Update (12/8/20): Media Molecule's livestream showcasing the Ratchet & Clank project in Dreams has been and gone. However, you can watch the video above, and we'd suggest you do. Josh Leman of Insomniac Games goes in-depth on the game, which is a 2D shoot-'em-up rather than a 3D platformer. If you're into Dreams creation or just want to see how a professional designer makes use of the tools, it's a very interesting hour or so.
Original Story: This is a very cool story for a dreary Monday. We've all talked about how developers could make use of Dreams; it would be really fun to see what a seasoned professional can do with the tools. We're about to get a taste of just that, thanks to Insomniac Games.
Media Molecule has said that designer Josh Leman of the Burbank studio is currently building a Ratchet & Clank game within Dreams, using community-made assets.
More than that, we'll get a look at the in-progress project with a livestream tomorrow, 11th August, at 5pm BST.
It will be fascinating to see how Leman has been making use of Dreams. Having worked on games like Marvel's Spider-Man and the Ratchet & Clank PS4 remake, he's been a pro for a while now, so this livestream should be worth a watch. We're definitely interested to see his Dreams version of the Lombax and robot duo.

Why? We're already getting a new Ratchet & Clank game! He should've made a Sly Cooper or Jak & Daxter game in Dreams instead!
Well,it's better than nothing.
@Mafia_Man19 I was gonna roll my eye at this comment but you're actually right! A Sly Game would have been a far better choice. But its Insomniac so 🤷🏾♂️ Still happy they are doing Some promotion of Dreams
Rift Apart alpha 0.00001 footage incoming
I'll be checking this out, if only to make myself feel even more useless at making games in this 😄
Can't have a comment section without a user whining. It is such an annoyance.... I think this is a neat thing that Josh Leman is doing for the Dreams platform, period.
@Mafia_Man19 well, it would make more sense if a designer at sucker punch created a sly cooper game in dreams. it more has to do with having a better understanding of the franchise and it being closer to their heart etc... but, perhaps sony has big plans for dreams and will encourage all of its studios to dedicate a small team for dreams creations in the future. ape escape, locoroco, parapa the rapper and yes, jak & daxter, all come to mind and would be well suited to dreams.
Very, very cool story indeed.
Can't wait to see that !
I’m going to have to get into Dreams. There are just too many cool little projects like this. Very curious to see how it turns out.
Huh? I mean that's cool and all, but wouldn't it make sense to do it on a smaller franchise like Jak or Sly or Puppeteer, or do a more intense game like Spider-Man or God of War
Would Have Been Better If He Was Making a New Resistance Game In Dreams But More Ratchet And Clank Is Good To.
This is cool. I wonder how long he's been working on it?
When the PS5 version of Dreams hits, maybe Bend Studios can do Syphon Filter.
No. it doesn't make sense to make Sly, Jak, or any other game. This is a free opportunity to advertise for their new game. It gets people excited to play Ratchet and Clank.
@Porco I would love to see a a new Dark Cloud playing the old PS2 game did not do it for me on the PS4.
@HotGoomba Puppeteer was a cool game it wasnt easy though. You have a fine taste sir.
Insomniac was a huge purchase for the Sony camp. They generally make sound games, bags of history and lots of technical ability. MS grabbed alot of studios but Sony taking on board these guys beats the lot... This was a good move from Sony.
Bought dreams when it's still $30 in beta but I rarely played it after the full launch.
“Using fan made assets”
Surely the push square legal experts spat their coffee out at that.... stolen assets created by fans that harm the “IP”.
It’s stealing. They’ll lose their IP.
Or in fact not.
Nice to see fans work being engaged with. Hats off.
The gaming industry gets a lot wrong. This is a nice story
