It was one of the streaming services missing from our All PS5 Apps list at launch, but now HBO Max has been added to the PlayStation 5’s roster of on-demand video services. Many had expected this to be available day one, but we suppose a month wait isn’t too much of an inconvenience. The addition was inevitable when you consider that The Last of Us’ television adaptation is being created in collaboration with HBO.
Currently, HBO Max is only available in the United States, but it’s set to make a big play for subscribers this holiday, as new Warner Bros movies like Wonder Woman 1984, Dune, and The Suicide Squad will all be available day one as part of the subscription. A monthly membership currently costs $14.99.

Might not be a popular service, but they need to bring back iplayer and All4, for the PS5, please.
Am I the only person who doesn't use streaming services on my consoles?
@HotGoomba___Rebrand i don't, i use a Apple TV for the streaming and leave my bedroom tv for the PS5.
There going to struggle to make serious subscriber numbers with it only bring available in America, especially if they want to challenge Disney and Netflix. And adding WB movies day one without giving cinemas an exclusivity window has angered a lot of people.
I have good Internet connection, but I never got the quality from the HBO app on PS4 that I saw with Netflix/Prime. Here's hoping the PS5 version will be better.
It sounds like a great service but isn’t available over here. Who knows where all the exclusive stuff will end up.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand Many people who don't have smart tvs (me) depend on their consoles for watching things like netflix on the tv.
So if you had an american account and a vpn...? Not that im saying folks should, of course.
Good this was the one that mattered the most due to not being available on Roku
Finally! I was going to be a bit miffed if I couldn’t enjoy WW84 on my big screen since my LG doesn’t support hbo max natively
Ugh, stupid exclusivity deals preventing sub in canada.....
@munkholt Hoping for the same. Netflix,Hulu,Prime all look great but HBO always looks like its "blurry" compared to the rest.
The media player and the 4K player on the PS5 are really bad.
@ShikabaneHime13 There's a World War 84?
As someone who adores the cinema experience, I’m very curious to see how this all plays out. Best case scenario, we see a resurgence of smaller privately owned niche theatres that co-exist with streaming options. Worst case scenario, theatres go the way of the dodo and I die a little inside.
Too bad it's not here in Australia, there loss.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand
Wonder Woman 1984 (i’m sure that was a joke but just in case lol)
@HotGoomba___Rebrand me neither. They’re all built into my TV. Or I’ll stream to my iPad while gaming. Or use Remote Play on my iPad if I wanna watch the movie on an 82” screen. The possibilities are endless lol.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand Nvidia Shields here..
It's on my PS5, but says it will only play on a PS4.
Just goes to show you how woke sony really wants to be, ***** off.
@DualWielding HBO Max is finally on Roku now. Which pleases my mom with her 65 inch 4K UHD TCL Roku HDTV.
