V1 Interactive, the developer of Disintegration – the squad-based tactical shooter which had its servers shutdown after just five months – has closed down. The studio – fronted by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto – launched its aforementioned debut project less than a year ago, but it failed to attract a big enough audience to survive.
“We are sad to inform you that V1 Interactive is officially closing,” a statement explained. “We want to thank all the talented people at V1, both past and present, who helped make the last five years wonderful. And a heartfelt thanks to the amazing community that supported us.”
In an additional post on his personal Twitter account, Lehto explained that “the wellbeing of our employees” has always been a priority, and that it’s been “transparent with them about the state of things for months”. He concluded: “We’re making this decision now so they still have ample time to search for new jobs while being supported by our studio.”
All the best to everyone affected, and we sincerely hope everyone lands back on their feet swiftly.

This is to sad...
It’s always a risk attempting to make a multiplayer game. For every Among Us, there are hundreds of failed projects which sink companies. Not everything can be the ‘next big thing’.
Always sad to see, but unfortunately this is typically what happens when you are chasing trends instead of coming up with new and compelling ideas. Especially in the multiplayer space where the enjoyment of a game solely lies in the number of copies sold. Reminds me of Bosskey studios when they shutdown.
If at first you don't succeed...
Sod it. Quit. Life's too short.
No different to any other business that makes something consumers don't buy.
@Jayslow and what "trend" were they chasing, exactly? 🤨
Imagine spending 5 years just for nothing in the end, ugh.. That's rough. But I mean come on... Did they expect generic space soldier game would be big?
This is sad, I think for their first game it's better to have polished games rather than innovative games, people expect fps halo-like titles from them, not this kind of mixed genre games.
Before they shut it down it should be given out for free on ps plus
Disintegration indeed.
There is a lot of competition from studios that have been in the FPS market for much longer with insanely big budget, so trying to get a share of the market is a gamble, especially if the game ends up being stale, and looking at your review, this sadly isn't too surprising.
