Well, we never saw this one coming. Bandai Namco has announced a brand new Dragon Ball game — but it isn't at all what you'd expect. Titled Dragon Ball: The Breakers, it's an eight-player survival game, where one player steps into the role of an overpowered villain (playable baddies include Cell, Frieza, and Kid Buu at launch), and the other seven players must work together to live through and escape the scenario. Basically, it's Dead by Daylight, only with Dragon Ball characters and what looks like totally over-the-top action.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is hitting PlayStation 4 in 2022, but if you want to get in on this bizarre project beforehand, Bandai Namco says that a closed beta test is "coming soon".
Honestly, we don't know what to think. Is this the most absurd concept for a Dragon Ball game yet? Avoid being absorbed by Cell in the comments section below.

This doesn't look very good.
Unexpected to say the least! What a crazy concept, I hope they have something more mainstream up their sleeves too and this is just a spin off by another team.
At least it's not another anime arena fighter. Credit where it's due for trying something different.
It’s not an arena fighter at least but instead just a bit of a rip off of Dead By Daylight! I genuinely wonder who comes up with this stuff 😂
Just why? The Dragon Ball IP was the last thing I expected to have a survivor-esque game developed for it.
Namco said we have done arena fighters to death. Now let’s give the people a game nobody asked for.
Just absolutely bizarre, but I’m hoping to be able to try that beta, for sure
This would have been better as a clone of City Shrouded in Shadow. Instead it's an odd Dead by Daylight clone 😆
This looks so bad that I absolutely have to play it. Definitely the most bizarre thing I’ve seen in a while
I actually love the goofiness of this. The heart of the original Dragon Ball is 100% goofiness. That said, I don't like asym games haha.
I really like the idea. Let's see how it turns out, though.
It looks a little janky, but it also looks so ridiculous that it could be fun.
Going by that pic I think they repurposed Beyond Good & Evil 2. 😂
OK, they do not look amused. 🤣
Edit: Watched the vid. I feel like this game was initially thought of by a bunch of drunks and the original title was:
"Dragonball: The Cell Saga: 6 Yamchas and a Pig".
Yeah I know his name is Oolong but that's not as good of a title.🤷♂️
Unfortunately it looks terrible. Huge DB fan and I gotta say this looks like a complete miss
Honestly I’ve never really played any asymmetric multiplayer games, but as a big db and anime fan I think this looks awesome! I think the idea is great and it’s not another area brawler. Hopefully they can pull it off because I’ve seen a lot of positive reception to this.
As awesome as it is to finally see Oolong getting some recognition, I don't think this will do well
Ok, yes, a Dragon by Daylight mashup sounds ridiculous when you put it that way, but "a gaggle of underpowered scrubs with no chance of survival pitted against a stupidly-strong sadistic behemoth" is actually a much more faithful gameplay premise to DBZ's storytelling than a 1v1 fighter's ridiculous matchups of "Yamcha goes toe-to-toe with Beerus" or whatever such nonsense.
DBZ is all about impossibly absurd power differentials; it's kind of their thing. "It's over 9000" and all.
Hard pass it looks very stupid.
I applaud them for trying something VERY different than the norm.
Well good for them for trying to leave the arena fighters... But what I'd like to see (not from the Dragonball IP's) is more anime games copying Xenoverse instead of copying Ninja Storm or Dead by Daylight
Meh , you know what , after watching the trailer , im on the fence now. so ill just delete that last comment.
