ2 What if week later it's even worse?!
Here with popcorn. This comment section is more entertaining than any Sony live event.
@Gladiator995 Please stop reposting your comment — it's being deleted because it's entirely off topic.
Please don't respost if your comment has been removed. Thanks.
@keihtg "I agree that the looting and arson is excessive, tho. I mean...why burn down some family's business when you could, y'know, attack a government building or something actually relevant to the cause?"
This is such a narrow thinking of you, you literally justifying committing crimes.
"attack a government building or something actually relevant to the cause" how is attacking government buildings going to be helpful? All this does is provoke response from government. Those who loot and use these times for their advantage must be punished. I don't agree with police brutality, but if you all would respect police in the first place, non of this would have happened.
Every time black lives matter gets in headlines it is because a person gets brutally murdered, which is true and I support the movement and against the racism, however, if you would all just comply to the orders given to you instead of acting like you are invincible non of this would have ever happened.
The way that you say "let's attack government buildings" is a disgrace as every other use of force from any side. This just fuels the fire. I guess you are too young to realise that you and other tax payers in your country are going to be the ones rebuilding everything. Which means less money to tackle other issues your country faces. You are deepening the problem.
The last thing I have to say, the real protesters who do have a good intend on bringing changes don't hide their face with a mask. They are not afraid to show their face.
@Gladiator995 it goes a lot deeper than that simple statistic and you must surely know that.
Some communities are often poor and are crime hot-spots, why are they poor? Is it because they're lazy and stupid or is it because there's a systematic bias from cradle to grave?
I think you know the answer to that question.
I can wait, probably a decision for the best.
When tomorrow I'll visit Push Square I hope for yet another "When Sony will announce PS5" article with predictions, answers, y'know, the usual stuff
I would like to think Sony will sort something out for this Thursday instead, maybe ask a developer to do a little showcase of their latest project. A sneak little tease, something for their fans in the rest of the world.
After all Non-American Lives Matter too!
😉
I was happy to read the first couple of comments, but then I read the rest. Yikes... Some gamers have serious anger issues. It's just a new console. Relax.
I'm very disappointed by this but I fully understand and support the decision made by Sony.
#JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #BlackLivesMatter
PS5 will be out and will still be waiting for this to happen.
@Gladiator995 Listen, I apologize for starting the name calling, it was unnecessary. But your comments come off as very ignorant and offensive, and have clearly triggered people on this site. In all seriousness, please read the book, "The New Jim Crow" and you'll have a better understanding of the systemic racism that exists in our country. Stay safe, and please remember that words have meaning and can hurt, whether intentional or not.
@Neolit you too playa.how is it up there in your country.in new york where im from its so crazy out there that the mayor just announced curfew for new york.11 pm to 5 am.word up son
Oh for god sakes, Sony! Grow some ***** balls and announce the damn thing already! I'm still yet to actually understand how something, while admittedly tragic, affects gaming, specifically an event that isn't even hosted in a traditional confrerence format. If this thing fails it's on Sony's ***** decision to play chicken with a system that should have been announced months ago.
@zebric21 Yep, Trump's second term still to come too.
Whaaaaaat? I suppose with all that's happening in the States it is probably a wise decision.
To all the people asking why we didn't see anything like this for the Hong Kong stuff... Tencent has their fingers in many gaming industry (and others) pies, and they report directly to the Chinese Communist Party.
These companies will only pretend to care about stuff like this when it doesn't hurt their bottom line.
You guys disappointed obviously feel like the protests don't deserve to have the spotlight on them so the message can be heard by everyone.
Black lives matter 🙌🏾
Great 🙄 2020 has turned into the most politically charged year in modern history... lemme know when this is all over and we can a new date for the event.
Completely understandable with all the events happening here in the U.S. Looking forward to the newly scheduled date.
@Royalblues Bollocks, as we say in the UK. Gamers will watch it and there's enough if us as there is.
This is a chicken ***** decision and you know it. Sony have just told their fanbase that live in other countries "Screw you!". Sure yet another delay doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but that's not really the point. They knew last Friday that things were kicking off in the States, why bother announcing anything if it was such a concern?
Sony is an American company now I guess.
🙄
Horrendous situation, right call
I know @LiamCroft has already mentioned this at the top of the thread, but please can you all take a deep breath before commenting.
If you see something you don't like, or find offensive, please resist the temptation to reply and push the Report button. We're not online 24 hours a day, but we will pick it up.
Thank you!
@Bamila And don’t forget who actually ends up paying for those government buildings you attack and burn down.. it is not the government because they only get money from you the tax payer..
@theMEGAniggle Of course they matter, no one is saying that they don't. Can't imagine anyone here NOT supporting the movement.
We just believe that running the event would not take the spotlight away from anything. This is false... opposition. I guess Sony feared a backlash or [instert a cynical comment about something else being the reason for delay and current events being used as an excuse]. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. It's a sweet candy being temporarily taken away from us but we're not children, we will be ok.
@LemonHaze or you can look at it from the human perspective and see that maybe some things are more important than a frigging new console...
This comment section is disgustingly political; don't care what your politics are tbh.
STFU about it. No one cares.
@Col_McCafferty Well Sony did take the decision move PlayStation department decision making power from its offices like those in Europe and have centralised it all in the US...
I believe you mean Antifa....all a coordinated attack...they want us against each other..United we are unstoppable....they know it....
I'll be really frank; if any of you truly believe that this event should not have been cancelled for the reasons given, then you are part of the problem.
@Royalblues wrong no you don’t, the US maket is not as big as all the other countries round the globe Sony sells in, not by a long long long way.
I honestly don’t get it. Yeah it’s a nice gesture of Sony, but I don’t see the connection between a gaming giant and what happened in a single country to a single person.
Every day lots of people die around the world because of injustices.
But when 1 black person in America dies through an injustice, then it’s some kind of special thing?
I mean I don’t care that they postpone it. But the reason for postponing it to me means they could have postponed it all year around due to injustices being committed.
I don’t live in Europe and I don’t live in America. It makes me feel a bit as if Americans think they are more important than other countries. Here in Japan Sony would never postpone anything for such reasons. And I bet if the event would have been held in Japan, it wouldn’t have been postponed.
I’m probably just sick that the world always only cares about America.
None of this matters. The consoles will come out, and sell out through Christmas just like every other launch. I’m sure this will be show before the end of June, but it really doesn’t matter.
Hate how Sony has turned political after they moved the global headquarters from Tokyo to California. It's like the only thing that matters is pushing that sweet agenda.
Really sad, but well, time to wait.
@tatsumi the fact that you think it happened to a single person is proof that you have 0 idea what is going on.
This is an issue that has been rampant for years and has been escalating like crazy.
A black paramedic was shot in her own home because police in plain clothes executed a search warrant on the wrong house without identifying themselves.
George floyd had a cop kneeling on his neck for over 8 minutes and was strangled to death because of it.
A man was shot dead in neighborhood by 2 white men because he "looked like a criminal".
A black woman in canada "fell" from her balcony after police were responding to a distress call in the apartment.
A black man was assaulted by a white man while leaving his girlfriend's house because he looked like he might be a burglar.
These protests were peaceful when Sony announced this event, and only escalated because police again used way more force than necessary.
Do some research before opening your mouth next time. These are just a few examples of racism across both the us and Canada.
A quick browse of reddit will show you way more than I have highlighted here.
@tatsumi Ultimately they've made their decision and we now need to move on now and respect it. This event will air eventually, we just need to be a little more patient.
Good call Sony, we've waited this long, we can wait a bit longer.
With all the unrest at the moment over a VERY serious issue in US, it would have looked very crass to go ahead.
I look forward to the presentation, but I look forward to people calming down as justice is served on some really nasty pieces of work and going forward steps are taken to stop this brutality happen again from those who are supposed to be serving the public trust.
Yeah, things currently suck, so why not make it suck more.
PEOPLE!! CHILL!!! and REMEMBER....
18 DAYS TO GO!!
This comment section is a perfect example as to why Sony delayed the event.
Racial tensions are high across the world. Let’s be better. The US, do not represent the world.
@Neolit. Its crazy that foxygames uk predicted that.i was on you tube and he say that its going to be cancel.people should get along no matter theyre color.im a dark skin black man in nyc but racism is everywhere.but not all white people are racist.a lot of bad cops everywhere its ridiculous.people are tired of racist cops.and they need to put all of them no good cops in jail.cant kill someone and expect no retaliation.the black people had enough.and its about time.because i been saying this to my friends for more than 10 years a white cop kill a black man.nothing happened to them.but a black man kill a cop they found him right away.they pressure them tovarrest the white cop.if it wasnt for thst he would get free.the other cops need to be in jail also.its all good though play.you cool neolit.stay safe dog .word ☝ up son
@Royalblues
Sony doesn't specifically market their system in the US and is, as a matter of fact, hugely popular outside the USA in Europe and Asia. Why the hell does a console release have to get caught up in politics?...surely that seems against the point of gaming as an escape?
At this point the only celebration would be the system actually damn releasing and being out the way so things can actually happen and move forward. Again, they need to bite the bullet, grow some balls and actually release the thing. We are sick of waiting and the world doesn't wait forever. Right now it seems like convenient procrastination and it's annoying nonetheless when the opportunity and window was open long ago and is closing by the second.
To come back to the point: 108 million PS4's sold across a plethora of countries kinda indicates that Sony's market is wider than what you assert, especially compared to a tragically low less than half of that for Xbox one becauseof a more tragic E3 launch. Regardless, if it is "the wrong time" then surely every dev would feel obliged to jump aboard. Unfortunately, this isn't the case and business or the show must go on, despite the tragedy. Politics always happens and this is going to start to seriously eat into their sucess if it carries on as people are losing patience and a the PS5's initiall success hinges on preorders that aren't even live yet, thus why it will seriously affect the trajectory henceforth.
This has seriously given Xbox an advantage and it's an inexplicable blunder to boot. Long story short: business is businesses and Sony can't get caught up in it. They have to stay above water to meet a bottom line, especially considering the PS5 is set to be more expensive which may only act to only further alienate Sony from the fanbase when you also account for this stupid playing chicken game with Xbox's price, etc.
@Futureshark I don’t understand the protest currently. Cop murders guy, then cop is fired and arrested. What are people protesting, racism is bad? Well, duh.
What happened was disgusting and horrible. I don't really see the connection between the two things though.
If the event had gone ahead would anyone have accused Sony of insensitivity???
@ALH Yes thats my point, I think it’s a mistake Sony will be paying for. Part of So us global reshuffle since the old CEO left. Especially making the US the centre of a global market, a market that does have a direct competitor to go and purchase...
Well hopefully our normal insiders will go ahead and just leak whatever they were gonna show before they do the event. Seeing as how Sony clearly doesnt know how to run a company anymore.
@__jamiie Nobody, that's who.
From a political and ethical standpoint, this makes sense. A lot of other companies are showing their support, and for one as big as Sony to not follow suit, it would bring a lot of negative attention from people that are very angry right now, and looking for a fight. Though we may question what this has to do with gaming, politics run through everything in our lives, and sometimes we are forced to partake in them.
My views on the matter are that all lives should matter, and if this was the other way around, with a white person being killed by another ethnicity, it wouldn't elicit the same response, but it's a tragedy nonetheless and should not have happened. However, I feel strongly for the black community, as (especially prevalent in the US) they are sterotyped far too often, and to dangerous effect.
I fear that this movement will only strengthen the hate for white people, even though I don't believe that the intentions of the movement is to do that, unfortunately "fight fire with fire" tends to be the result.
We need to think logically as to why Sony have made this decision, and I imagine there was a lot of deliberation before they did. Like a 2 minute silence for those lost during the wars, it's a mark of respect for something that is happening right now. I don't think this will hurt Sony if they need to wait a week or two, but it would have damaged their integrity if they hadn't stood alongside other companies.
@Bamila
Geez, I never said anyone should burn down the government! I said that the looting seems completely unnecessary because the people being looted have nothing to do with the government/police that protesters are protesting against.
@Neolit
If I recall, it's no so much that Trump praised the white supremacists so much that he didn't condemn them. I know the media has twisted some of his words in the past, but regardless, that's what I remember!
This is what happens when you bring tribal politics into gaming, and i can tell you now half of the ones that'll be complaining will be "White" middle class types. Of course BLM respect all black lives, after all they are black. Is pretty much like saying Islamists respect all Muslims lives, when Muslim are the ones that are overwhelmingly the ones who are victims of Islamists terror attacks. Hyperbolic but you get the point. Anyway even though we share certain skin colour types we are still all different, and these millionaire, middle class politician white types need start coming away from identity politics and stop dividing us all because we are easier to control in groups.
@LemonHaze you literally said it's a marketing ploy... its not. End of story.
@__jamiie @Zach_99 It's not about insensitivity or PlayStation's popularity outside of the US.
As they state in their Tweet, they want to step aside so other voices can be heard.
I'm sure we won't have to wait too long for the broadcast.
@Constable_What I don't like the "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY??" attitude of many of the comments, mostly stemming from people reading the original comment incorrectly and putting words in each other's mouths. I'm definitely never clicking on an article like this again! Lol
what's happened is a horrible miscarriage of Justice, the protests are welcome and expected but I don't condone the violent riots/looting that's happening across the nation. While I completely understand their decision, I am incredibly bummed out as I've been looking forward to this event to give me some much needed positive content to consume. Words can't describe how HYPED I am for the PlayStation 5! I am so sick of waiting for Sony to reveal the PS5 already, it's been taking forever to learn anything new about the console or games themselves. We are ALL human, we ALL love gaming, we ALL deserve to be loved/respected no matter what the circumstances, we NEED to move past all this division and stand as a nation united against the injustices dealt. Happy gaming my friends, stay peaceful & stay safe 😉💨✌️
If you commented on been angry that you aren't getting your stream this week or think it's a bad business move and politics shouldn't come into it. Then I strongly suggest that you do yourself a favour and have a long hard think at your thought processers because right now you are not understanding what is happening.
Understandable. Now millions of people are let down by looters and rioters who care nothing for the deceased man. How does trashing a store and stealing a TV help his memory.
Gutted but a good call nonetheless...
@get2sammyb In that case it could be construed that the reason for the delay is that Sony want to minimise anything taking coverage away from the event.
I'm not against the postponement by the way. There will always be more important things than a console reveal. I just suspect that Sony's motivations were less to do with ethics and more about loss of exposure and audience potential.
Understandable!
@Geordiedave Because those people are angry because NOT A SINGLE peaceful action in the last years changed ANYTHING.
I am against riots, too. But I can totally understand the reason for it.
Honestly I don't agree. What's going on is terrible, both the original event and the violent riots that are destroying countless lives of all people and races (by equally diverse rioters), however, I think something positive to think about like a PS5 reveal would be a welcome distraction. I think it's a perfect time to take a moment to celebrate something unrelated instead of focusing entirely on the vast negativity and destruction that the human race engages in sometimes.
@get2sammyb As I said, I am fine with postponement. Sony can do what they want and what they feel is right.
I personally just don't get the connection between a world-wide gaming event and whatever is happening in only America. Because I don't live in America and how I see it is that if a company postpones a world event for only America, they should also postpone for any similar things that happen outside of America. Means they would have to postpone is quite often. Equality for the world.
@torne No I don't know exactly what is going on. I am not American, I never lived in America, I don't care about America. There is enough ***** going on here in Japan regarding racism (and not only racism, but sexual harassment, domestic violence, lots of stuff because of inequality between men and women, because of simply being a foreigner, especially black, and so on) as well and many other countries, our media is just so corrupt that you never hear of it (you barely hear in Japanese media about the Kurd guy who went through police brutality here in Japan and did a demonstration just this past weekend, granted he wasn't killed. But he was injured). What I am saying is simply for Sony to treat the whole world as equal. But too often I feel like what happens in America seems more important than whatever happens elsewhere in the world and I do feel a bit sick of that, plus I just woke up and need a coffee. I wish giant companies would sometimes stand behind people in Japan as well.
Just don't get me wrong, I do respect Sony's decision. Its a nice gesture. I am just sick that I never hear of such a gesture outside of the US.
It is kind of tough finding the right balance of words between what I want to say and still being sensitive to the discriminated people in America. Maybe after I had a coffee.
@Neolit Ah, I didn't know that! Over a year ago, I actually looked into some of the things Trump said and saw that the media framed them out of context so I'm not surprised. Geez, there's so much misinformation out there these days (in general), people can basically just believe whatever they want!
@Jaz007 The good things will come. PS5 is going nowhere, and this event is probably already prepared to air seeing as it's pre-recorded.
We just need to sit tight a few more days and we'll get to see everything unfold.
In the meantime, we can continue to speculate about what we eventually expect to see!
This is just fuel on the fire that's been Sonys silence for 6 months. As irritated as everyone is the only way to really show your displeasure with how there running this is with your wallets.
@Neolit. I havent deal with racism or police in new york.but a lot of black people does.i dont do drugs.so its?all good.its the cops thats killing black people i got a huge problem with.word up son
I get what's going on right now, however the company is a joke. They clearly knew what's going on and decided to announce it anyway. I ask myself why?. This has put me off purchasing the console and really pondering on getting a series X instead. Getting everyone's hopes up and then boom.
It's a small thing, but it feels like losing yet another little hopeful light. Soon all that will be left is the long dark night.
Sony wants its big event to make a splash ahead of the PS5 launch.
NOTHING else is making a splash with what's happening in America right now.
It shouldn't be surprising that Sony delayed their event.
@Ken_Kaniff 100 percent agreed.
@get2sammyb get real. "In a few days". Mate you're looking until at least July or end of July. Sony messed up completely. I as a playstation guy am pissed off to the max for knowing these events are going on and announcing it anyways. My money will go on series X instead. Trust me
They absolutely made the correct decision, but this is a corporate PR move and nothing else. If this announcement or the other tweet included information about what the protests were actually about, and how the layperson could educate themselves and positively contribute, it'd be one thing, but it's not. They shouldn't be given credit for something they are not doing.
What will Sony do when they finally realise that what we are witnessing is the first stages of the collapse of a multi-racial empire and hard Balkinisation comes next. No more games for the rest of the world? Diversity folks, just don't do it.
disgusting, you can't postpone life because 'bad stuff' despite the awful reveals from Microsoft they're staying ahead, well ahead, Sony is running any pre orders they hope to get this summer, I imagine they're just stupid and don't care and regardless it will sell out day one anyway. Now is a time to uplift everyone with enjoyment.
@playstation1995 Not everyone. Most people on this site.
@Royalblues You know it's not just Sony doing this? Pretty much the entire music industry has said they're not releasing any music this week.
@Zach_99 The US market is smaller for the PS4 than it is in Europe. Something like 11 million less sold in the US.
For those saying now is the time for distractions and escapes... it’s definitely not. This is not an issue people should ignore until it goes away. If this was just the pandemic, then maybe, but not this.
@Makina couldn’t agree more the world could be going to hell and back let’s keep the entertainment rolling! Usa has real issues, wich they do and let’s postpone
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HVEvAWXCwwc
And another video about a NBL player say burn that stuff (words to that effect) now look at his twitter line. It's funny how his tune changed when it came to his gated community. Protest yes, I believe other have hurt as well, but don't go to areas you don't live in and burn, steal etc. That's not hard to understand.
@Lionheart5 Oh well, that's your decision.
I watched the grocery store I grew up going to get looted and the bank I opened my first account at burn down on Friday so I get it. Still wish I had this to look forward to. Need some distractions now more than ever.
It sucks real bad over here right now, even being from California in a liberal area we have been completely divided on every basic issue in what can only be characterized as an attack. Race baiting and class warfare dominates the news cycle. Sorry guys, this delay is 100% on us. Makes you feel better I voted for Bernie in the primary four years ago and again this year.
@Eldritch You're comparing an entire continent to one country, make no mistake. The United States is Sony's largest market.
No new date? Hmm.....
Sometimes you wonder why the world is so crazy. How is that possible?
Then you read comments on the internet..
@Link41x No, I'm going on the way statistics are worked out. If they don't break up the statistics by individual countries I can't be blamed for that.
Respect. Good move.
So many political views on here and saying it's just a PR stunt, we all want to know what Sony are planning.. yes.. but things in life are way more important than some new games for you to play, it doesn't matter what Sony's objective was, but they have postponed. Move on and support those who matter!
@AdamNovice I understand what's going on and am still annoyed that they postponed it.
Shame. We all need some good news. Especially state side. I get it i guess. But man i was sure looking forward to a little light in the dark.
@zebric21 or forget! Ugh. What a time to be alive.😶
Seriously what's wrong with 2020, I hope this whole situations get better soon 😕
Sony shouldn’t have cancelled this event IMO. I know how the situation is in America ATM but PlayStation is a worldwide brand. I was personally looking forward to seeing some next gen games. Hoping TLOU2 doesn’t get delayed either but can totally see it happening.
Bummer. I needed something to take me away from this rioting / covid nightmare we are living in.
@LemonHaze yea okay... thanks...?
Common business sense. Not going to praise them for it. It's a shame all this is happening.
Well, more terrible things are happening and the world burns a little more. May I suggest we all jump off a cliff when travel permits it? On a serious note, I understand BLM because there is still racism in the police force and a clear biased attitude, made evident by ratio of black/white arrests, this is possibly somewhat due to black communities being terribly poor. When you realise this you get closer to the root of the problem. Capital. Poor Lives Matter should really be the slogan, but they never will to a system where the 1% control everything and the most ruthless prevail.
@Col_McCafferty coz you are a douche maybe? I’m a person of colour and hate being treated like a lesser person.
@Eldritch
This isn't the music industry or the entertainment industry to a certain extent; It's an announcement of a console. Pure and simple. I mean, are you effectively trying to tell me the news industry has stood still, because I have some news for you that you might already know, homeslice.
Here'sthe low down: the market, wherever it was, was clearly big enough that Sony outsold the Xbox by more than half or by 3:1 because of smart marketing and a flawless launch. This pretty much is seems the opposite of that and seems like convenient procrastination and issues beneith the surface.
Gamers are annoyed and this has nothing to do with politics, because the window was open months ago, despite current US affairs obviously being tragic. I'd understand if this was another 911, but it isn't.
My opinion is also not irrespective of current events, don't get me wrong because it is a tragedy, however, I feel politics is perhaps hinging on this way more than it needs to be and given the circumstances, and Sony's quietness thus far, that isn't exactly working in their favour or reflecting well on their new system or the percived confidence in their new console.
Lastly, dare I say it seems indicative of complacency after the PS4 success. It's time for Sony to move on and get it over with, because there has been enough bullsh*t so far and not enough transparency. Considering preorders have to be based on something, they may very well be missing an opportunity by whatever this is (aside from the pandemic and Black Lives Matter 2.0).
@Royalblues good words. I hope you didn't get the wrong impression from my comment. I'm fully against all kind of violence, discrimination, humiliation, and whatever attitude that points that someone is superior to another. Sadly is something present in all orders of human society, even within families. It's like we (as humans) cannot exist without a piramid of power and privileges.
It's a cold day in hell. Sad to see this happen...
@Eldritch Uhm...you just compared the US(One country) to Europe( a whole continent). I'm pretty sure that's not how it's compared. Also, Europe is a larger continent than North America, so of course it has more sales overall. However, the US alone, has the largest market individually. Hence why the event was cancelled. Not trying to say Europe isn't important(because it is), but it's just a fact that the U.S. alone, has a lot of impact around the world.
I agree with Sony on this move at this time. Its a travesty that the looting, fires, destruction of property, and anarchy in the streets have drowned out George Floyd's death and peaceful protests.
@pip_muzz I totally understand there are all kinds of troubles in the world to fix and support. Events like what's going on in HK, the Covid, refugees, etc. And all of these things are usually fleeting and may pass after a few years or decades. Racism however is an inner hate/sin which some politicians stir up and use as a political weapon to segregate, divide, to break down communities. It effects the workplace, the playground, heck even just walking on a street! Eventually people will forget Covid, eventually people will forget HK riots, or those years of Brexit! These things will be part of a small piece of history. No fear of being prejudiced by them or media bombarding us with them anymore. We don't judge our gaming avatars by how they look, so why not apply this to our fellow man in real life? We gamers have moved on from our childish 'my consoles is better than yours' mentality/media and I think this gen have accepted all gaming is a flipping awesome - a place where we just have fun! Gamers United
@WCB. You blame diversity? Don't make me laugh. Maybe Americans shouldn't have taken Africans into slavery? Diversity (Eye roll). Nobody asked "take me to America, I dream of one day being a second class citizen!"
Sad news but completely understandable why it had to be postponed.
I hope everyone stays healthy and safe.
@LiamCroft If I were you guys, I'd have disabled comments on this.
I totally understand and respect this decision. I was looking so forward to this PS5 event and we have plenty of time for that but what's happening is way more important an Sony has a heart and shows they care.
Completely the right decision. Unbelievable scenes in America right now, feel so upset and angry for the black community, and truly hope that a peaceful solution can be found and justice for those wronged and murdered. Just feels like the world is on fire at the moment.
Games can wait.
@torne now look I wasn't gonna say anything but you throwing up all this white hate stuff. Dudes partner was asian and he just stood there. So let's not look at the skin my brother and look at the injustice. Also people are killing people for their stuff in the "protests". The old adage don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch. There are millions of whites, blacks, yellows, and reds out there and unfortunately human nature is still ugly at times. Now with Sony do I agree? No not really we need to start a healing process sometime and someone is going to have to be brave enough to start that process.
I only wonder if this was a good idea because an actual announcement would have generated some sort of hype that would have contributed to calming the people down a little.
Nevertheless i understand that this is not a question of tension, but to focusing on what is really the priority at this time.
@olderspidey
Last I checked no one has been brought to America for slavery in our lifetime. We fought and bled to correct it. May I point something out whites were also indentured back then. Hate is just hate, I grew up a poor white kid who identified more with the Evans Family from Goodtimes than anything else I saw. Somehow today I have people telling me I'm privileged. I'm one generation removed from my grandmother being called wop off the boat. I don't know you and you don't know me but I do know. I have no right to throw any stones and I've always tried to love my neighbors even if I don't understand their lifestyle. It's not mine to judge after all so again let hate go.
It's ironic that the LA convention centre now resembles a military base so it's likely E3 would have been cancelled anyway this year if there was no coranavirus.
@Darthrau Wow. I was just responding to that other guy (I forget his screen name) blaming diversity for hate and violence. I'm sure you didn't mean me with your final sentence, but I have Zero hate in my heart. I have been subject to prejudice myself. Peace.
This is a case of political pressure, over any decision with actual substance.
Are the issues currently surrounding George Floyd, and racism an issue around the world? Yes, of course they are. Is a Playstation press conference in anyway seriously going to have any sort of culpable detriment towards it, or the movement as a whole in any significant way? No, it's not.
I get that Sony most likely had to bow to social pressures, but this, in my eyes is just a political decision to score points.
This is like those messages you see people put up on Facebook that have some sort of compassionate message, but do absolutely nothing to actually fix the problem. They would have made much more of a statement with a donation to a cause, than by this empty, virtue signalling, politically driven narrative.
@keihtg He literally called white supremacists "fine people" during a live broadcast so yeah, he is pro white supremacy based on his own wording.
I'm disappointed that they cancelled the event.
I'm disappointed that they haven't given a new date.
I'm disappointed that protests like these are still necessary in some countries.
I'm disappointed that some people misuse the situation to plunder supermarkets.
I'm disappointed I won't see Knack 3 on Thursday.
I'm disappointed.
Russia invaded my country and is killing, kidnapping and torturing our people every day since 2014. Does America care? Does Sony care? Is someone in US postponing something because people are being killed in Ukraine just for their race and spoken language?
Sony, you don't care about it the same way that I don't care about that black man killed by police. I don't care about any protests in US.
Sony, you are a JAPANESE company, seems that you have forgotten about that.
All of these Sony's delays and postponings only suggest that Sony is doing poorly, especially against the background of competitors.
But there is nothing we can do but wait for Sony to pack its *****. I'm disappointed, but I've just started playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate and it will take a lot of time so I don't care.
If Sony cancelled the PS5 at all, people would just buy an Xbox and continue playing games.
When is the right time then??? Millions of bad things happen EVERY DAY in the World so does that mean we have to cancel everything every time then? I didn't realise the USA = The World to? This event is a ONLINE event for everyone around the WORLD SONY. The WORLD doesn't just = the USA. Oh well.
Gutted, 2020 really is a dumpster of a year. Whilst there are far more important things going on in the world than video games the PS5 is a small light in what is otherwise a crappy year so this is disappointing but I respect Sony's decision and look forward to the reveal event in the future.
@sawaoyamanaka I'm.sure you do and it sucks but wtf has it got to do with 1)gaming and 2) the rest of the world?
Just because your country is screwed up why should everyone else suffer?
A few delays here and there are understandable and accepted but why announce an event just last Friday only to cancel within the space of a few days?
I think Sony have bottled it.
@skaarj217 American here. News coverage of Russia's invasion of Crimea is ashamedly absent in the current day, but if it means anything... I haven't forgotten about it, at least, even if I'm pretty oblivious to the ongoing atrocities there. Just brought it up in an unrelated post on another site a day or two ago, actually.
I'm very sorry for what your country is going through, and that my own's attention to it departed along with our last president.
@Col_McCafferty how is anyone “suffering” because of delayed announcement of video games???
I'm personally disappointed.
Edit: I wanted to add this, as I am not American.
This does not appear to be something that can be fixed over the course of a single week, month or year. So why use this as a reason to post pone? It won't be a better time next month either...
@Tharsman Mate, don't be that person.
@Col_McCafferty maybe you didn’t read between the lines: that’s precisely what I am telling you. Stop being that kind of ***** person, “mate”.
@Tharsman it's been a really terrible year, one of the only things that I look forward to these days are games.
@Octane I'm disappointed that your disappointed 😉
@Tharsman Whatever. Yes in the grand scheme of things this isn't that a big of a deal and yet here you are, on a gaming website, where we talk about games, so it's fair to say that gaming has more significance in your life than others. Same for me.
I'll get over it but I just think it's a crap decision on Sony's part and is a bit of a "F You!" to all their fans that live outside of America. Of which there are many!
What, Sony going to wait until racism is eradicated completely in the US before releasing their PS5? If so then damn, we got a long wait!
Really disappointed, but the decision is entirely understandable.
Hope that Sony feel able to reveal soon - but it is what it is - and some things are more important.
Stay safe. Stay sane!
The decision is not understandable at all. In fact it's incredibly offensive to all the people in the world who have been suffering in the past, at the same time when Sony was showcasing their previous games and consoles. From wars, through genocides, famine, draught, earthquakes to tsunamis, come on sony WTF???!!
Gutted, proper gutted. But it's totally understandable. There are far more serious things going on in the world right now that we as a society have to deal with and put right. My gut says beginning to mid july??? For the next reveal date.
Bad bad BAD things have happened and will remain to happen because this is the way the world works. BLM is a worthy cause but cant see how this should affect the announcement of a console.. bad things have happened this year already.... How many people died and continue to die still to this day and now they decide to delay the reveal?? Lol get your priority straight Sony. USA ain't the only country on this planet :/
@playstation1995 And don’t take the comment personally. Sheesh.
I’m still damn annoyed about this! America is a violent race and country and refuses to change. I really don’t care about the place, and it does not equal the world! Sony’s primary biggest market is outside the US, and considering the rest of the world has been in lock down for several months with thousands dying currently from the virus alone, they need to be very careful as no doubt this could have already cost them sales, by seemingly prioritising a market and country no one cares about over everyone else.
@East76landS People like you who still support Trump are the equivalent to the people from Persona 5. the ones who couldn’t think for themselves and still supported Shido despite his crimes and numerous scandals. Sheep.
@Darthrau I am not trying to throw up ant white hate stuff at all. I simply posted examples of what has been happening. I am as white as the get, and a pretty privileged guy from canada. But I am also part of a minority because I am gay so I understand being discriminated against.
I dont believe that it is only white people that is part of the problem at all.
That being said this is getting horribly off topic. I agree with sonys stance on this and I am not changing my mind about that. Riggt now it's time to let other voices be heard.
I'm very, very disappointed but I understand Sony's move.
Perhaps now it's not the time.
I don't even think that releasing new consoles in 2020 is even a good idea seeing how screwed the world is right now (and only looking to get worse, it seems...)
Anyone with an ounce of decency is distraught by what is happening even if it directly affects just the US (and I say "directly" because, in truth, racism is present everywhere, even whites suffer it, we all do), BUT let's be honest, Sony's decision was purely based on business.
They even said that themselves: "we want to stand back and allow more important voices be heard"
Why go on with an event that could be drowned among all the other news that'll choke the media that day?
The event wouldn't have the effect that Sony wants it to have. They want all eyes on them and right now, that's just not possible.
So, it is a very understandable decision but a purely business based one. I appreciate their decision but I won't give them credit that they don't deserve.
We can wait, there are more urgent matters at hand. The problem is that this wait is not going to be "a few days". Things are going to be hot for the foreseeable future.
@Akurusu you're the sheep my friend, it's just you're probably still a bit too naive to see it yet.
@Sanctanox Being angry at the death of a defenceless man is understandable but why hit a shopkeeper over the head in NYC with a plank of wood. She was not responsible, she did not kill him, she did not try to justify it.
Granted there is genuine anger but there are also those who are using this tragedy to loot and steal and destroy the livelyhoods of innocent people. That makes the rioters criminals and that, in no way shape or form, has anything to do with Mr Floyd's death. It is pure opportunism to take what is not theirs. And they are giving the police all the leverage to come down hard on those participating in the riots.
Ask yourself this, do you think Mr Floyd's family are OK with innocent shopkeepers being assaulted and robbed in his name?
As someone who got to live state repression first hand as a Venezuelan, and have to still listen to some people talk about it as if I had allucinated the whole thing, as someone who lived for work in Memphis during 2014 and 2015 (Ferguson protest and so on), I will say this:
1- I understand the people supporting Sony's decision and feeling thankful for their support, since yes indeed, black lives matter.
2- I understand the people angry at Sony because, why doing this now and ignoring everything else (heck I had both state police and palamilitary shooting at my apartment windows for protesting and it was all fine and dandy).
3- I understand Sony since my whole timeline on any social media is full of statements about the situation, so the PR backlash would have been too much for something as important.
4- I understand those who believe there is some political underline to this whole thing and get a bit too testy about it, after all the why now? question has an easy to guess answer.
5- I understand the protesters (though never the looters), I understand the anger and I understand the injustice at least to a point, I have not lived it, so no matter how much empathy as I can have I cannot really understand, Memphis was a peculiar experience, being both white and non-white I was able to share with people of all the communities and they were always open and friendly to me, and the reality is like two parallel universes with very little in common.
The one thing I can always advice is look at the facts, don't undermine the opinion of others, if you're actually right, prove it and find the common ground which at least should be that "no needless deaths at the hands of the police should occur"
@AFCC it’s complete chaos in the US unfortunately right now. So much looting going on and property destruction. Government is considering deploying the army in the streets, (hopefully doesn’t happen). It’s pretty serious.
I feel that a lot of company's at this stage are frightened not just the likes of Sony but a lot of other industries as well. The world is on the knife edge yet again but it always manages to right itself in the end.
If I could say one thing it's just 'keep moving forward' that's what we have had to do in the past that's what we have to do now!
@thefirst Not to detract from the tragedy of the killing of that little girl, but I feel like you're missing the point. The riots aren't just about the killing of George Floyd, it's about the treatment of black people in America as a whole. His death was the tipping point that set off years of pent up aggravation and aggression towards systematic racism. History has proven time and time again, if group A constantly pushes group B, group B will grow tired of it all and fight back.
@olderspidey
I seen that and am sorry if you felt lambasted. The general message does stand again I'm sorry I had come from Twitter where the hate and blame was just ....well indescribable.
@Excep7ional it's amazing how many people are missing this point and attributing it to "just one death" it's not just one and thank you for continuing to point that out. I tried as well but got accused of promoting white hate which was not the intent at all.
@Oriion god damn! I know the government deserves to be looted etc but there are so many innocent people suffering from these actions...it makes me sad.
P.s I'm not being political, every government deserves to be looted cause they all steal from us 😂
@Darthrau no worries
