Remember when platform holders used to sign meaningful marketing arrangements? We lived through the entire PlayStation 3 generation, so we recall having to wait for Call of Duty map packs and Grand Theft Auto V expansions. In this era of cross-platform play, however, manufacturers are still desperately trying to cling onto the concept of “exclusive” perks – and Call of Duty: Vanguard’s are a bit embarrassing.
While this is ultimately good news for all potential players of the first-person shooter, regardless of platform, the PlayStation Blog post makes for slightly amusing reading. Did you know, for example, that those who purchase a Battle Pass Bundle for either the new game or Call of Duty: Warzone on PlayStation will get five – count them, five! – additional Tier Skips? “That’s a total of 25 Tier Skips!” a desperate Daniel Noel exclaimed, who’s clearly ruing his role at Activision right now.
But that’s not all, readers – oh no! PS Plus subscribers will get a free in-game bundle, featuring “a new Operator Skin, Weapon Blueprint, and much more”. PlayStation 5 and PS4 players can also look forward to a 25 per cent boost to Weapon XP when playing in parties (seriously!), and “exclusive” monthly Double XP windows that will last for 24 hours at most. And finally, the pièce de résistance: two additional loadout slots.
Two!

It’s like that TV show: Perks and Relegation…
Those perks will shift a few more PS5s I am sure.
You make fun of them but for people who take cod seriously this is quite good
I wasn't going to buy this before but after seeing all of these crazy exclusives we are getting I would be off my rocker not to preorder Vanguard right now!
It is a pretty silly but this is much better than the Modern Warfare situation at least. An entire mode was locked to one console in a cross-play game and that definitely ruffled more than a few feathers I remember. I doubt this will kick up too much of a fuss.
Personally, I’m happy with this situation. Let people choose whatever platform they want to get it on. Better this kind of stuff as exclusives than modes and characters (well, on the latter, I think a lot of people probably forgot Spider-Man was even coming to PlayStation in Avengers by now).
If skipping gameplay is a perk, then you've made a bad game.
Yeah I think this is a case of exclusive content that looks silly to non-fans of CoD, but to the people who love and play every entry yearly this might be of value to them.
@Korgon It was the same in Cold War with the mode: Onslaught. It was locked for all other platforms than PS, until November 1st 2021
I’m sure people at Sony are not dumb. They probably have lots of marketing data that shows this crap works.
That's better then what I was assuming it would be based on the articles headline
I guess if it’s cross play and you have access to both then even little things like this might sway a person.
Dam if you do, dam if you don’t on Push perks.
For die hard call of duty fans those perks are a big help and a really good bonus for just being a playstation player, don't see the problem
For people that have both a ps5 and series X then this will just persuade them to get the ps5 version, so this works
Not a COD fan but I don't really see a problem with this offering.
I don't know what any of this means.
I'm an old dude who hates mp all those screaming kids makes me wanna commit violence upon them, and I find the gameplay extremely repetitive, however even I know that 2 extra slots could turn the tide of repetitive, monotonous, noisy battle😁
@Slippship
You say go away call of duty yet you and the rest of the sheep that hate the game will still buy it and the game will still sell millions. Personally i cant wait till it releases and i breeze through yet another Call Of Duty campaign then leave it behind.
I like call of duty ...single player campaigns , it's the multiplayer that puts me off the games,if they did a campaign game just on its own I'd b all over it
I mean, I have a PS5 so whatever, but I hate this stuff now. It makes me not want to play games sometimes. 3 perks, that's all you need. I still prefer modes like barebones where there are no perks.
The "Much more" part had me a tiny bit curious, at least. They should have just lead with that... "you will get lots of good stuff! We promise!"
@DoctorJohnDisco Hmm, I don't think you are referring to the same 'perks' as the article
For a COD fan on PS5 i can imagine this is pretty damn good to be honest.
To be fair, this is a good thing. If you play on PlayStation, you get a few bonuses but it doesn't completely lock other players out of modes, like Cold War did. This is the most consumer-friendly way of doing marketing deals.
I own a PS5, but I play CoD on PC so I'm very happy that I'm not being forced to buy the PS5 version if I want to play the full game. I don't see a downside to this.
Luckily i wasnt interested in this game but thats funny that is not worth the extra money that they are offering. PASSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
@vapidwolf As another old man just use mute its fantastic. 😁
@gamer_since_83 perhaps I read it incorrectly.
Meh who cares.
@vapidwolf
These days barely anyone uses a mic. And if they do (and are annoying), you can mute them fast, takes 1-2 secs.
I’m 40 myself and do play a lot of BO: Cold War. Only a handful are annoying (like all the idiots sitting there literally singing out loud, and sounding horrible). But muting is so fast and smooth. Probably the fastest muting in a MP game so far.
This whole article is bizarre.. It’s obviously written by someone who doesn’t play Cod. For us who do, these things are nice. They’re certainly nothing you would try to put a negative spin on. But hey, this is the internet after all, I guess. I just think it’s weird to see an article like this on Pushsquare, written by a games journalist.
A shame!
@RamboMike I'm way older than you I'm afraid and I also play COD, and the muting is king not only Ping
