Deathloop is finally here, and you know what that means. Yep, we'll never have to sit through another Deathloop trailer during a PlayStation event! Cause for celebration, to be sure.
Okay, snark aside, seeing Deathloop appear at what felt like every showcase over the last year or so seemed like overkill — to the point where some of our readers said they were actually put off buying the game. But as always, we want to know the truth. Did you buy Deathloop?
Fortunately, the game itself is really good. We gave it an 8/10 in our Deathloop PS5 review, concluding: "Few games have the confidence and swagger of Deathloop. Packed full of charisma and wit, it's a game that can be played your way, with your own style and cunning. A very accomplished package of gameplay features supplies the goods, and the time loop delivers fun and deceitful opportunities over and over again. Deathloop may be the final game out of Arkane Studios to hit Sony consoles, but the developer goes out with an undisputed bang."
So, without further ado, let us know if you nabbed a copy in our polls, and then let us know your plans for breaking the loop in the comments section below.

Arkane are in the mix for being amongst my fave devs, the Dishonoured series and Prey were stellar. Arkane and Tango Gameworks are one reason I bought a Series X last week.
I played Dishonoured 1 and 2 and that’s why I know I’ll hate Deathloop cos I hated those. That and it fully looks like you’re killing mannequins lmao. Thank god for no questions refunds cos I hated both Dishonoured games
Yep pre-ordered it and from what i've played its been very good, haven't played much though as my gaming time has been limited this week so i hope to get stuck in this weekend and next week.
Nope, might be at a very steep discount later. I don't like this "repeating levels" kind of gameplay, maybe in souls like game but not in first person shooter.
I love Dishonored and can't wait to play this, but I'm not getting it at launch as: a) I don't have time to play it right now, and; b) I'm expecting a swift price drop on this one.
Arkane games are in a certain style of graphics not ultra realistic. Its a design choice. In terms of immersive playground they are one of the best developer so I support that. I have enjoyed dishonored and prey also
I don't even have a PS5 so I'll wait till I can get one from a store or direct from Sony. I refuse to get it from anyone else.
I just don't see what folks see in it personally but I'm glad it turned out great for the folks that were interested. Granted I haven't played it personally. My opinion is based on the trailers which never got me interested and Arkane has a very unique art style to their games that doesn't appeal to me. I wish them luck in the future though.
The game got so much coverage that I feel like I’ve already played and finished it!
Not buying it when it will be in Game Pass next year. Besides that, next week will Diablo 2 be released and that will take all my game time for the next months.
I really liked Dishonored but at the same time I got a lot of headaches from it. Didn't get round to playing Dishonored 2 but I want to.
Deathloop didn't show anything to get me excited and it looked like a title I'd only play when it's dirt cheap or went onto PS+. Can't see PS+ happening now so it would be either dirt cheap or GamePass in a year. Will see what happens.
I just didn't get on with Dishonoured. I really tried to like them but they just didn't do it for me. Deathloop looks like the same style of gameplay so I just haven't been that interested in it. Maybe that will change but the pushsquare review didn't really inspire me.
No. This month is too packed with Tales of Arise and Lost Judgement been my priority. Will prob grab it later down the line.
HELL NO!!!! Call me when Kena's out
Deathloop is just too short an experience to justify paying full price for me. I know length of a game is subjective but if you can 100% complete a game in under 30 hours then it's just not worth the money imo
I know people will compare the price to watching a movie but I find people being overcharged for a movie as well. That's just me though, hopefully whoever does pick it up enjoys it since I'm not here to tell you to hate the game you bought.
I'll buy it in the future. While I like Dishonored 1 and 2, I feel this is a game that's better at a price drop.
After a slightly laborious first couple of hours I’m enjoying it hugely. It’s more a puzzle game with guns than anything else, and the way things start to come together as you work out how to line up your targets is immensely satisfying.
I preordered it the day before release - as soon as all the (positive) reviews dropped. Have put in a few hours, but still not sure what I make of it so far. I couldn’t get into Prey but loved Dishonored 1&2.
Love PREY fantastic game
Never played the Dishonored games, and have no interest in Deathloop.
If I ever play it, it'll probably be for "free" on GamePass someday.
Waited for reviews before taking advantage of the PS plus discount. Reviews came out and discount ended. So I'll wait for a price drop
After the first couple hours I wondered whether I would even finish the game. I’m nearing the end and while I don’t think it’s a great game, it’s decent. It’s a cool idea, but the gameplay just isn’t for me. I’m shocked this game is getting 10s as I don’t see it anywhere close to that.
On my list of games to buy when I have a PS5.
Came bundled with my playstation 5 yesterday but sold it on ebay for £50, il play it when it's in the bargain bin which judging by how quick that happened to the previous dishonoured games, it won't be too long
Excited to try it down the road, probably once the price drops a bit. Arkane is great at what they do, and this looks to be a solid bit of fun!
Deathloop looks interesting but I have not been a fan of Prey or the Dishonored games. Not sure if Deathloop will be any better for me. Might pick it up on sale one day.
Nope. Why? Well I don’t have a PS5 yet and even though I liked the Dishonered series from Arkane studio, I didn’t really like Prey, so, meh..
Wasn't gonna buy it but someone was selling a brand new copy for $50, as opposed to the $80 it is in Canada in store so I bought it
Once a steep discount comes around then my interest will peak.
For those in the "I didn't like Dishonored therefore I won't like this" camp, know this: I've put a few hours in and it is so far from Dishonored I'm actually shocked. Aside from the aesthetic and controls/abilities, the mechanics feel worlds apart. Trust me I'm not super hot on the Dishonored games either but I'm LOVING this. Is so much purer, and more "fun".
@JB_Whiting I'm one of those so good to hear that someone who didn't like Dishonoured might like this. Will consider picking it up at some point if the price is right.
@render Ah that's good to hear. I think one of the things that stood out to me is how the game encourages you to fail through experimentation. You can't be tempted to save scum this every time you get spotted or screw up a kill because there are no checkpoints or manual saves; the whole loop is your checkpoint, and each "run" are these short, 10 or so minute bursts of gameplay where you just mess about. Aggression is actually welcomed!
Well I caved and bought it because of the enticing reviews. I had 0 interest in the game, the trailers only showed a generic shooter. Happy to say that this is a great game! 10/10? Probably not...but a GREAT game!
I played and beat it yesterday, took me about 10 hours total maybe?
You don't have to make notes, the game gives you a series of objectives to go through so you're never lost, but there is plenty of room for experimentation and optional side quests.
8/10 for me, definitely not a 10. Also, I think Dishonored 2 is the better game overall
Edit: I notice a lot of people comparing it to Prey here, I played that and absolutely hated it!!
Do these polls really need all those options? I don't see the point in having both "Yes" and "Also yes, but with slight variation" It's incredibly redundant. And on top of that it just makes it more difficult to properly guage where everyone is at with their purchasing decisions
@ShogunRok I appreciate that this is a PlayStation website, but it would have been informative (and revealing) if you had also included an option in the poll for those that were going to play it on the GamesPass, as I'm sure I'm not the only one that will wait the year and then play the game in that way. None of the poll options provided really represented that particular pathway...
I bought it and am absolutely loving it. I was on the fence, but as reviews dropped they eased my mind on things I thought I wouldn’t like. I’ve just completed my first full loop and have taken out a couple of the Visionaries. I love the way it handles progression. I can’t wait to play more.
Great game! Every pre judgement i made was wrong. This is my favourite fps on ps5.
There’s a large part of me that wishes I preordered the game months ago, so I would’ve been forced to play it. Lol. I really want to play the game, but the wife has, with more logic than I, kept me waiting for the next sale, as I did have ten games already preordered for September/October. Don’t stress yourself out with too many games to play, she says. Remember the fall of 2019, she says. Have fun with what you will soon have, she says. You don’t even know if you will personally like it since you always quit games by that developer, she says. I mean, she’s right, but, with all the fantastic reviews, I feel like I NEED to know firsthand how the game feels. Just hoping a friend of mine will purchase and I’ll be able to visit. Lol.
@ATaco 30 hours of entertainment for £50 is a good deal IMO.
@Tchunga Redundant would imply that only a couple of the poll answers would be chosen — yes or no — but that's clearly not the case. People like to have more nuanced options in these polls — that's the overwhelming feedback we've had over the years.
@Fiendish-Beaver It would be interesting to see for sure, but most people who visit this site tend to lean so heavily towards PlayStation that I honestly don't think it would be worth having. If this was a multiplatform site, definitely.
by the time i am able to get a ps5 it will free on playstion plus
@Amin1998 And I'd disagree with that but then again I'm used to playing games that take upwards of 60 hours or more to 100% complete. Again, this is just me and I know people value things differently so if you're fine with the length of the game I won't argue with you.
@ATaco we’ll agree to disagree
Just not my type of game, but I am very happy to see it getting great reviews and people seem to really enjoy it. Always a good thing!
@Loftimus It happens... Remember when you was convince Abandoned was Kojima and Silent Hills? 🤗
I'm not motivated to buy this as I know that it'll be free in a year from now in gamepass.
It's definitely not a day one must-play title. There is unnecessary hype.
@Bleachedsmiles who said its not? 2023 my mate!
No point in buying a game for a console I can't get because of all the (insert 1000 words that could all individually get me banned for life) scalpers.
I think I will like the game but I've got a big backlog and its not a must-have title for me, so: no.
I have too many games to play right now so paying full price for it to sit for months if not a full year is dumb. I might get it eventually but I’d rather play Returnal, RE8, Death Stranding DC, Kena, and so on.
I’d love to buy this and play it but oh flippers all of the UK and US don’t have any PS5 consoles unless you spend more on stupid eBay or StockX. And why should we play it on PS5, it’s very PS4 quality so Arkane come on release date for the PS4 please.
I didn't buy Deathloop because after Prey's buggy PS4 release (like input lag) and Arkane's lack of transparency in terms of frame rate performance (showing "PS4" footage with triangle, circle, x and square button prompts, most likely running on a PC), I told myself I wouldn't buy another game from them. I know it was 4-5 years ago, but I'm still a little sour about it.
I played the original Dishonored. Didn't think it was incredible but I still had good fun with it. Gotta play through the sequel at some point. Might get Deathloop down the road, too many other titles in my backlog. Glad people like it, though!
I've not bought it but one for down the line either on a deal or gamepass. I played and finished dishonored but didn't love it and though I'm intrigued by the rave reviews, I've already got tons of games to play.
Played Dishonored 1 and 2... but this is not for me.
Anyway, super obsessed with Tales of Arise right now. I would not play anything else even if I had it.
Yep about 4 hours in and loving it. It's an incredible game, so well designed and clever - it's so different and far removed from the brilliant Dishonoured games that if you're not playing cos " Dishonoured didn't do it for me" then you're missing out
@Keyblade-Dan I just googled…Kena is coming out Tuesday?! I’m in!
Also: Deathloop looks very interesting but not quite convinced yet, probably will grab during a holiday PSN sale
@frankmcma Im so excited I pre-ordered Kena months ago and it's finally almost here 😁
I typically Day 1 releases for games like this, but I feel like I can wait after the volley of Deathloop marketing that has been directed at consumers, so maybe when it goes on sale...
@ShogunRok Understood, I just thought it might be interesting to see what percentage on here were going to wait for it to drop on the GamesPass. It may not be that many, but I doubt that I'm the only one. Twas just a thought...
@Fiendish-Beaver I'm also waiting for gamepass, I like the look of it but I'm not spending money that I can wait 12 months to get for free, and besides with the new gamepass games added this month have added on to a huge back log I doubt I'll get time till at least next year even if I was to buy it
@ShogunRok @Tchunga
I would offer that there could have been more options, such as "I bought Dishonored and Dishonored 2, but have not played them yet." It may only get one vote, but that would be what I voted.
This game will go on sale fast just like other Arkane games.
Oh yeah I had a $30 GameStop coupon so I went and grabbed it for half off. Love it so far. My expectations were way off and I did not think I would like it at first. It’s a ton of fun. Getting some slight wolfenstein feels also.
I loved both the Dishonoured games but this game held no interest for me from the moment it was announced. The amount of advertising it had I ended up getting sick of hearing about it.
I'm glad it got decent scores but I doubt I'll ever play it..unless it ends up on PS Plus.
@PowderToastMan Did the no face style bother you at all? I've seen a few videos and the enemies look more like something out of Dr Who than a human. That is about the only thing keeping me from buying it. I like more detail.
I
Dont
Have
a
PS5...
I did not buy it but played a bit tonight at my sons place and I don't think I'll make it through the weekend without picking up a copy. I Play across all platforms so was planning on waiting for the GP release but after getting a bit of hands on I recon I'll need to scratch that itch in 12 hours not 12 months. A Win for PlayStation
I preordered it but I'm still waiting for it to arrive in the mail, and yes I've played both Dishonored 1 & 2, LOVED Dishonored 1, but I just could not get into Dishonored 2, I'm not sure why though, there was nothing wrong with Dishonored 2, but it just didn't hook me like the first game did. I plan on revisiting Dishonored 2 some day, and hopefully it'll hook me in this time, I had similar experiences with Heavy Rain & Dead-Rising 2, now I love those games.
@kingbreww I do feel the same. I can't stand those games, the style, the gameplay, the characters.
40% HASN'T PLAYED DISHONORED?!?
On another note, y'all are missing death of the outsider in the poll.
Dont forget about Prey!
No I did not...I've got too much backlog to buy random games right now.
As for Dishonored, I own all 3 games but haven't played them yet.
Incredible game. My favorite PS5 release so far, really addicting. Exceeded my expectations by far.
Really if you’re not playing in because Bethesda is now owned by Microsoft, you’re missing out on a good thing
I got it on Steam and I like it quite a bit but I guess I'm one of the few on here that actually liked Dishonored. I also liked Prey and have to say that Deathloop shares very little, if anything with Prey, except for how there's no "right" way to get to and complete an objective (which I absoluteIy love btw). I think Deathloop is a great send off from Arkane as their last Playstation release
@BrettAwesome snooze you lose!
@daveofduncan
Yeah. Tell that to the 1000s of people who are on lists for notifications and what's not. Snooze I lose? I received two offers in 3 months. Both ridiculously overpriced. Are you a scalper? Your attitude seems to suggest it.
@ATaco If you bought physical you could always sell it and make the game better value as it should still have good resale value.
Surely 30 hours of a good game is better than 60 hours of a rubbish game though?
Overrated game,it has its moments, but reviews from 'journalists' are laughable,7 out 10 at best. I want my money back
@ShogunRok Honestly would have been interested to see results for an option “No. I’ll wait for it on Game Pass”
I love Arkane but between my backlog being so long and the reality it will come to Game Pass in a year, likely with something extra to “make it play best on Xbox”, has me waiting.
Man the snark and grump on the site are getting tiring. Video games are awesome and fun enjoy them!
I’ll be getting Deathloop as soon as I finish the two games I’m currently playing.
Waiting for Game Pass release for series X, and that would be the answer even if I had a ps5. Cant beat game pass value, and theres enough games to play right now.
@Enigk considering I have a digital only PS5, reselling us not an option. Besides, I usually don't like to get rid of games I purchase.
The second half of the argument doesn't really apply either because I always make informed purchases and don't buy trash.
I love the Arcane. Just waiting for it to drop in price from “oof. that wasn’t worth it at all” to “that was so worth it!”
I sure did. Love it!
I love Arkane. Enjoyed the entire Dishonored franchise and Prey. But Deathloop isn't for me. Everything I've read about it had me wanting to stay away from it. I love the look of it. But that looping concept and trying to figure out how to kill all the targets in a day doesn't sound appealing to me. That will be too many repeated days for me lol
Zero interest in deathloop as I don't like shooters
I really have no interest in investing on franchises that are gonna leave the platform.
@3MonthBeef I've yet to find out sadly, I took it upon myself to play it on pc because it does at times feel sluggish with a controller. Alas my unwillingness to play on my laptop has made me still not play it.
I think Arkane are the most overrated developer going but I'll probably try Deathloop at some point when it's in a sale like next month.
That first paragraph says it all. Way too hard sell. If I was interested, I'd buy it used since I have no money for M$.
@ATaco If you don't get rid of games then this implies that you may want to play it again which increased its value for money surely. To avoid this in future you should check the length of the game before purchasing to see whether it will be worth it. I always check a games length before I play. My gaming depends on how long I want to ignore the family for.
No PS5 and we will never see the sequal so i probably never will get it. Not because it is a bad game but when ill get a PS5 i will probably play something else.
@Enigk of course, I always check the length of a game before I purchase it. I have How long to beat bookmarked lol and according to that site completion can be reached in about 25.5 hours which is bizarrely short considering Dishonored 2 took around 45 hrs
No I probably won't play it for the simple fact that I'm not dying to play but it looks interesting, and PS5s are still impossible to find anywhere so by the time I get a ps5 this game will be so far out of my mind at that point.
Didn't really enjoy Dishonored so not particularly interested in Deathloop, personally. But then I'm not much of a shooter fan anyways tbh.
@Fiendish-Beaver
Recently bought an XBox Series S so that I don't miss out on any future Arkane or Double Fine games.
Preordered Deathloop so not waiting for Game Pass.
Not getting it not interested !
@Kohaku i wandered what kind of person still blindly buys games from companies so brazenly mis treating and abusing its workers.
Does it make you feel good supporting such behavior?
