Earlier this month, Sony revealed that Minecraft would be getting PlayStation VR support. The blocky survival sandbox will be fully playable in virtual reality using a DualShock 4 controller, letting you get a feel for how big the structures you make really are. The game has been playable in VR on PC for a while now, but PSVR is finally catching up. What's more, the update will be made available today, according to a tweet from PlayStation.
Minecraft PS4 players won't need to do anything — the PSVR update comes via a patch, and so is free of charge. You'll be able to dive into your pixelated paradise and appreciate it from a whole new perspective. Will you be digging out Minecraft for some PSVR excursions? Dust off your headsets in the comments section below.

I will be , seeing my builds in vr will be game changing and no doubt much like no mans sky add a whole new element of scale to it all
PSVR is truly the only next generation thing about this entire past generation. Love it. Really hope the PS5 is utilised for VR from the off.
I wished I upgraded the PS3 version to the PS4 version for the small fee all those years back!
I dont know if the VR is quite enough to pick up Minecraft on PS4.........for full price at least
Never played Minecraft before, but the idea of building stuff in VR with the sense of scale certainly makes it enticing to buy.
Hoping in the future, PS5 games like Planet Coaster also get VR updates. Would be super cool to wander around a virtual theme park made by yourself.
I guess I own two versions of Minecraft now (Game Pass and PS4)
This makes me want to dust off my PlayStation VR, but the hassle of setting it up puts me off. I really hope the next generation of PlayStation VR is wireless!
Do I need a Xbox ID to play?
Was feeling pretty down today but this definitely helps!! I find minecraft to be extremely relaxing and cathartic and thinking about getting lost in those blocky adorable worlds is so appealing!
Not sure if it's just me but since downloading my ps4 pro is constantly crashing or getting error reports as I load the game. Tried 6 times but no luck. Was really excited for this!
I cant get it to work...im sitting in a 3d vr minecraft room but playin the game through some virtual tv infront of me...can any1 help please
@Robbirtles similar troubles here. Ps4 pro and psvr both getting a black screen while attempting to load the game.
@Wormold click the sticks in together. You can play it on a screen within the game.
I see two people reporting crashes with PSVR and Pro...
I wonder if that's due to Boost Mode?
Minecraft doesn't have a Pro patch, so Boost Mode may be in the mix.
@Ultrasonic yeah it took me forever to figure out it wants you to click L3 to change perspective, rather than the up arrow. Maybe I'm dumb but I feel like that could be explained better.
@Burntbreadman Same. Own it on PS3, never saw the need to pay anything to upgrade to the PS4 version as the game didn't seem all that different. Plus we have 2 PS3 we could play together in different rooms in the house.
Won't pay to upgrade now either - my sons play it on PC all the time - but I am going to check to see if my library has the PS4 version. I know I borrowed the Wii U version from there long ago, wanted to check out the Mario part.
@GamerDad66 nice idea, I've just tried it with boost mode turned off but still no luck. Weirdly the screen that displays when the camera can't find you is shown, although I'm in the same position as always for other psvr games and it finds me no problem with those, if I duck way further down than needed with any other game, it finds the headset and then switches to an infinite black screen. Strange one. Hopefully they pick up on it and patch it soon.
VR is such a natural fit for Minecraft. Hadn't played in over a year but spent quite a long time today just mining away in my tunnels. Definitely some cybersickness for me but not having the need to stand for this game helps a lot.
Also thought I'd mention I have a Pro but I've yet to experience any technical issues. Not sure why.
@Burntbreadman you can play the demo in vr on psvr you can walk around.
It is the first game that almost made me throw up in vr.
Looks amazing but motion sickness is a downside.
@The_ghostmen There is a bug in the head tracking! When you look left or right, the world tilts to the left or the right instead of remaining straight. This is why people are getting sick in PSVR Minecraft.
A bug ticket has been placed with Mojang Support. Hopefully they address it. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-100988
@GamerDad66 Boost mode does not affect PSVR games - it's Supersampling which sometimes causes issues. Make sure that supersampling is off in the PS4 display menu. This has led to Minecraft not starting.
@Party_Cannon just tried this with supersampling off but still no luck. Super frustrating this!
@Robbirtles Dang it! I'd also saw a post where someone had claimed they had issues on their external drive, but on the internal - it worked. This seems kind of odd to me, but I'm mentioning it here just on the off chance that you want to try it to see if it'll help. I think the game needs some patch to fix a few strange issues.
