PlayStation is an official partner of this year's Summer Game Fest, the event has confirmed. Organiser and host Geoff Keighley broke the news that Summer Game Fest 2021 will begin on the 10th June, with a "Premiere Showcase" promising news and announcements (as well as a musical performance from Weezer).
This is all just two days before E3 2021 kicks into gear, so next month is set to be quite busy. That said, we would suggest tempering your expectations for Summer Game Fest. While companies like PlayStation, Ubisoft, and Capcom are down as partners, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll have huge news to share. It's probably far more realistic to expect, say, a new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart trailer from Sony, rather than the reveal of a brand new PS5 game.
It's also worth noting that publishers such as Ubisoft and EA are hosting their own events this summer. It's highly likely that any big announcements will be saved specifically for those shows.
Naturally, we'll be covering any relevant news here on Push Square — but will you be watching Summer Game Fest's opening showcase? Give Geoff a thumbs up in the comments section below.

I just want Sony to announce their own showcase. Hopefully they will have something to share soon!
Geoff has zero credibility from my perspective. He made us watch hours of ads and had no worthy content in the last Game Awards. Prepare to watch hours and hours of Fortnite ads!
@Rob_230 Same. A State of Play is what I'm assuming they'll do but it's odd how major companies are already making their presence known except for them.
Screw it, I'm going full hype on expectations! New God of War trailer with a release time frame and Horizon Forbidden West with a release date!!!
This looks more hype than E3!!!
Keighley is a beast
Wow Geoff is just swinging directly at the ESA with that date isn't he?
Begun the video game advertising wars have...I'll see myself out.
Temper expectations...so assuming Ragnarok revealed and released 10th June then? And its free?
Guessing Horizon: Forbidden West at Game Fest?
Weezer is performing?...I'm in.
@Gilvin From your lips to the Sony gods' ears with your expectations regarding HFW. Maybe a new trailer for it, too?
Syphon filter and resistance anouncement.🤔.nah.haha.hopefully.we get god of war and horizon announcement.word up son
Given how Game Awards 2020 was pretty much TLoU2 Awards, I think this may be where Factions and the rumoured TLoU Remake are announced.
Sure I will be tuning in to the show. I have started to like them more than E3 presentations.
Ah yes, Summer Games Mess, which was 4 months + of just....random announcements.
Tune in on this day for this thing. Now this thing next week. Okay now who's doing what and when?
Get ya flowcharts out people
Yay, another Keighly ego inflation seminar.
ESA may be money grubbing, but I'm going to throw my hat in their ring.
Since we still have a pandemic going around, I'm not expecting anything out of this fest and E3. Just seeing trailers of stuff that has already been announced.
@Lyonjak yes Ragnarok will be free via Gamepass
Weezer? Is that some 20 pack a day singer?
If Geoff is involved then expect a mountain of hype for a decidedly average show.
And as someone mentioned above, the when and where of the announcements was a giant mess last year - I genuinely didn't know when it started or when it stopped!
Hype Train....
Yes we finally get the Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid announcements!! Resident Evil 9 and 4 remake announcements as well! Wow!!
Weird guess but... the "extended edition" of Death Stranding gets announced for PS5 (please, God...) but is also announced for Xbox; this gives them something to talk about at E3 which will lead into revealing whatever Kojima and Xbox are doing together.
That's great news...hoping for Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok, and Horizon: Forbidden West updates.
Anything else will be a welcome surprise.
