Sony is going big this holiday season, welcoming in the new year with a bumper January sale on the PlayStation Store that could lay claim to the biggest selection of discounts the storefront has ever seen. We've got over 1,000 PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 titles to choose from, and all of these discounts will stick around until midnight on 19th January 2021. There's no chance we can list every single good deal within this article, and the best thing is that there will be a sale refresh in just over two weeks time on 8th January 2021. Your backlog could grow considerably as a result! So, let's take a look at just some of the very best deals this holiday sale has to offer.
As far as PS5 games are concerned, we've got the mighty Assassin's Creed Valhalla for £41.99/$44.99, Godfall comes in at £52.49/$52.49, Observer: System Redux is discounted to £19.99/$23.99, and Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is £34.99. There's also Overcooked: All You Can Eat for £29.99/$37.49.
The biggest deals are sourced from PS4 games, where Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice can be picked up for £38.99/$38.99, The Last of Us: Part II is £31.34/$29.99, Final Fantasy VII Remake comes in at £29.99/$29.99, and Persona 5 Royal can be picked up for £24.99/$29.99. Then there's Ghost of Tsushima at £39.04/$40.19, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time for £29.99/$29.99, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is £29.99/$29.99.
That's just the tip of the iceberg though, with hundreds of other PS4 titles and indie experiences discounted to very reasonable prices. We'd be here all day listing them all! Therefore, to check out everything the PlayStation Store Holiday sale includes, EU users should head through here while US players can use this link. If neither option works for you, there's always PS Prices. What PS5, PS4 games will you be purchasing? Share your digital haul in the comments below.

Yeah, the store links still don't work for me...
@Voltan I recommend using PS Prices in the meantime.
Mammoth sale great for kids first PS4 at Xmas and the many vouchers from family who have no idea what to buy lol. Some great deals in there.
A great deal is Sekiro ....at £38.99 !!??? Really ? It's been that price all year !
It might be time to finally double dip and get Royal version of P5... Am I ready to invest another 200hrs for a second P5 Plat? Possibly... Probably...
@LiamCroft That website store front is so cack.
It looks awful and it doesn't show anything apart from pulsing grey tiles. Bring back the old one - at least it worked!!!
Ah well, time to boot up the PS4 and see what's on offer...
@Mintie its also 24.99 on Amazon for the physical edition
Going for Far Cry 5. I got a feeling I prefer Far Cry to AC games.
Godfall still costs £52.49 too much for me to be interested. Also that store is such a turd. I don't have the willpower to go through the whole sales to find something. Wake me up when they restored basic functionalities like any website from after 2005.
Yep store is not working on Google Chrome.
Its very meh! A lot of the games have been far cheaper, and about 85% of them are much cheaper on disc. eg. You can pick up Valhalla Base Ps5 version for 35 quid from Currys with a code, or you can pick up the Gold edition from the Ubistore for £53 also with their discount code. Same for Watchdogs Legion which is even cheaper.
Still, I might snap up Cloud Punk for a Cyberpunk game that actually works, and the Sony social media channels are taking a lot of heat in the replies, about there still not being a dedicated store section on the PS5.
Well every game you mentioned is ridiculously expensive even on sale given what they go for physically. Digital tax rears its head again.
I tried to check smaller and VR games to see if it’s any better, but keep getting an error message on the ps app at the moment. Just keeps saying “hmm...something’s Missing”, and they aren’t talking about worthwhile savings.
Oh no!
@zarak002 Not working on Firefox either.
Working on the PS4 though!
Store is not working in PS app. What the hell they did to their own app? And suddenly if it works, than you cannot buy anything. Worse than Cyberpunk state...
None of these deals are anything special and from what I can tell don’t differentiate from the sale that has been running the last couple of weeks
@sanderson72 Ah well at least it isn't just me then.
The new ps store website and app are terrible. Never any consistency with how it works, how to find things, if it ever loads.
The store is horrible esspecially the app nothing works.
Damm was hoping for demon souls sale, might just pick it up for Xmas anyway, but still got AC Valhalla to finish, about 70hrs in so don't think I have much to go.
@Daleaf I'm over 80 and still didn't even visit like 1/3 of the England map lol
The ps5 store is working I just all mentioned games on sale dirt 5 is on sale as well
This is one of the reasons why I’m not too concerned about the price bump to $70 for the new generation — the sales start quick, even just a few weeks after some games are released. The truly excellent titles don’t go on sale for a while, but even TLoU2 is now commonly starting to show up for half price, and it’s been out less than a year.
I bought Assassin's Creed at launch for £42 as a physical copy. That's not a great price!
@Daleaf
You probably still have a while to go depending on if you are going for completionist.
Story (with 50% completionist) took me 120 hours, full completionist 140 hours, and platinum I got yesterday at 143 hours.
Trying to look at this sale on PS5 is proving to be problematic. A lot of things aren't loading etc.
@Th3solution you say that but it results in poor sales. a 50% off sale is now £35 where as before it was £25. Its a big difference.
@KPraj @Voltan ah man really, I have done most of the map, story is ramping up a bit now, but have been doing a few of the side quests now. Wasn't to sure of it for the first 30hrs seemed really slow, but afterwards it started to click really enjoying it now though. Well I got two weeks off work now so hopefully will finish it before new year then haha. Don't think I will do the plat for it think it's too much hard work lol.
That's all we need, more games to our backlog lol
@Daleaf I'm enjoying all the side content, doing as much of each area as I go through the story - so my progress is kinda slow
I will be trying to get the platinum so yeah, I'm expecting it to take well over 100 hours
@Rhaoulos it's the first sale of godfall, what did you expect? 50% off?
@OthmaneAD I've already seen people "predicting" that it will be on Plus next month, so 50% off is not the wildest expectation out there lol
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and Racer Revenge are for some reason the most appealing games on this list. 🤨
In other news, I bought myself a pair of official PlayStation socks at a local Tesco (in Warsaw, Poland) last night.
Crash Racing for £12 is great for family kart racer. Think I’ll pick that one up at least
Cant see any of this sale. Store doesn't work, even PS Prices is going down for me!
This sale is cool but it's like... why would I pay this $30 tax to own a game when it comes out?
@Hanbaga why would anyone even pay most of these 'sales' prices in the first place?! I jus bought Star Wars BF2 and celebration upgrade for a combined £14. Now thats a sale price! Would never pay full price for any game. In fact, I'd never pay more than £15-20 for a game. Happto wait for a good sale.
The PlayStation store on the PS5 is absolute cack and it’s not loading correctly on the website. I don’t understand how they made this so difficult.
@KingPev Its getting ridiculous. Sekiro never gonna be $20 lol
Crysis Remastered at £14.99 is the only possible standout for me
Crash Bandicoot for me
@tomassi good point!
Well, they sure messed up the app today. Got a £20 PSN voucher from a relative for Christmas. I never usually buy digital but sometimes it’s the only way to get VR or more niche titles so was going to check out the “sale”. Unfortunately I can’t give them my money as the store’s completely broken. Well done, lol.
Thinking about it, I should probably just put it towards Plus or Now when they are on sale again anyway.
At a time when, here in the SE in the U.K. most physical game stores are shut, this is a big own goal from Sony.
@Robinsad True. And to clarify, I don’t particularly want to pay more for my games - I’d like to spend as little as possible too. But it just looks like the market is going to be prone to adjust for itself. The 50% off sales will end up being more expensive than they would have been, but it should start to be in line with what people are willing to pay. It seems like titles that struggle to sell at release or that have a quick drop off are either getting permanent price cuts (ex. Avengers) or start to pop up on frequent sales (ex. Godfall, AC Valhalla). And seeing how the Cyberpunk refund thing unfolded has me more convinced that the vocal gaming community has the ear of the publishers and if the consensus is that a game is not worth the price tag, I think they will be quick to adjust game prices.
I suspect we’ll see only the biggest titles stay at $70 for more than a few months. But I could be wrong.
last of us 2 is currently 25 quid in tesco, as was ghost of tsushima when i picked it up last week.. how is £39 a "bargain"?. it was £41 from shopto prior to release. not that i'll be buying any digital game in the forseeable future, it's such a massive ball-ache to do so at the moment..
The store on Google and via the PlayStation app is not loading anything at all
I think I'll get A.I Somnium Files, Ys VIII and Zanki Zero.
Maybe Spyro trilogy too.
Time to buy Crash 4, it seems!
Is this the first PS Store update on PS5? It seems to struggle to load most of the games on the PS Store.
Plus I have the feeling Sackboy will be discounted with the January Refresh on January 9th, but I really don't have patience for it any longer.
@AFCC Don't you mean "It's about time" 😏
My wife has gotten me a PS Store gift card for Christmas as one of my gifts for a long time now.
The prices in this sale don’t look spectacular, but I am sure I will find something to tempt me........
@Mintie I still haven't platted p5 but bought royal in last sale and have to admit I'm having a ball. Plat for royal is easy peesy. Probably too easy. Just need to play the game. Lol.
Here is my conundrum. Never played a Dark Souls game. Never wanted to. However, for some reason started watching a LP online and I have to admit it looks FUN. Do I just say f-it and buy all 3 in the sale for less than 30 quid??? Or do I finish the LP and just enjoy that.......
Godfall more expensive than Valhalla?
Sekiro is $30 at Best Buy
This new PS store is awful. It's hard as heck to navigate on the PS5. Where are all the sales like it shows on PS4?! and the app is completely useless.
@KingPev Yeah, it's less on Amazon and The Game Collection. Most of these sales still end up with prices being higher than a disc version.
If you're on Chrome and the store isn't displaying prices/purchase buttons, try signing out and then sign back in. Worked for me.
@HeeHo what a missed oportunity by myself! Shame!
@OthmaneAD Read my comment again. I'm saying I need a 100% discount to even be remotely interested
I guess I'll think about getting Soulcalibur VI
@Mega-Gazz Always has been🌍👨🚀🔫👨🚀
@Th3solution I was going to rebuy TLoU2 but then realized there could be an “updated version” for sale by the time got around to playing it again. FFVII it is then.
@Daleaf Demons Souls won’t be going on sale for a loooong time - over 100 hours in I can confidently say it’s the only true next gen game on PS5 right now.
@2cents My thoughts exactly. I feel like it will probably take a couple months for me to get to it and hopefully I have a PS5 by then and they announce a special edition PS5 version with the multiplayer included. That’s my guess
@Matroska yep I've seen better deals in a dodgy Casino !
@2cents yea didn't think so, was more hopefull to be honest. If I do manage to finish AC in the next few days might just pick it up for myself as a Xmas gift.
Had a £35 gift card to use, so I ended up getting Kentucky Route Zero, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Wandersong, Donut County, Gris, and What Remains of Edith Finch. Not bad, eh?
See why we say never pay full price for a game?
Picked up Final Fantasy 14 complete edition for half price. Gonna wait on getting 7 remake until there’s a PS5 upgrade available.
I saw Walmart is having deals right now too!
@Mintie Can you imagine what 200 hours in the gym would get you?
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L
Surprisingly not long. About 1 hour and it could've been faster if I used a guide from the start.
You only have to catch 1 of each fish type doesn't matter about the size. Theres a good video on YouTube showing the best locations to fish for them.
I noticed Darkwood has a great discount, but i don't know if the PS4 (and PS5 version if it exists) is as good as the PC version, or if the game is more of a PC title.
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L
It only took me 3 hours from getting the 100% acheivement to getting the platinum.
It's well worth the effort if you are already 100%ing each region
Time to go broke again
@RayNick Darkwood is a pretty cool game. Worth a go at it.
Picked up The Walking Dead Final Season
Well The Outer Worlds has been on my radar for quite some time now.
If you're into AAA/mtx it's an alright sale but what Indies are present are ones that I've looked at so far have had sales in recent months. 🤔 Eg: .Monsterboy is a must buy at the price,Toki good value but again,have both had sales in the past 4 months.
Meantime just as a few examples: Cursed Castilla & Super Hydorah 2.5 years since last psn sale, Shantae Half Genie hero/Ultimate Ed.,Pirates Curse,or Riskys Revenge 2.5/3yrs last sale.
River City Girls,Xeno Crisis,Castle Crashers Remastered, Battle Princess Madelyn all over a year to 1.5yrs old & never had a single sale! All of them have had multiple Eshop,PC,etc sales this year multiple times!
For the PSN's vast catalogue of games to be going years without a sale or even to get their first one is frustrating not to mention confusing. It suggests an issue with how they're curating them.
Wish they'd make things easier for smaller Indies & have a larger range/additional indie sale supporting this one in similar size. Mix up the sales content more Sony!
@Saitama117 considering that before the world ended I was at the gym 4-5 times a week for at least a couple of hours... Yes, yes I can.
I've kept reasonably fit with a combination of running, ring fit and small home gym stuff... The only thing that's really screwed me up a bit is not playing rugby on the weekend.
Contrary to common misconceptions you can sink hours into games AND lead a healthy active life.
@Voltan yeah, that won't happen.
@voltan just finished this yesterday. Hard as nails but satisfying to beat. Now to go for the plat haha
