It was always unlikely to be there in the first place, but here's another game you can add to the "unlikely to appear at the PlayStation Showcase" list: Call of Duty: Vanguard. The game's multiplayer reveal is scheduled for tomorrow at 6pm BST / 10am PT / 1pm ET, taking place on YouTube. Details on the "maps, modes, weapons, new features" and more will be shared throughout the livestream.
Following the show, Call of Duty: Vanguard kickstarts its open beta this coming weekend, exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PS4. It will contain four maps, six modes (including Champion Hill), a level 30 cap on weapons, and some access to Operators. Following on from the first weekend of access, the beta returns on 16th September 2021 through to Monday.
The mode we know the most about is Champion Hill after a previous alpha test allowed PS5 and PS4 users to take it for a spin. Teams of two, three, or even four battle it out across a series of rounds against one another, whittling down a life pool until an opponent is eliminated. Cash can be earned by killing players and picking it up across the four Champion Hill maps, which can then be spent on upgrading weapons, killstreaks, and perks. The team with lives left at the end of it all wins the match.
In all likelihood, Team Deathmatch will be one of the modes joining the open beta this week. Sledgehammer Games will likely detail the full line-up tomorrow, so check back in roughly 24 hours for an update. If the single player campaign is more your thing, then Gamescom Opening Night Live recently shared 10 minutes of footage from those levels played on your lonesome.

Can't really be arsed anymore with COD games. From the issues in gameplay (cheaters etc.), the way they manage their game size and how they automatically delete parts of your game every time an update gets released. Absolute nightmare with their software management.
Well I was expecting it to be revealed at the Playstation stream. Looks like it won't
Thank god no time wasted on this at Thursday's showcase
I'm glad it's not part of Sony's showcase. More time for games I might be interested in.
The Champion Hill Alpha was pretty fun actually so I'll give it a look.
@Korgon
I had the exact opposite reaction. I didn’t care for it. Interesting game mode, but I didn’t care for the gun play.
From what I understand Vanguard runs on MW 2019 graphics engine and uses it’s shooting mechanics. The graphical upgrade was nice, but I’ve always been more into the arcady mechanics of the black ops series.
That said, I’ve gotten so sick of the cheating epidemic in Cold War that I uninstalled it. 400 hours of my life and I burned myself out on it thanks to hackers.
@TheRedComet
Oh I didn't know about that bit with the Modern Warfare engine. That probably explains why we feel different on it as the Modern Warfare reboot was the 1st COD I enjoyed in over a decade actually. Granted that is mostly because of the gun fight mode.
Sorry to hear that about Cold War though. It's sad to see a game get ruined by cheaters.
COD MW was the worst piece of software i have ever played. I could not even play it. Literally, the freaking software said I did not had the MP component installed. It was that bad.
whos really excited anymore about CoD besides the new generation of 13 yr olds
@BrintaPap - I tried installing it on my PS5 a week ago. I downloaded all of the download components, texture packs, MP, Campaign, Spec Ops - everything and it still wouldn't run. I deleted it and tried again two more times, still can't play it on my PS5. I have the disc version, my buddy owns it digitally and his worked fine. I won't be buying Vanguard as the way they have tried to integrate the 3 games into one menu annoys me. Plus the file size is reportedly almost 200Gb...
@nomither6 well start with the 30 million players that bought modern warfare alone. So id say lots of people are excited. Youre just not one of them, so maybe read articles on games you do enjoy.
@Greenfisted i was one of the 30 mil , doesn't mean that i was ''excited'' about it though. maybe read peoples comments more carefully before you pop-off with a smart-mouth ; save it for a troll or something .
you don't have to be ''excited'' about a game to have interest in buying it chief , this is like the 18th + CoD game ffs .
@Air-Dog I had the exact same issue on my ps4 pro. So I sold ( I kinda never sell my games) it and never looked back.
@Greenfisted quote the part where i insulted you , chief ; you didn't read that response well neither i see , so you must be triggered. & i didn't "insinuate'' anything , i directly said it , and i mentioned a new generation being excited about it - so i didn't say that nobody was excited about it . i think what you're really sick of , is people saying things you don't like , get over it , dude.
@BrintaPap - yeah, the disc has almost become a full time coaster. It is working ok on my PS4 pro though. It is very frustrating - but I’ve moved on.
@Greenfisted ''i didn't say you insulted me, chief. '' oh , so then its even more apparent that from the get-go you were just looking to get into an argument over another complete strangers input . triggered right outta the gate because i said something you didn't like , and instigated insults to be thrown.
im not gonna even bother reading the rest of your nonsense , grow up ; people are gonna have their views , and not everyones gonna be an overly-positive fake boy-scout about it . i rather be an honest human-being who doesn't complain about others perspectives , and pout about it in the comments - my last response to you chief .
