It's been officially confirmed that the new Battlefield 2042 mode pitched as a "love letter to core fans" will be bringing back classic maps from previous entries in the FPS franchise. We'll learn more during the digital EA Play showcase later this month, with a full unveiling planned for the show ahead of the game's PlayStation 5 and PS4 release date of 22nd October 2021. The new mode is being developed by the newly-named Ripple Effect Studios, formerly known as DICE LA.
Confirmation of this key detail now lends further weight to a leak from earlier this year that suggested the mode will be named Battlefield Hub and include classic guns, vehicles, and scenarios alongside the maps we have all come to know and love.
EA Play will take place on 22nd July 2021, which is where we'll learn much more. The publisher is also set to share more on Apex Legends as well as reveal the rumoured Dead Space game, if recent reports are to be believed. Which classic Battlefield maps do you hope are included? Pray for Operation Metro in the comments below.

I’d love to see Arica Harbour from bad company 2, metro and the massive snow level from BC2
I don't really understand why they're doing this. Won't it compete directly with the actual Battlefield 2042 maps and content? Surely they want people playing the new stuff?
@get2sammyb I think the goal is for people to buy the game and stay playing it so more people buy the game/microtransactions. I doubt they care if you are playing new or old maps as long as you are engaged in their product.
Just give me all of the BF3 Maps thanks. Maybe BFBC2 maps also
@get2sammyb I think they’ll get lots of players back for nostalgia reasons. I’d 100% play the old maps to death
@Boucho11 @captainsandman Yeah I guess you're right. Strikes me as odd to have their new game competing with their old games all in the same place, but I guess as long as they're getting people to upgrade to this newest version they don't really care which portion people are playing.
If they bring back Silk Road or Caspian Border I will be happy
What is this mode they speak of? Why not just classic maps on rotation on a separate playlist?
I always like Flood Zone and Golmud from BF4. And Dawn Breaker. And Rogue Transmission.
Actually, just remake BF4. It’s my most played multiplayer game. Please.
Just give us everything from bad company 2 vietnam please.
Oh, and 'par for the course' too.
Battlefield in its prime!
Whatever maps they throw in, I just can't wait. I got my boys into bf5 and we've had a great time playing together, so it looks like I'm buying 3 copies when it releases!
Paracel Storm and Flood Zone ould be nice
@get2sammyb BF has been throwing legacy maps into post launch content since at least BFBC2, and it's been almost universally lauded every time. If anything, I think it will unite the player base more, having content spread over 20 years of games consolidated into one new release.
I'd love to see Donya Fortress & Ziba Tower from the Close Quarters DLC. Spamming C4 on the control points, so much fun. Metro would be great too!
Operation Locker, who doesn't get tired of back and forth deadlock mass reviving.
I never liked the maps which mainly had soldier v soldier combat. Much preferred the more open ones when you had a load of vehicles to choose from.
@Vacuumator
As someone who doesnt really play multiplayer games 4 and 1 are the only multiplayer games i can recall sinking some serious hours into. 4 was a blast and 1 was good as well although I played that more because of being a history buff and having the shear novelty of having a huge ww1 game.
@Boucho11 Right on bro!
They have been doing so since battlefield 4 and I genuinely cannot think of a battlefield game without metro map. I absolutely loved it in bf3 and while the BF4 version wasn't that great, it's quite awesome in bfv. Not sure if there is metro in bf1.
I’d love to see a near future interpretation of the map Ballroom Blitz from Battlefield One. That’s one of my favorite shooter maps of all time, especially the team death match/domination compact version of it.
@JohnnyShoulder
I’m the exact opposite. I spent most of my BF1 time on Domination and TD maps. I love the infantry gameplay of the Battlefield series.
Don’t get me wrong though, I sunk more than enough hours into Rush and Conquest over the years on BF1 and BFV.
@get2sammyb they could do it like they used to rent servers. You rent access to a BFBC2 server?
