The hotly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, originally due out in January 2021, has been delayed again. You may recall the release being moved out of its aforementioned release window into March 2021, before being pushed into the organisation’s following fiscal year, meaning it was due out by 31st March, 2022 at the latest.
Now a new financial report from the French firm confirms that it will deploy some time between 1st April, 2022 and 31st March, 2023. In the franchise’s first Twitter update since June, a message signed by the dev team said that “development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still underway” and that “we’re motivated and inspired by your feedback”.
It continued: “We will update you on our progress in the future and want to thank all of you for your unwavering support and patience.” Obviously, the reception to the initial reveal wasn’t exactly a positive one, but it almost feels like production has gone back to the drawing board here. Don’t expect to be playing this for quite some time.

So Ubisoft will it release without a 50 GB day ome patch or will it be a non Ubisoft quality release this time.
What this tells me is Ubisoft really struggles to make things that aren't either live services or their sandbox stuff.
Skull and Bones has been MIA since 2015 but has to be finished because of the Singapore government, Beyond Good and Evil....god knows, this remake that should not be that hard...
I’d be well up for it if the graphics didn’t look like an early PS3 game like the trailer.
Can devs just not have a release date on anything until the time it's ready?
@MidnightDragonDX I literally just muttered to myself that it was never going to see the light of day...
I'm hoping to be proven wrong though, the original Sands of Time is an incredible game.
I think the dev team has bitten off more than they can chew. That, or there is something wrong behind the scenes.
There is no reason for this to wait until 2023 imo.
By the looks of it - Not even worth a $15 month of Ubisoft+
Just work on getting the FarCry6 DLC out on time.
Still looking forward to it whenever it finally comes out. Sands of Time was great and it's been long enough since I played it that I forgot how to solve pretty much every puzzle so it will be almost like a new game at this point. Take your time and make it worth the wait Ubisoft!
The PS2 game is a favorite but the way the remake was looking... it looked like a PS3 game and we're now on PS5. Hoping that the remake will reach modern graphic levels and keep the same fun gameplay.
As it was as a PS3-esq graphical update... it wasn't enough to get me even considering buying it. It's like they didn't care. After the blowback... it appears maybe they're taking this feedback to heart.
Best of luck to the project.
@BoldAndBrash Im afraid you are going to be right but if you see what praise they get with their games that are a mess who can blame them. Some game breaking bugs and the games.still ger high rates. 😬
@Residentsteven
I loved the SoT trilogy, and I loved PoP 2008. It was a great game, it didn't have to play like SoT, but I get why people didn't like it.
That's a hefty delay from its original date for a remake.
Are they completely redoing the game because of the backlash to the lackluster visuals? Only way to explain why this has been delayed so hard.
Honestly, that was the right call.
The remake looked like a PS3 Remaster.
After what ME and RE franchises offered, the team really needed to rethink the concept
I guess they originally planned to make a higher res rerelease type version of it - then realised a lot of people were expecting a Demon_Soulsesque graphical style remake, and went "Guys... we should probably rethink this..."
Is this going to be another Beyond Good and Evil 2 scenario?
Prince of Persia: Vapors of Time
The art direction on this remake is just bad, it looks like the game and it's people is set in india, not persia.
@BoldAndBrash I cant wait to see how they will butcher Beyond good and Evil. 😬
Good on Ubisoft for delaying it, I'd rather the remake be polished as hell.
