Hmmm... I've completed all these games multiple times on PC, but on console.... well, let's dust off my fragFX controller... π
You cannot be serious (sorry)
About time though, I loved these back in the day.
Is there gonna be physical release or digital only?
@Sorteddan I believe it's digital only.
Iβve always wanted to play these! It looked like fun fast paced action...and since Time Splitters isnβt around, I think Iβm gonna pick this up!
Always loved these games. Serious Sam 4 was a little rough around the edges but still a really fun experience.
It's not live in NA yet it seems, but if the collection is like $30 or less, it's an easy recommendation from me if you like "turn off your brain" games.
I'm wondering if it has any improvements over the PC version?
@djlard wait....I didn't know that was a thing! Looks like the best possible way to control an FPS, does it work fine?
@clvr You have to experiment with options a little, but it works very well. It depends on game. For example in Metro it is swipe-fest, but in DOOM 2006 it is thing of need. I have 2, but my older (PS3 wired) got broken stick, but it made me rule AVP game. Now I have wireless PS3/PS4 type. It may seem to have choppy move, but if you manage to use "F" shift for precise aiming (third left shift) , you can easily beat any fps game if you are used to PC keyboard+mouse like me. Yes, people will complain it is cheating, but it is officially licenced controller and you can reply: "OK, so beat Guitar Hero on Dualshock if you are so joypad pure."
@djlard thanks a lot for the info π
I'm asking you because I love single player FPS games but I've been raised on consoles, so I've never been able to adjust to KB+M, as much as I tried.
So yeah, even when I play on PC I'm the odd one out with a controller, though I also use the gyro as a mouse surrogate for finer aiming (yes, even when I play TitanFall 2 online lol).
So would you say it's comfortable for someone used to a regular controller? I've looked up some pics online and it seems to have pretty much all the buttons you'd need.
Might have to check this out
I wonder when ss4 is coming to consoles
Are you going to (mini)review it?
@clvr I'm opposite, I raised on PC (ok, actually on ZX Spectrum) and still sometimes fight with controller... soooo... Even if all buttons can be remaped, I use default settings on fragFX. Left piece of fragFX is actually left half of controller so there is no problem. Only that third shift for precise aim is added, but you use to it quickly. Right piece of fragFX is mouse and with its' button placement it feels like holding right side of controller, but horizontally. Only because of left mouse button (lmb) is R1 shift and right mouse button (rmb) is R2 shift I have used to "fire" with rmb which is quite confusing with default PC firing lmb. I didn't play for long time with it so I don't t remember exact controls, but I think pressing wheel is R3 and under wheel there is another button for SELECT (holding it and moving mouse simulates touch pad) but as I said I don't remember... Putting out controls, each piece use 1 AA battery. In compare with dualshock4, left piece is really light (because of absence of rumbling motor) but mouse is quite heavy. Another story is moving mouse itself. Some games have slow movement even if you max out fragFX's sensitivity and game option's sensitivity, so it is about constant swiping which is quite annoying (PS3 Jericho, PS4 Metro) but majority is pretty well playable (PS3 AvP, Turok, Painkiller, Far Cry, Dead Island, Darkness, Bioshock, Dishonored PS4 Wolfenstein, Doom). Biggest problem, for me, is position of hand. After renovation of my living room I thrown away my chair and bought sofa. Now if I have mouse next to me my wrist is so bend it hurts in a while. If I put some box under it, it is moving and uncomfortable. So remember that with fragFX you have to also think about your gaming place. My temporary solution is box of my Nvidia GTX 970 graphic card π
@djlard wow, many thanks for the in-depth explanation!
I'll look around to see if I find it for a reasonable price around Black Friday! Thanks again!
@clvr Don't know how is it now, but Splitfish don't sell it anywere else than in their eshop (Austria) and the price is high because of SONY licence. Mine is FragFX Shark PS3/PS4 wireless and 2 years back it cost 110β¬.
Ah, I see! Yeah it sounds like a niche enough product so I get that π
Anyway, it's not like I have to get one but I'll look around, out of curiosity π
Thanks for all the info man, have a good one!
