There’s snow beginning to appear on the ground, but Sony is keeping employees warm with custom PlayStation 5 jackets. It’s unclear exactly who it’s sending these limited edition coats to, but we’ve seen several Tweets about them now, including this one from Naughty Dog’s Senior QA Jan 'Gabby' Llanillo. Looks like these are rewards for anyone in the United States who works within the PlayStation family.
So, what’s so hot about these? Well, aside from their insulating design, they also have a 25th Anniversary emblem on the sleeve, PlayStation zip pulls, and commemorative ‘PS5 Launch Team’ embroidery. Pretty cool one-of-a-kind items, right? And practical, too – what more could you want?

hmm id like to have one of these
@Papasears the playstation gear store has a very similar one
Considering how bad that launch was, they shouldn't want to commemorate just yet andbsort it out first.
@Rhaoulos console launches are always a pain in the ass, always have and always will be.
I think its great Sony does things like this for the employees. I love seeing them also. Thank You to everyone that earned one.
@Papasears lately that seems to be the case. Wii was tough to find. 360, ps3 etc. but I do have fond memories of walking into a Kmart on the day of the Super Nintendo launch and there being a pallet of consoles just sitting there.
@Hopewell and the Super Nintendo it done its job, very well. Without any updates. When gaming got serious for me
@Morzy Genesis does what nintendont.
Sorry i was a Sega kid
@Papasears they sold double what the series s/X sold combined so far so that's atleast something to commemorate. 3.8 million sold in the first 4 weeks which is more than what the ps4 did. Its just this time the demand for the ps5 was too high and the demand will outweigh the stock for a good 6 more months atleast.
Go me a couple of these from friends in the biz. Very cozy. Wearing one and going to keep one minty sealed
@Rhaoulos Yep I am sure they are crying about a record breaking launch during a pandemic lol. All consoles have issues at launch Xbox, Switch and PS5
Microsoft were considering doing the same but couldn't be bothered seeing as they had no launch games to launch a console with. They convinced everyone that wearing their old jackets with a bit of glitter sprinkled over them was the same as a brand new jacket.
This is cool and all but how about making more PS5s and GIVING ME EXTENDED STORAGE BECAUSE I'M ALREADY DELETING GAMES 😡
Sorry for caps.
I'd like one of these but I'd rather have the pulse 3d headset.
F*ck knows where you'd get one though !
@hypnotoad I got one if those. Fantastic!
@Saucymonk Where from please?
@hypnotoad base.com
@Saucymonk Thanks mate but just checked - out of stock.
And I refuse to pay over the odds on Amazon, Ebay and the like.
@Rhaoulos With the high demand and a global pandemic I really don't know how it could have been done better from Sony's side. Sure, they could have forced Target and Walmart to implement better bot protection but that is not within their scope of responsibility.
As far as games go, this launch selection was pretty stellar plus we got the PlayStation Plus collection.
Nitpicks
Their console software could be better and it is missing some features out of the box. Its ease of use could have also been better as well. I am tired of running tech support for my buddies that picked one up.
@Morzy I got a Super Nintendo when it launched and got unlucky with a faulty console or perhaps it was the cartridge? Difficult to tell. Even back then there were faults, think it gets magnified by today's access to social media.
I have the following and use it as a bluetooth headset:

@captainsandman Oh my. I stopped doing tech support for friends and family after a decade of headache (I'm bald, so it was time to put my foot down).
There is a lot that sucked around the PS5 launch. The software is crap compared to the series X/S, the website was and still is an insult to their clients, the marketing and communication was abysmal. They did way worse than Microsoft and Nintendo with their last consoles, pandemic or not
@JohnKarnes Just a shame Sony don't do this type of thing for their consumers 😂
@captainsandman Met with high demand means they should have made more.
@Rhaoulos I said the software is bare bones at this point and I agree their website and store need a lot of work. Marketing seems to have worked because of all the commotion over it. Did way worse than Microsoft and Nintendo last gen? Not sure what that even means because Sony probably had the best first party lineup and their console sales numbers were over 100 million. They were the first console to have streaming and a subscription service. Microsoft threw the curveball of Game Pass late in the gen and Sony countered with lowering the cost of PS Now and bolstering the lineup (I still think Now needs work and a rebrand. They will forever be behind the 8 ball due to the PS3 generation being so hard to emulate.).
All in all they had a good last gen and about as good as a launch at you can have in a pandemic. They need to fix their messaging, PS Now, website, store, and continue to update PS5 with new features.
Lets not forget, it's all about the games and Sony continues to deliver.
@Dronewolf You have to realize that Microsoft can't even keep up with the demand and they have sold less systems. Even the chip makers can't even make enough chips to keep up with the demand for high end graphics cards. They are making this stuff as fast as they can because they don't want to miss out on potential sales and most of their profit comes from the store/game purchases.
@captainsandman The switch and Xbox series X/S never had major software issues like the PS5. Previous gen console sales is irrelevant to the quality of the current gen. And launch sales are pretty much predetermined by owners of the previous gen.

They do just not for free.
@UltimateOtaku91 no doubt, alot of people giving Sony ***** about the low stock, but honestly the stock isn't low they sold a ***** load of them. When new consoles come out people are trying to buy them like hotcakes. Every release I can think of was always a pain in the ass to secure one but alot of people think this is something new and its not =/
