Resident Evil Village will be scaring PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners silly from 7th May 2021, with Capcom's latest entry in the classic franchise getting its release date confirmed during the Resident Evil Showcase. After the developer stated it would be trying to get the game up and running on PS4 last year, it was indeed announced that the last-gen version will be a thing. Alongside the launch reveal was an extended gameplay walkthrough, which showed off a bit of combat, exploration, and inventory management. You can check that out above.
Elsewhere, it was announced that a Resident Evil Village demo will be available for PS5 owners, with another coming later this year for everyone else. Then there's the free multiplayer mode Resident Evil Re:Verse packaged alongside Village to celebrate the 25th anniversary. The Division 2 even joins the party with some exclusive outfits.

It comes out on my birthday!!!!
No mention of PSVR? Major bummer.
Said it back in November and still believe it, this gen is off to a lot faster start than the last one was.
Anyone managed to find that demo on the store yet? Nothing for RE at all in the UK.
@EricLane85 Sony paid a lot of money for Resi 7 VR so it was unlikely to happen again.
If this is a true next-gen designed game, I'm curious to see the differences between generations. Probably all graphical. Oh, and loading.
@PossibLeigh They said the demo would be available later today, not right now.
@LiamCroft Damn, my ignorant, over excited ears! Tomorrow for me then! Thanks for pointing that out, Liam!
@LiamCroft I thought I heard the cute guy say 'right now'. Guess I was wrong.
Looks incredible. Can't wait to try the demo, and roll on 7th May!
This looks fantastic! Can't wait to buy this Day One.
That demo will be the first thing I play tomorrow too.
If they have a PS4 version, here’s to hoping for PSVR again.
Looks very good but a bit too much like RE7 no?
Anyway, I still need to finish the last game x)
No VR.. sad times..
Smart move PS4 release, with the amount of people unable to get a PS5.
Though I suspect the game was always built for PS4.
Demo is available via phone store
@AFCC that's okay. RE7 was a great horror game. I'm fully okay with that.
N.i.c.e.im down with that.7 is amazing word up son
"After the developer stated it would be trying to get the game up and running on PS4 last year, it was indeed announced that the last-gen version will be a thing"
So it's a designed for PS4 title that will have some extra glitter on for the PS5.
Wow didn't expect it to be released that soon. Does make sense to release it on PS4 with the current situation.
I imagine it will follow up from 7. I guess I should play that game asap but I'm just too scared 🤣
@ObserverGamez sure! I was just expecting a bit more combat wise
@AFCC See I'm opposite. I'd love a horror game that's actually scary and makes you feel tense. That's hard to do in RE with rocket launchers with unlimited ammo lol.
@ObserverGamez wait, no, that's not what I meant ahah I am like you, the combat in RE7 was not good imo, it was too action oriented. I wish they would do a better melee system and get rid of guns
@AFCC at least allow us the option I agree!
@ObserverGamez yes, even better
Finally we have a solid release date now! I won't be buying day one though, waiting for the complete edition with all story DLC to drop down to ~$25 New or cheaper in a few years.
@Star-Lord @RBMango Happy Early Birthday to the both of you then!
