E3 2020 might have been cancelled, but that didn't stop the French powerhouse of Ubisoft from putting on its own digital event and showcasing a selection of its upcoming titles. So, what did the event actually play host to? We saw much more of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion with in-depth gameplay demonstrations for both, Far Cry 6 was officially announced following its PlayStation Store leak on Friday, and we learned more about Hyper Scape.
That's what Ubisoft had to show, but what did you make of it? Do you think the publisher is ready for the next generation with a huge slate of interesting PlayStation 5 titles, or does it appear to be playing catch up? Place your vote in our poll and share your full thoughts in the comments below.

It was alright. Watch Dogs Legion sounds ambitious and I like it, Far Cry 6's debut trailer was very well-crafted, I do not care for the multiplayer game and AC Valhalla felt underwhelming. A bit disappointed we didn't see some new IPs or the return of missing IPs/announced games, but oh well. It was a solid first stream for Ubisoft.
I found that to be incredibly underwhelming. None of these games will likely be day one purchases for me.
Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla are looking very good, Far Cry 6 no gameplay so no comment lol, the rest meh!
Ok but hot much in the way of surprises. Watch Dogs looks promising but AC Valhalla still looks far too much like the last one.
Not really. I'm a big Ubisoft fan, enjoy most of their games I've played and the only that is a must play is Far Cry 6. I've never actually played a FC game but the trailer sold me on it. Rest of it I was literally watching on mute while grilling and listening to music. Disappointing overall but looking forward to February!
Watch Dogs looks promising and Valhalla as well but their release dates aren't great with Cyberpunk around. Other than that it was very underwhelming with many of its franchises MIA.
Overall a 5 because of the lack of imagination in going with the usual suspects
My first purchase from this will be Feb next year ;(
I thought it flowed well. Apart from the mobile stuff it was pretty decent.
I thought it was okay. Watch Dogs felt all over the place. The movie trailer that felt way off from the actual game and tone. Just didn't do it for me.
I wanted to see more of FC6 to be honest.
Meh. It was okay-ish. Leagues ahead of EA's terrible event last month though. Valhalla looked better than expected, and I'm sort of interested in WDL and FC6. Everything else looked very boring.
I voted very poor cause it did meet my expectations. Also it's rayman's 25th really crushed they ain't doing anything with it. And still no confirmation on the Scott pilgrim rerelease!
My takeaway from Ubi forward is $20 for complete editions of AC: Valhalla and Far Cry 6 and that's it. I'm not sure if it's my disillusionment with Ubisoft or AAA games in general. Mostly I was just bored.
It was about what I expected really. Watch Dogs 3 looks fine, and Assassins Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6 might be good.
The facial animations in AC Valhalla look like a PS3 game. Really poor event overall. It's gotten to the point where you can just watch Sonys events and ignore the rest. Because these third party ones are never that good.
I liked Watch Dogs the most, sounds like it's going to be fun playing different characters, plus the game looks well-polished, so yeah! AC Valhalla was alright tbh, I don't get why people are complaining! it's basically a cross-gen game so we're not gonna have major improvements (I pretty much liked Odyssey, therefore I'm fine with how this one's looking)
Given that Far Cry 6 releases in 2021, I guess it's gonna look good visually, but I'm definitely expecting more gameplay-wise! At the end, none of these are day one for me...
Incredibly underwhelming! 30 minutes in and I still wasn’t interested in anything. They should’ve advertised that it would be a Watch Dogs Legion special! Honestly!
The one thing I enjoyed about Ubisoft events (E3) was their diversity. That was definitely lacking.
Watchdog was the star of this show. Valhalla looked better than the leaked gameplay but I need to see more. Odyssey was a let down for me after origins. I do like the whole Viking setting though.
It was very... Predictable. Especially with the leaks. Though ACV, FC6 and WDL all looked great
I found it extremely boring if I'm honest. Watchdogs and AC look cool but would have had the same impact on me if just dropped on their YouTube channel one day. Not the worst presentation, just felt very unnecessary.
Its like Rayman doesnt even exist anymore😕 Legends is one of the best platforming games ever made imo
Very boring.
I wish they showed anything from the new game created by the the man behind Good and Evil, that is my most anticipated game from Ubisoft but sadly it is MIA since the last trailer.
Didn’t watch the whole thing just AC as that’s all I’m interested in. Think Valhalla looks very good as somebody who’s very interested in vikings/ that time period and all the mythology etc. Don’t think we’ve ever had a proper vikings before so I was impressed, not sure what else you could put in tbh!
What was shown was ok but overall I feel underwhelmed.
No news on beyond good and evil 2 and was hoping for Rabbids 2, maybe a new rayman or something different along the lines of child of light... you know something that doesn’t follow the Ubisoft open world formula because let’s face it AC, WD and FC are largely the same game with different paint.
I thought the show was very well put together. I liked hearing from the devs and getting extended gameplay looks. Looking forward to the next Forward.
No. Was slicker than EA, but nothing really excited me.
I really wish Ubisoft would stop dedicating so much time to people talking. Honestly I appreciate that someone needs to make the game assets and details but I don't need to hear from them. Ubisoft especially comes across one of 2 ways. Either they are way too overhyped and cringey about their games or they are completely devoid of any charisma whatsoever.
If they absolutely need someone to talk then they need to go back to what they did a few years ago at E3 and get someone like Aisha Tyler or someone else be it a comedian or just a recognizable face that actually can speak and make things interesting.
Nothing of interest to me.
Very average. The new Creed lost my attention quickly. The setting is good like Odessy but that stiff animation and bland facial movement is still there.... Still seems pretty similar gameplay wise to previous too. I played a bit of the previous Creed but man I got bored and gave up... It was far too big with nothing stand out to do... Its a classic UBI problem.
Legion looked better and certainly more interesting. Again though that stiff animation routines and pretty poor facial animation and detail on lesser NPC....
It's typical UBI... Nice visuals and a good eye to detail in their game Worlds but animation, ideas and most likely bags of filler drag the games down and out....
Idk. Perhaps I've become jaded somehow. It all looked very boring. I liked the Far Cry 6 trailer but I'm not interested in FPS 🙄
I like the ancient setting of AC games but why do they have to be AC games? That ruins it for me.
Viking game yes. Ancient Greece, yes. Pirates, yes. AC game — Never.
I was so looking forward to this as I love Ubisoft games usually but I felt bitterly disappointed.
A few multiplayer games that I had absolutely no interest in,a few mobile games which I have even less interest in and seemed a waste,no Gods And Monsters,Splinter Cell,Mario And Rabbids 2 or Prince Of Persia and Watch Dogs Legion failed to interest me at all.
The only thing I liked was Assassins Creed Valhalla (but I already knew I would) and Far Cry 6..but was hoping for at least some gameplay.
Ok my old man moan is over.
@Powerpellet totally agree. They should have stopped the AC franchise and just branded recent games something else as a new IP.
ubisoft is in trouble. they fail to innovate and churn out the same medicority time and time again with very few exceptions. not sure how long ubisoft management thinks it can survive in this competitive industry by simply pushing out lackluster sequels to stale ip.
I thought they had the best show this year, I been so disappointed this year with everything else not showing anything worth while. If ubisoft stick to the plan with watchdogs its going be insane. The first worth while watch dogs. The AC looks great nkt a big AC fan tho been getting into them lately with the last 2 finally a combat system that's not just hold X or Sqaure to parry 100 garuds lol.
Far cry 6 seems really interesting not sure what to think of it yet but it does have me hyped up. I was little disappointed they didn't announce there serect project yet or how it hasn't leaked. Thoight with this show they would at least announced it. So little annoyed about that. But maybe next show, prob want to save something for that, or just further behind with it than we thought.
It was poor IMO, I think Watch Dogs Legion looks good, same for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but besides the John Wick style gunplay that looks fun nothing really blew me away.
Ubisoft may as well have just waited to say anything about Farcry 6, no gameplay or at least in engine real time footage of what the game will look like.
Nothing of Gods & Monsters, no major new announcements and Skull & Bones was once again nowhere to be seen.
Ubiaoft should have left ACV and their new MP game for this event and they would have had something that makes sense to have an event for.
There was no point holding back stuff for another event, especially to avoid showing Farcry 6 gameplay, even a short thing would have been something.
Very poor event IMO.
The PS5 reveal event is the best thing this year, this blew.
@Ken_Kaniff Square enix is also a top developer in that regard.
Nothing in it that got me hyped, and visually it was very poor, there was nothing that screamed next gen, it all looked very current gen Ubisoft.
ACV was underwhelming. Nothing about the story. I want to know whats going on with the Assassins and Templars.
Assassin Creed Valhalla and FarCry are on the list.
Nothing that looked interesting to me. Ubisoft is a bad joke for me at this point.
The animations in AC were poor. You can tell the system hasn't been updated. Blending is almost non existent leading to a janky awkwardness to it. The facial and voice acting - let's not go there...
Seriously, where's Splinter Cell? A brand new, refreshing take on that would've created far more buzz then endless iterations of these games.
Legions does look nice though.
Dull as dish water same IPs again and again mobile announcements to game people didn't want but most likely China and Japan mostly. All those IPs they own and it's the same ones all the time it was boring and Watch Dogs Legion from what I saw if I saw it right with its map system looks like Ghost Recon Wildlands map system. Main boss surrounded by sub bosses each have so many missons for intel to get to the main one.
Gonna be a busy ps5 launch day i feel, many games over the few months prior to launch to.
Only game I liked was Assassin's Creed. And I feel like it's just a carbon copy of Odyssey but with Vikings. They really lost all of their creativity.
I was very impressed, though I felt like I was spoilered by some story bits.
I voted poorly cause after trailers for games that still hasn't come out has been a factor for me. No word still on Beyond Good and Evil 2. Nothing on God and Monsters, no digital gold or Ultimate edition for Assassins Creed Valhalla just standards for preorder. I know this years been bad year for everyone but last year they delayed games that had for this year and still no release date on those. I am excited for Far Cry 6 and Assassins Creed Valhalla, but I was excited for the other ones to. And would like to know if the first Assassins Creed is getting a remastered to.
A solid B. I was very very down on Valhalla after seeing the footage that leaked. People kept saying one should not judge a game by leaks, but it turned out the purpose of that video was to cut footage and insert it into the presentation so it was indeed the real deal.
BUT...
The walkthrough they did with the commentary and all convinced me that although in essence it's similar to the past two games, there're plenty new things, main one being how grounded the combat is right now. I'm back on board and looking forward to playing it.
Despite the leaks it was still enjoyable to watch. I give it a B, because half of the event was me trying to log in to their platform to get the goodies while their servers collapsed. That was not fun.
>"The French battle cry"
We surrender?
Really liked the look of Watch Dogs Legion but was disappointed that there was nothing on Beyond Good and Evil 2. My own fault for having unrealistic expectations, but it seems like we are way overdue for an announcement on this (even if it’s just to say they have pulled the plug on it 😥)
I didn't watch it and I still feel like they've wasted my time
@redd214 you should get farcry 3. Cheap on ps4 and imo the best of the bunch with an awsome story and protagonist.
Yeah I would say so.. I had incredibly low expectations from Ubi, there's nothing inspiring coming from their games anymore so I expected as much. Really a shadow of the company they used to be.
Sadly I have to agree with the more negative comments. This showcase was a bit...meh, decent, okay, average.
Watch Dogs Legion has always piqued my interest but the more I see if it the less I'm interested by it!
Don't care about mobile games nor Battle Royales.
AC Valhalla looks like a downgrade from Odyssey. That's not a good sign!
Far Cry 6? Never played a game from this series before and probably never will. Getting Gus onboard is a bit of a coup though.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Gods & Monsters were the two I was hoping to hear more about.
Maybe next time.
Actually I might have to rate it higher now as so many Xbox fanboys are taking what is an Xbox disclaimer on Far Cry 6 to mean that PS5 can't do 4K. The threads are hilarious with the complete nonsense they're spouting
Ubisoft innit. Everything is "okay".
Would've like to see some Skull n Bones.
@Kidfunkadelic83 thanl you for the recommendation!
@redd214 pleasure
Overall I thought it was good. It had a good snappy pace, they got on with it quickly and the dev sections were actually interesting! And they had game footage to show alongside any dev sections.
With Valhalla's release date at November 17th did anyone else think that might be a clue for next gen systems release date?
Love Ubisoft franchises they do not let me down
Death by open worlds.
It was...fine? I guess. All looked good, but nothing that gets me all that excited if I'm honest.
I always say this but go look up what games looked like when the Atari 2600 came out and then no one will complain about our current gen games. We are so spoiled. We get what we get, either we buy it or we don't.
hated far cry 4, AC:origins bored me to tears as did watch dogs.. so a press conference with the 8th, 12th and 3rd iterations of these franchises filled me with all the excitement of a sloth in torpor...
next gen is shaping up to be as massively disappointing this one for me.
Still no new Splinter Cell?
Well, it did "meet" my expectations. Not above, not below. Just exactly point on.
Therefore I am neither disappointed, nor amazed.
But I might end up buying all 3 games. This Far Cry might be the first FarCry for me to play since FarCry 2.
@Kidfunkadelic83 hey just want to say thanks again! Took the big plunge with my 3 bucks lol. Been playing for a few hours and I love it! If 6 is like this but more refined, it's a day 1!!
@redd214 if its farcry 3 your on about it wont be lol. 4 and 5 have pretty good gameplay mechanics but is let down by uninspired characters and stories. Obvioustly they look pretty sweet to buy i just myself bored after a few hours but with 3, i loved.
