While publisher Activision hasn't sent out official word of a reveal date just yet, it certainly looks like the announcement of Call of Duty: Vanguard is right around the corner. Community members have this morning been sent clips teasing the upcoming title, with YouTuber MrDalekJD posting what he has received to Twitter. It's four seconds long and doesn't exactly show too much, but you can certainly work out the setting: World War II. The "Western Front" title accompanying the video then seals the deal.
But before then, the official Call of Duty Twitter account embraced yesterday's leaks and rumours with a comedic tweet of its own. Call of Duty: Vanguard developer Sledgehammer Games did the same thing, humorously pointing out that it can't seem to control the leaks.
Those who claim to be in the know are pointing towards an official reveal next week on 19th August 2021, so if that's true, we have exactly one week to wait until the World War II setting and everything that comes with it is confirmed. The existence of an open beta was also leaked yesterday alongside a cross-gen bundle and Ultimate Edition.

Don't care for CoD one bit. But gotta hand it to them, that's a pretty fun way to start teasing the next entry after yesterdays leak.
I have all the COD's accept Cold War. Didn't like the way it played in the beta.
Also, even though I have it, I played maybe 2 minutes of Infinate Warfare. Wasn't interested in the wall running/sliding etc.
Will defo be getting Vanguard though
Most legit games sites aren't doing Activision coverage while overwhelming evidence of worker abuse and sexual assault and harassment continues to come to light, out of solidarity with the people who actually make these games, but Push Square is out here doing their own PR for them. Leaves a real bad taste in this Push Square fan's mouth. If you're not getting paid to do this, which is anyway a terrible excuse, then why on Earth...? Any other fans of this site disappointed?
I’m very excited.
Cold War was and still is garbage. Need a new game to get back to the WWII/MW reboot levels
@nofriendo Nope, it is relevant videogame/Playstation news, so they're covering it
@nofriendo Thanks for reading, and I appreciate the comment!
While we're aware — and have reported on — the harrowing stories coming out of Activision Blizzard, our view is that there are still many decent, hard working people positively and passionately contributing to the publisher's projects.
If we were to boycott Activision Blizzard, then by principle we must also boycott Ubisoft, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, and many others. At what point do we draw the line? And does that mean we're saying so-called "lesser offenses" are okay?
Our goal is to be the best PlayStation website in the world, and that includes reporting on games that our readers are playing.
We will continue to make our readers aware of serious workplace/industry issues that come to light, and we believe it's up to the reader to decide whether they want to continue to support that company.
I hope this helps to answer your question, and like I say, we do appreciate the feedbak!
@get2sammyb Thanks for the earnest response. I don't care to argue the merits of covering news-adjacent-adjacent material like this in light of what's going on, just to share the perspective of a daily reader who's put off by it. Push Square is part of a games journalism ecosystem, and this family of sites frequently falls behind in terms of grown-up, moral engagement with the industry as a whole. I think that's OK most of the time. If I didn't get so much pleasure out of this site I wouldn't bother piping in. But as a member of your community I thought it'd be some value to share my perspective.
Sadly just not interested in the WW2 setting compared to Battlefield 2042.
I personally can't wait. Call of Duty is like your yearly summer blockbuster to me. It may never be groundbreaking, but it always enjoyable.
@nofriendo nope , its wrong what happened , but thats none of my business or concern. im just a customer waiting for my next game to play ( even though im skipping this trash ) . i think push-square is being professional by not talking about personal issues of the individuals that work there , and rather they're just talking strictly about the game instead .
now making an entirely different article about that scandal is different and one thing , but talking about it in an article thats about the next COD game aint it .
Modern Warfare 2019 was a fantastic game that played very well with the IW8 game engine, then came cold war which just felt completely lackluster in comparison. 1 thing I'm excited for us the fact that Vanguard will be running the IW8 engine, that being said I've completely boycotted Warzone. I stopped playing about a month ago, NOT because of the disgusting practices going on at Activision but because of how BAD the cheating has become in the game. I have captured footage of BLATANT cheating and sent it into Activision with no response. I'm genuinely excited for Vanguard as Sledgehammer games does make decent COD games as MW3, Advance Warfare & WW2 were extremely fun for me especially the Zombies in WW2 where I spent copious amounts of time doing the Easter eggs lol happy gaming PUSH SQUARE community 🙂✌️
Please don't let the Western Front be the only one in the game.
My money is ready to be taken
@get2sammyb Pushed a employee so far she commited suïcide because of the abuse. And its not the only thing Activision Blizzard had been up to.
Ubisoft is on that level and people never had to answer for their abuse. And there are quite some stories its still bad.
Well i read the article about Insomniac and yes this should be adressed. My apologies never heard about this one and yes should be hold more responsable for their actions.
These things should be not brushed away so easy by sites that would make the big companies take steps faster and better.
@nomither6 Its not Pushsquare alone its many other sites. Companies are getting away to easy with this stuff and the more they are kept accountable the more/faster these things will end.
And giving companies a pass has nothing to do with being professional. The Jimquisition quite a few good stories on the gamingindustry. From abuse and making money of people who are addicts or kids.
You dont have to completely ban games from these companies bit they should at least read that this stuff wont go away wo easy.
@Flaming_Kaiser I stated in my last comment about making an individual article about it - I agree with you. I was just telling the other guy that something like that should be mentioned in an article of its own , rather than included in an article about a game .
What is Vanguard? A brand new COD? Add on to Cold War? DLC? I’m confused. Never heard of this until today as I’ve been away
"There is another scandal within the company. Quick, Reveal the next CoD!"
@nofriendo complete valid standpoint Nofriendo
From another perspective however… the problems at Activision have a ton of light shining on them right now. Which is great. I’d say enough to give them a black eye and inspire drastic change. Perhaps those (and said families) who aren’t toxic in that place still stand to benefit in having their hard work promoted.
Just my two cents. Getting Battlefield anyway. Was never great at the run n gun in CoD.
