Days Gone will take advantage of Sony’s next-gen hardware at launch, running at “up to 60 frames-per-second in dynamic 4K” on the PlayStation 5. The title was previously locked at 30 frames-per-second on the PS4 Pro, and utilised a checkerboard rendering solution to resolve a 4K image.
What does this mean in layman’s terms? The Oregon-based apocalyptic open worlder will both look and play better on the PS5. It’s not the first game to be specifically updated for the Japanese giant’s fresh format: Ghost of Tsushima will also run at 60 frames-per-second.
There’s never been a better time to enjoy Deacon St. John’s debut, especially seeing as it’s included with the PS Plus Collection at launch. We liked the title a lot in our review, describing it as “gaming comfort food”. Will you be saddling up all over again?

Was going to play it when it came to PS Now, until I realised I wouldn’t have time to finish before it left given PS5. Glad I waited now. Will probably get PS Plus for the Collection once I’ve finished with Sackboy and Astro Bot.
One of the most underrated games of this generation, a truly thrilling experience from start to finish, make sure you play this if you haven't people!!!
Cool, this game is also part of the PS Plus Collection, maybe I'll check it out
It's going to be an absolute treat jumping back in to a lot of the games from PS4 to PS5 just simply to replay or mop up trophies. Can't wait so jealous of you right now @get2sammyb
Not one I'll personally replay, it was pretty good but nothing special. Good to see more and more PS4 games taking advantage of the new hardware though and fighting the hordes will definitely benefit from the framerate increase
Unique premise but samey gameplay, I really think the devs will learn their lesson and improve tenfold with the sequel🧟♂️
Can Deacon stop randomly shouting like a psychopath over literally every bit of lore or when he’s ‘sneaking’ first?
I just got the platinum on this game 100% on everything really enjoyed it. Might run through again on PS5
I loved riding that fully upgraded motorcycle, but man it got insanely bad gas mileage!
Sweet, been meaning to pick this up for a while and decided to wait when I heard it was coming to the plus collection. These are the kind of improvements I was hoping for first party games.
It seems like Sony are doing free upgrades for a lot of their games. I reckon their doing the whole remaster with Spider-Man because it's a big cash cow plus it adds more value to Miles Morales.
Now please do the same for bloodborne too
All of these other PS4 games getting this treatment in regards to backwards compatibility except Spider-Man just makes the """remaster""" look even more like a cash cow when it didn't have to be tbh
Really hope Bloodborne is next
@NOLIMITGHST Good going, but I can't help feel that the bike sliding trophy is bugged ... tried repeatedly to do it and watched several YouTube videos, but it just wouldn't happen for me.
@AdamNovice Is Mile Morales a spin off of Kilometer Morales?
Really enjoyed this game. Looking forward to a potential ps5 sequel
This game sucked, and I won't hear otherwise. I wouldn't reinstall this garbage if it came with a free PS5.
Don't be believe me? Go ahead. Give me a free PS5 and find out!
Great will defo play this on piss5
YAY!! I honestly didn't really play it but now with 60 FPS I am more inclined to play it to be honest. Seems like its a seriously underrated title.
Super game on the PS4 Pro, too many cutscenes near the end, but a great game 👍🏻
May have a pop on the 5 when it lands
@Constable_What not liking the game doesn't make him a hater and you shouldn't tell him to shut up @4kgk2 it's immature.
I love Days Gone and don't agree with him but I'll respect his take and I'd rather hear his gripes with the game rather than say something childish like "shut up hater"
@GZoo that was one of the harder trophies to get. After I got my bike fully upgraded I just went crazy on the bike and it finally popped.
@nessisonett Quite possibly yes lol
One of my biggest surprises of the generation. Loved the heck out of this enough to platinum it. Glad to see it keeps improving.
Great! Still haven't finished the story, 2/3rds there so good to know saves carry over
But we'll have to start a new game??
@Welsh_Will you’re in for a treat
Truly a unique game in that I despised every single character, now in 60 fps, what's not to like?
@ShaiHulud hahahah
Such an amazing game . I've cleared this game 3 or 4 times , constantly played it over 2months. More please lol
@4kgk2 You gonna make me big boy?
@4kgk2 Really eviscerated him there
@TheFrenchiestFry I’m trying to lol 😂. I think shouldn’t of told him to shut up but I’m so sick and tried of some people trashing this game just because of the bias reviews.days gone was one of the most fun PlayStation exclusives this gen.
@4kgk2 maybe try harder then
Niiiiiiice. I skipped this before. Now I'm very intrigued.
Got about halfway through but stopped to play TLOUS2, so very pleased to hear that my save game will travel.
This is great news for me as I only played the beginning and roamed around for a bit on the PS4 Pro before I swapped it for a One X. I’ll definitely be playing this again when I get a PS5.
I really enjoyed this game (though I agree about the annoying shouting, LOL). I've been holding off on NG+ hoping saves would transfer to PS5, so that's good news to me.
I wonder how different it will feel at 60fps...
@DonJorginho totally agree
Yet to play this, glad I waited as it's one of the few of the ps + collection I haven't picked up.
I knew there was a reason I never got around to playing any first-party PS4 games in the past 4 years, lol.
@DonJorginho Hi there friend. Absolutely agree. Bend studios made a really good job in their first and only AAA PS4 title. Loved the characters(Deacon included), the story the setting and fighting those freakin hordes. Such a blast. It is quite big, maybe a little to big. But it is still very much a enjoyable ride. Can´t wait for a sequel, Especialy after "that" ending.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
This game was a weird one. I tried to get into it like 3 times and got about 4 hours in and was absolutely bored. Then one day I picked it up and had a blast even got the platinum. I wouldnt play it again but if you haven't played an open world game or a zombie game in ages I would recommend giving it another go especially with the upgrade.
@GZoo Downgrade your tires. There is a guide that helps a lot and it honestly means downgrading certain things, but seriously this trophy took me hours.
I still never played this but since it's part of the PS Plus Collection on PS5, I'll definitely be playing it.
I'd love to know where you guys are finding the time to play through these long games again!
I fully completed and platinum this game when it first came out within that month I think the reviews were unfair and the game was bloody brilliant, however I did have loads of environmental disappearing glitches like I would be driving the bike fast then there would suddenly be a car or Boulder appear if front of me and I crash or I would be driving along a completely flat environment which would remain that way all the way through my play through in the same specific place.
Looking forward to checking this out in the PS + Collection!
@Ichiban It usually takes me a couple of months to play an open world game if not more. Days gone isn't too bad if you follow the main storyline. Witcher 3 probably took me around 3 -4 months to do the main quest and some side content. For me the sweet spot is a 30-40 hour game which means I get around 2 months worth of content.
@nessisonett GET LOW
Nice, now I I think bloodborne and every games on psplus collection will be updated to 60 fps too 😃
I wish “up to 60fps” wasn’t becoming a saying
Days Gone was a blast. It knew exactly what it was and didn’t try to be anything other than its awesome self. Even with my platinum, this is one I’ve always wanted to replay so this is great news.
Started it forever ago, think I’ll wait to finish it.
Indeed I will play it on PS5. 2 more weeks for me until the PS5 is out. Enjoy.
I don’t know!!! I still have many questions regarding these next-gen consoles. Take the 8K, the 120fps and ray-tracing out of the equation. It seems the new hardware still unable to deliver true native 4K/60fps somehow...or is it just for the backwards compatible games??? Days Gone & God of War both will run @60hz on dynamic resolution....🧐🧐🧐I’m confused! Because it looks like the ps5 can’t do this 4K/60 combo without compromise!!!! Interesting 🤔🤔🤔
@xandercorvin
Yes being just BC with a patch cant do miracles. However if dev tried to lock 4k resolution instead of fps that would be a bad approach, dont yo think?
Dynamic resolution is the way to go, or even better, whatever new tech they can use to upscale without losing quality. People are too focused on resolution. More details on screen >>> resolution.
@JJ2 hey! On the contrary, I prefer higher frame rate.....I would be satisfied with just 2K/60 resolution and ray-tracing 🙂
Loved this game, didn't get close to a platinum so will definitely play it again on PS5.
More exciting though would be word on the potential sequel, really hoping something is announced soon as the story has so much potential.
I didn’t manage to get very far in this game, one reason was down to the constant stutter present in this game. It’s the first WWS game I stopped playing due to performance issues. I also felt it suffered from the same problem Horizon did with its open world, where there were enemies every 2 seconds in the world leaving no ‘breathing room’ and no time to take in the world they created.
That obviously won’t be fixed here! But the performance upgrade will be substantial, so I’ll definitely be giving it another go!
@Col_McCafferty
Very easy platinum. The proof: I did it.
I haven't played this or God of War or RE7. I have my PS5 coming on the 19th and i will make the most of the PS+ collection. Will be something to look forward.
This is really great news. I was planning an NG+ round.
@JapaneseSonic If Days Gone never touches that system I may consider it...
In a hypothetical world of my own creation where I have won the lottery exactly 5 times.
@DonJorginho I've been holding off. I think now is a good time to finally give it a shot!
Played 20 hours of the game and was really disappointed with story and meh gameplay. I continued cause I read many comments that the game starts to get good after a while, but for me it was a waste of time and money.
