Here's yet another system for you to buy The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on: PlayStation 5! Yes, Bethesda is re-releasing its behemoth RPG once more as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition for both PS5 and PS4 on 11th November 2021. If you already own the Special Edition on PS4, that particular edition can be freely upgraded on PS5, bundling in three new pieces of DLC (fishing, survival mode, and Saints and Seducers quests) alongside some visual and technical enhancements. There will then be a charge to gain access to the contents of the Anniversary Edition, which will be over 500 Creation Club elements.
Announced during a QuakeCon livestream, this 10th-anniversary version is essentially the Special Edition repackaged with over 500 Creation Club elements and fishing. The technical details of the new PS5 versions (better resolution, framerate, and DualSense implementation for example) are currently unknown. So, just to clarify, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is:
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
- 500+ Creation Club elements
- Fishing
"In addition to the three free Creation Club items mentioned above, this version contains the full game plus all three expansions and over 500 pieces of unique content from Creation Club, including pre-existing and new quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells and more!"
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition and free PS5 upgrade for Special Edition owners will both be out on 11th November 2021. Will you be replaying Skyrim once again? Prepare yourself in the comments below.

Bethesda: Fans! It’s time to buy Skyrim again!
Fans: Yes dear…
So is that basically with some mods activated? And fishing?
Why isn't this version coming to my fridge, Todd?
Going to wait for the PS7 version personally. I've never played Skyrim so may as well hold out for the best version in 15 years!
Fishing eh? They've certainly reeled plenty of people in with this game hahahahaha
@redd214 This is the true Alpha Gamer mentality. Waiting a decade or more for the absolute best version of a game. Only a moron would do otherwise.
Yea I think I'll pass on this one tbh, played it enough times, tried it in vr and after a while I thought nah I've played it enough already.
Ah yes it's about time this game was widely available for players around the world! Bethesda saw Rockstar trying to take the lead with GTAV and got nervous about Skyrim not being available on more systems. 😂
OH BOY SKYRIM TIME
it’s free and yes i’m oddly excited despite it clearly being worse than a modded PC version
@ShogunRok I'm pleased someone finally recognizes my genius!!
Of course they are.. haha
All joking aside I'm totally going to play it again.
They know porting Skyrim is a meme. And they did it again anyway 🤦
Where is the Oblivion love?
Physical edition?
Rest assured in 90 years there’ll be a 100 year anniversary edition! THIS GAME WILL NEVER DIE!!!
Again... this game is like a plague.
Kill it with fire!
I haven’t played this since having it on PS3. I’d probably give it a go again to be honest if they updated the visuals
@rpg2000 Plagues are less fun. And don’t let you yeet Lydia off a cliff.
FFXV: His Holy Highness Noctis Edition in 3, 2...
PS5 game library won't be complete though until it gets RE4 and Okami w/ haptic feedback celestial brush.
Motion control aiming???????
Just another re-release of Skyrim. How many times already? It’s almost ten years ago when Skyrim was released. Bethesda goes Skyrim-nuts and so far no new game in the series released. I’m wondering whether another TES title will be worth the waiting.
I'd much rather Oblivion get this treatment
It never stops does it?
@ShogunRok I never found the game that special anyway.
Playstation version.
I'd like a Fallout 4 version too.
@redd214 PS5s might be readily available at that time.
Cool news. I play Skyrim really modded on PC, so while Skyrim dualsense would be awesome, I can’t go without all the mods.
Also, this wasn’t announced and didn’t have to be on PS. Maybe ES6 will be PS5.
@MidnightDragonDX Yeah, so TES 6 won't be coming to PS but a ten year old game will?!
That's MS truly taking the piss!
I loved this game back in the day but really not interested in replaying it even on PS5.
... And it will still be buggy as sh*t
@Col_McCafferty They haven't said for certain that 6 won't be coming to playstation, the only exclusives so far have been new ips.
I know, its a slim hope at this point but it's not 100% confirmed (I think).
I wonder if the current modding situation for PlayStation has changed. Not that it's seemingly needed from the looks of those 500 plug ins.
@carlos82 more or less, but keep in mind the current special edition has a limit of around 255 mods, assuming you'd even manage a stable load order with that many. Having 500 seemingly built in is quite a lot, and being creation club packs they'll all be compatible with eachother so no stability issues (well not any more than usual for official Bethesda products).
God dangit, Todd, not again!
Great, good news to hear while i rest and heal from the arrow i took to my knee.
No words. Who doesn't just have a modded PC version with better visuals and all the extra quests built by some really great coders? I have the VR version, too. I don't think I require this at all.
@Werewius they’re literally celebrating the fact that it’s a 10 year old game by re re releasing it…again.
Unless it has the proper this gen upgrade, hard pass. I actually have never played Skyrim before.
Skyrim 2011: I've sold 30+ mil games, across generations and consoles! Countless iterations!
Gta v 2013: hold mah beer..
Fishing? I don't know... I will return to Skyrim if there are bingo games running on Dragonsreach's dining hall.
...I would definitely strive to be the bingo champion of Skyrim.
This announcement is filled with incorrect information on basically every site. To clarify the Anniversary Edition is NOT free and requires a paid upgrade from the Special Edition. However those who have the Special Edition will get a free update with 3 pieces of specific Creation Club content as well as fidelity upgrades for the new consoles. The Anniversary Edition contains a ton more Creation Club content and will cost money to upgrade to it from the Special Edition.
So Covid means most people that can work on new games are in limbo and we're largely left with those that can upgrade old stuff huh...
@Jaz007 This is just a PS5 patch + 3 mods (free to celebrate 10 years) and a Bundle with 500 paid mods, not a new game.
Not saying they r, but both games announced today for PS4/5 can be relead as legacy titles.
Over on the ps blog it says it is coming to "PlayStation 4 consoles with backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5 systems". Since it is backwards compatibility... probably no PS5 specific features.
So burn PlayStation by being bought from Microsoft and announce we will never see Elder Scrolls 6. However we want you to buy our older game? I would get special edition while on sale since never played it and it looks good, however my stance about the situation holds me back.
I didn't even know Creation Club had over 500 "elements". Sure hope Skyrim Anniversary allows for better mod support like XBox One; its hard to go back to vanilla Skyrim once you've gotten a taste for mods. Now, if there was an update for Skyrim VR that took full advantage of the PS5's power, I'd be even happier.
@omalleycat215 That is not on Bethesda, is on Sony and security concerns...
@MaikonCSGarcia I know. Better mod support is unlikely, but a man can dream.
This'll be the third system i fail to finish this game on
Bought Skyrim special edition years ago tried to play it on my PS4 pro but there was so many bugs & the frame rate was terrible haven't played it since
One of those games that is so nearly awesome. Great visuals, score, atmosphere and scene setting. Just bugs and bad planning messing it all up
But what about Fallout 3? Why didn't it get the same treatment? 😢
Oh, FFS! The PS4 version was awful and barely looked any different to the PS3 version.
No, I can't be bothered to buy this again, certainly not given MS's ruling on the future titles not hitting PS platforms.
Maybe read the official announcement and post the correct information: https://bethesda.net/en/article/REybYU3Gy2InVlHmus4UC/skyrim-10th-anniversary-fan-celebration
If you have the SE (which is out now) then you get the 3 minor updated features and the free PS5 upgrade on the 11th of November. If you want the version with the 500+ bonus mods, you have to pay an upgrade fee (which isn't specified yet).
You do NOT get the new version for free, but you do get the PS5 version for free. And yes, the PS Blog only said it's via BC on the PS5, but Bethesda, in the link above, clearly says a PS5 and Xbox Series version is also coming (maybe it's going to be later than the launch of the new version?)
TL;DR - Push Square are posting incorrect information again.
@redd214 until the better version than that in 20 years...
@Jayofmaya does anybody require this at this stage? It's been bled to death, move on bathesda stop milking your fans dry for some extra money on a still broken game
I'd rather see Oblivion. Or Morrowind
You don't even need to buy this again. On a PS5 loaded with graphics mods and quests, weapons etc and visual enhancements the special edition looks better than ever
Let's gooooooooo
Probably only cause I might have a thing for madafakin dragons,Dragonborn 😅.Honest Trailer should be official re reveal for this
@KingPev Didnt people buy it enough already. 🤪
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - NOW WITH EXTRA FROGGY!!!!🐸
Oh god please no! No again! 😂😂😂
@meistergeister at this point it's pretty hard to kill, even with fire! 🔥🔥🔥
@mucc well they can shove it in that case, can't expect people to pay again for £60 I can play on pc with 1000 mods, who cares!
@Orpheus79V haha yeah, I think this is most beneficial for Playstation as well where mod support is limited. I'm playing on PC but still might upgrade out of curiosity with what's been added
***** a duck Bethesda really rinses Skyrim...
Goodness me, another Skyrim release? Seriously?
They've milked this so much that it is totally boring now.
Just release a remaster pack of Oblivion, Fallout:New Vegas, and Fallout 3, that will sell like hot cakes.
Although if they did it would probably not come to PlayStation which is sad.
Oblivion on PS3 still has bugs. And New Vegas is literally unplayable.
@Gremio108 you had me laughing at “hahahaha” 😂
@CheekyMonkey Yep seems a little unclear.
Though the way I read it if you have last gen version you do get the full current gen + next gen version for free. The only people that have to pay extra is for GamePass subscribers to get the full version.
@KingPev In reality I'd like to have DualSense features then a 4k60fps mode & "a less than 4k" 120fps mode on the PS5 version. That would be worth the $15 the current version is on sale for I just wish Bethesda would say if this new version will have that or not.
@kuu_nousee
Nah, the Bethesda post explains it all
"Current and future owners of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on any platform including Xbox Game Pass Subscribers will receive access to three free pieces of Creation Club content: Fishing, Survival Mode and even new quests with Saints and Seducers. Additionally, Skyrim Special Edition owners on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, as well as Xbox Game Pass subscribers on Xbox Series X|S will receive a free upgrade to an enhanced version on November 11 for their respective PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S systems!"
^^ Anyone who has the SE on PS4 or Xbox will get the three CC content and you'll also get the PS5 or Xbox Series version for free.
"Existing owners of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive the option to purchase an Anniversary Edition upgrade for their Special Edition version of the game to gain access to all the additional content found in the Anniversary Edition."
^^ If you have the SE version then you can buy an upgrade to give you the CC bundle that contains over 500 items.
Push Square simply presumed you get a free upgrade to the Anniversary Edition, which you don't. You get the PS5 version free, but the AE content is an additional charge.
Er I thought Microsoft didn't want our(PlayStation Fans) money?!?!
We'll be playing this with our minds in 100 years on the PS20 and XBoX2. 😜
If we get a new updated VR version, with analogue sticks for PSVR2, that's when I'll buy it again.
@kuu_nousee ooh that does sound nice yeah
@Carl-G Just a free patch + a Bundle with all paid mods, not as this was a new game, + Bethesda had already said they still would support already existing games, Phil said the same.
@redd214 I'm not touching it until they announce the inevitable Skyrim for Playdate console. The crank will revolutionize the new hurdy gurdy weapon.
@CheekyMonkey gotcha I see. Seems silly and really who cares as long as we get DualSense and 60fps/120fps modes on PS5 for free.
I'm pretty sure Todd will still be whoring Skyrim on the PS10.
@SplooshDmg no it's not, don't lie to yourself, dlc and base game is basically unplayable to this day and remains broken
Only version is playable is pc version and that is very lucky because fallout 3 is unplayable on windows, this is the only way I can play new Vegas!
Id deffo go for skyrim again if sony allowed better mod support. After playing it on the xbox one X and seeing what could be done then finding out that most of those mods wasnt compatible on the PS4 i was pretty disappointed.
@SplooshDmg
I'm afraid not. The base version is fairly stable but the ultimate edition with all the DLC is not. It has been well known that when your save file reaches 10MB the game becomes unplayable and crashes almost immediately every time.
Bethesda has been aware of it for years and never fixed it.
I’m almost ashamed to say I’ll be getting this 🤣.
So they will give us a remaster of a remaster of a remaster of a game that came out a decade ago? But now with fishing??
Yeah no thanks Microsoft, I'm good.
@TowaHerschel7 it better not be buggy, or you might develop a new medical condition...
@NomNom not a selling a remaster, the Next-Gen patch is free, like Doom, they r selling the bundle with all paid mods.
I'll wait for the PS5 version to be $20 New in a few years (or the upgrade cost).
This is just getting pathetic now.
Imagine if they put as much effort as they do on re-releasing Skyrim into actually making Elder Scrolls 6.
So, the PS5 enhanced version is the same thing as the anniversary edition just without the fishing and extra creators club stuff, right?
As someone who never played Skyrim on a flat screen and gave it a try on PSVR, i can only say that i totally fell in love with it and am happily adventuring for almost a year now! I play a lot of other stuff too, but when i'm busy with it it still blows my mind at times. The atmosphere, especially inside caves and temples is just so claustrophobic and creepy, truly impressive with the headset on. I extensively played Oblivion back in the PS3 days, but somehow didn't connect with it and gave up halfway through. Never bothered to try Skyrim as a result of that, but man am i glad i finally gave it a try when the VR version came around! I play on a PS4 Pro and the image quality is clear enough for me, i just ignore all those gorgeous YT vids of mods for Skyrim PCVR, lol. It would be nice if Skyrim VR recieved some kind of update too for this anniversary thing, i enjoy the crap out of it but there is definitely room for improvement here and there. I'm a lefty and am using the Move controllers, but the configuration options are seriously broken. I want to wield a sword with my left hand, but the game only lets me do so if i navigate with right.. I use the right hand config so i can move with left, but am limited to one-handed weapons for it at the same time. I can't use a shield at all as it is designated to the same hand. No option to swap hands. My right hand is casting that firespell so i have at least something to use at a distance, since using a bow is right hand config. and feels terribly unnatural for me. Lunacy Bethesda doesn't let you assign buttons the way you prefer them. Even small indie vr devs usually put more thought in comforting lefty gamers as well.. Real bummer but i managed to work around it, limited to using the same type of weapons everytime. Lol. That said, as a physically disabled swordsman i struggle happily through the whole thing and am having a blast regardlessly! Thanks Bethesda for letting me experience Skyrim in VR, and at the same time screw you for not giving a damn to update the broken lefty controls.. (And selling your soul to Microsoft..☹️😭) Whoever took the time to read all of this, you must be close to being just as bored as i am on this rainy sunday. Cheers to that! Now back to Whiterun to start a barfight and set fire to my dog.
