Bandai Namco is making quite a big deal out of side activities in Tales of Arise, and we're all for it. In the game's latest trailer, we get a glimpse of three different pastimes: fishing, cooking... and farming. Yes, that's right, you'll be able to "reap the rewards of the land" in Tales of Arise, as the trailer says. We don't know quite how in-depth this is going to be, but you're at least given the opportunity to look after ridiculously cute animals.
You'll also be able to interact and get to know your fellow party members whenever you make camp, with the trailer showing a few comical scenes.
Are you looking forward to Tales of Arise? Work the land in the comments section below.

That's really neat. It's these kinds of features that flesh out the depth of open world games and make me more excited to playπ
You can make wee boxes of Alpen.
So they're fishing and farming in full ceremonial armour? I really don't understand the love for Japanese kitsch and absurdity in games though. If I wasn't so lazy I'd defect to XBox.
@deadfred77
Not everything needs to be ultra realistic. In fact for me realism is most usually a negative and I rarely buy grey western games. Each to their own though.
Will we be able to butcher the livestock with our ridiculously large weapons?
My childhood dog would have loved one of those pigs lugs, she would have been chewing that for days.
@thefourfoldroot Yeah, if I'd want realism I'd go outside.
@nessisonett YES! Comment of the week!
Bandai is running a poll on YouTube asking which side activity we are most looking forward (which made me watch the trailer to answer). Farming was definitely the one the most called my attention. Unfortunately it is in the last position in the poll, Camping being the first.
Yesterday I completed and submitted a hole online questionary from Sega asking for feedback about Virtua Fighter 5. Congratulations to these japanese companies that are looking for feedback from players. I hope they use the answers to make their games even better.
By the way, does anyone know if there will a permanent character death in Tales of Arise like there is in Fire Emblem? That would give the game a important new depth of gameplay.
Interesting but honestly I'm in it for the monster slaying and open world exploration mainly.
@nessisonett Alpen gives me a bad case of the windies π
my interest in this has suddenly sky rocketed!
What are the most boring activities you can do?
Let's put them in the game!
@vict0RGM They had a permanent character death in Tales of Zestiria and they still botched it. It was rushed and wasn't explained well so the impact was lost.
I usually used to get bored with the tales series, but this is appealing to me more and more with each tidbit
@ILikeStake does that mean your comments are getting added too?
This will be my first Tales game in awhile, looking forward to checking out these features!
