Quantic Dream has been somewhat quiet since the release of Detroit: Become Human on the PlayStation 4, but it’s had a lot going on behind-the-scenes. Much of its catalogue was ported to the PC with Sony’s consent, and it’s transformed itself into a publisher as well as a developer of cinematic, story games.
For example, the Parisian company is bringing Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut to Nintendo Switch, and it’s also publishing Dustborn. It will also self-publish its future internal projects on multiple platforms, which will include the PlayStation 5, but also Xbox Series X|S, PC, and potentially even Nintendo Switch. Lots of change, then.
David Cage, the firm’s co-founder, teased on Twitter that it’s shaping up to be a big year for the studio. “2021 should an exciting year for Quantic Dream and our community,” he hinted. “We are impatient to tell you more!” It feels about time we learned about the team’s next project, so here’s hoping for some news soon.

Detroit: Become Human was one of my favourite PS4 games. Wouldn’t have touched it if not for PS Plus and so happy I gave it a try.
Looking forward to what is next from the studio.
They really found their zen with Detroit, their previous games were always just short of perfection but they nailed it with this. I’d take a sequel to be honest!
@GhostInAJar yeah, I agree. Let’s hope it is a sequel or a new story in the same world.
I want that feeling back that I got from that game. From the futuristic world to the immersive music, the smooth actions of the robots and the soothing sound of their faultless voices tied in with the intensity of decision making and gameplay. It really was an enjoyable experience.
One of the best parts. My four year old was convinced the woman on the start screen was real and would talk to her.
Can we have a Connor and Hank spin off? They were ace together.
Impressive game, not everyone's taste. Decided to platinum it, so got to experience all the branches. If they can do that with PS4 hardware, can't wait to see what PS5 / Series X is capable of 😎
@ApostateMage The game let you push that relationship to the extremes over multiple chapters. Not many games go to that level in your choices.
Hi there fellow gamers.
That is some exciting news.
i did enjoyed Heavy Rain and really liked Beyond: Two Souls.
But it was Detroit: Become Human that really got me.
All the characters were awesome, some really good twists in the story and depending on your actions and decisions, a bittersweet ending that I really loved.
Very emotional and engaging from begining to finish.
Can´t wait to see what Quantic Dream has for 2021.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
@ApostateMage Hi there friend.
"Can we have a Connor and Hank spin off?"
My answer: Yes please.
It would be pretty cool to play a detective story in that world with those two characters.
Make it happen Quantic Dream.
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
How about a Covid-era version of Detroit where all the people are mask-wearing androids and handful of humans try to break free from the bleak social conditioning?
Detroit took the neat ideas of QD’s prior work and transformed them into a winning formula that made sense mechanically and narratively.
I really hope they're working on a sequel within this universe, there is great potential here.
Announcement of an announcement
I feel as though the quality will drop now they are multi-platform, hopefully I'm wrong.
@ApostateMage
Connor and Hank was one of the best relationships in a game I have experienced in some time, that being said to me the rest of the game was just....okay
strangely i think QD might struggle to hit previous success without the marketing lure of a sony exclusive.. i always thought that heavy rain and detroit become human punched way above their weight for sales in comparison to their niche gameplay style. heavy rain sold over 5m, similar games in that style, such as the latest supermassive trilogy, have failed to capture anything like that sales success.
been a big fan since heavy rain. cant wait for more!
Detroit was much better in that there are many seriously different story branches. A lot lot better than Beyond.
I personally don't think they could beat Detroit: Become Human. That game was pretty much a masterpiece for a number of reasons.
