@PeaceSalad I will leave February's game up to the group since I have not heard of any in the list or haven't paid much attention to. I don't mind being surprised by whichever is chosen.

@SillyBoyJudas No worries, friend. You can always suggest other games too, those were just the ones already voted for. Something for future reference 👍

Good day gang! I hope you are all doing swell. Thanks to Sol’s suggestion the pivot to shorter games went down really well and The Gardens Between was a great club game. The clocks are hungry and the community has spoken and your game for the teeny tiny month of February is Gris

A lovingly crafted indie gem which I’m sure will enthral and delight. I hope you all enjoy and thanks for being here 👍

A few details courtesy of How Long to Beat are below:

Main Story - 3½ Hours
Main + Sides - 4 Hours
Completionist - 6½ Hours

Totally forgot to put a vote in for this month!
I tried Gris in the past after some folks stated it was incredible. It just did not click for me.

Excited to give this a shot. Looks like another good Portal game while lounging in bed or laying on the couch. Probably can start and finish it during the Super Bowl. 😅

@ZeD Was there anything in particular that didn’t click for you?

@Th3solution @SillyBoyJudas Did you both manage to make a start?

@PeaceSalad It may have been the wrong time for me to play it but I found it quite boring and had no clue what I should be doing. Did not feel like the game had a purpose other than moving across the screen.

@ZeD I can understand that. It’s supposed to be an exploration of grief but it is executed in a very artistic way and not overly reliant on traditional gameplay or narrative tropes so your mileage may vary on that one and thus may seem like you’re just moving left to right. I’m a sucker for anything like this, though if you prefer your games with more gameplay it may not land for you.

@PeaceSalad it is about Grief? I must have missed that. I thought it was just about being colour back to the world.
I remember bringing back a few colours and having something following me.
EDIT: I think green was the last colour I got

Just had a look at the trophy list and it kind of gives away what the game is about 😂
I must have really not been paying attention (I think I tried it on my Switch)

@PeaceSalad So, I had grand plans to play this game on my Portal this weekend, either while decompressing and lounging in bed or on the couch, or perhaps during the Super Bowl, as it seemed a perfect ‘chill’ game for the portable device which doesn’t require a lot of intense concentration. The PSN outage had different plans for me, as I got kicked off of the game after just a few minutes.

I posted this over on the other thread but I was kicked right after earning the first gold trophy in the prologue and I was really worried that my trophy wouldn’t ‘register’ with the PSN since I was cloud streaming the game. I wondered if a corruption during the streaming/syncing process would forever lock me out of ever earning the trophy again. And so after I was kicked off and then immediately wasn’t able to log back on, I gave up taking any chances with the game, given the uncertainty of the PSN at the time.

I was permanently locked out of a couple trophies I earned during the famous 2011 outage (it made it so I’ll never be able to earn the Assassin’s Creed 2 platinum) and I didn’t want to get burned like that again. Luckily, that one trophy I popped in Gris did sync and I show it as earned, somehow through the magic of 2025 network technology even though the PSN killed my stream about 10 seconds after the trophy pinged. 😅

Anyway, in my 5 minutes with the game it looked lovely! 😂

My ‘personal life’ week so far has been brutal and I don’t know when I’ll get time to game again, but it may not be until next Saturday, the way things are going so far.

I’m really intrigued with the concepts of the game though. Some of the challenges I’ve had in recent weeks include helping a few friends through the grieving process after death of loved ones and a few other personal tragedies. Not to trauma dump on the Game Club party, but recently I was quite literally talking a friend through the normal reactions to loss and was trying to remember the stages of grief and when I saw what this game was about it really interested me. Seemed to give me vibes like RiME, which was another moving indie game which has stuck with me.

@Th3solution Sounds genuinely discouraging mate, trophy hunting really is an albatross sometimes. Hope you’re doing ok anyway and this place and particularly this thread is a safe place for you buddy, dump away. I went into RiME blind and was pretty blown away, not to mention i seem to become much more prone to outburst of tears as I’ve gotten older, I was in bits for both games. Take care and I hope your friends are doing ok 👍

@PeaceSalad Thank you, buddy. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, although I still have a lot of irons in the fire. I shook through a few things and off-loaded a couple more. Tomorrow if all goes well I’ll have taken care of some of havoc going on. I did have a spare moment yesterday and I thought I’d have a go at Gris for a few minutes and made a tiny amount of progress. I’m in the second phase/chapter/area. As suspected, it’s a great game for the Portal. I’m still too early to give any expansive thoughts though.

I do appreciate the concern and kindness. Tragedy seems to come in batches. Things are probably returning now to the normal level of chaos in my life. 😂 I accustomed to that.

Spent about an hour or so with Gris today and it’s been a very lovely and mostly chill experience. I’m in the Forest section, just got the double jump ability and working my way through the puzzles.

I don’t particularly gravitate towards 2D platformers, so this is a bit out of my wheelhouse. I’m not sure if it’s the game, or if I’m just bad at it, but the platforming feels a bit imprecise to me. Getting the jump timing down has been frustrating at times. Nothing impossible, but some sequences have taken me several attempts to get through.

Also, the randomness of what one can jump on has been frustrating sometimes, with the layered lines whereby sometimes you can jump on something you walk past and sometimes you can’t.

Right, heathen scum, purge your souls by picking a brand new sparkly game for March 👍

Tin Hearts (Cap)
Pedestrian (Sol, MrB)

Finished Gris yesterday.
Beautiful game but not without frustrating bits especially one particular level where the camera zoomed out so far that I lost track of my character.
I thought the use of the dual sense features was pretty well done especially the use of the speaker, I’ve always thought the speaker was a great addition if used sparingly.
Fairly easy platinum although I haven’t got all of the collectibles yet so I’m jumping the gun a little there but thankfully you can easily see which collectibles are missing and use chapter select once you have finished the game.

All in all, a delightfully arty game which was the worth the play and didn’t outstay it’s welcome.

@PeaceSalad
My suggestion for March is Under the waves, a PS Extra game. Reviews for it are mixed so happy to go with another persons suggestion.
The other game on my list is Tin Hearts, also on PS Extra although I had already purchased this game (shock). Ive yet to play but it is a sort of lemmings type game and can be played flat or in VR (the reason why I bought it).

@PeaceSalad I was hoping to get finished with Gris before month’s end, but it will probably not be until the weekend.

As for a vote, I’ll throw some support behind Under the Waves and then for a second choice will cast a vote for Pedestrian.
