Development of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is said to be going well according to Paradox Interactive, but who it is actually doing the work we still don't know. Hardware Labs was taken off the project at the beginning of this year and replaced by another team. The game's troubled production is well documented at this point, except according to the publisher, this mystery team "is doing quite well and we are happy with the progress of the project now".
With that said, though, it still seems like the title is a long way off. CFO Alexander Bricca dodged questions about a release date in a Q3 interim report, simply saying "it's quite some time" before a launch date can be discussed. To think the game was originally slated to arrive in 2020, then 2021, and now even a release next year seems unlikely.
As for why Paradox Interactive hasn't shared what developer is now making Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, Bricca said: "We prefer to give the studio a situation where they can focus fully on the game development and not having to address fans reaching out to them. So therefore we have so far not disclosed the name of the studio and we are very happy to keep it that way for still some time."
It sounds like any concrete news or footage is still a long way out then. Have you been looking forward to the game? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

There's no way this thing isn't a train wreck at this point. Which is a shame, because the original was flawed but still great and I was looking forward to a new take.
As much as I'd like to know who the developer is so I can temper expectations, it's probably a smart move to insulate them from the inevitable fan backlash given the controversies so far. We'll find out sooner or later, it's hard to keep these things secret as soon as you need to hire anyone, because prospective employees want to know what they're putting their name to.
With a bit of luck they'll be treating it as a remake - honouring the spirit of Mitsoda and Cluney's narrative and the systems they were working in, but working it all from scratch in Unreal 5, based on experience in ARPGs.
My nightmare scenario is that they've given it to Arcane. They're about as perfect a studio for the expected gameplay as you could get, but it would mean we're never seeing it on PlayStation. With the fact that they found the studio before the MS acquisition, it's a question of whether Paradox and Zenimax were willing to play nicely together.
The 'we're still alive' media post. Used to those from Beyond Good and Evil 2 and many other forms of vapourware
I love how that picture is all "Hey now calm down and come here, this isn't what it looks like"
@themightyant they didn't say anything to media, it's a quote from an investor meeting.
I will believe it when they drop a new trailer with a confirmed date.
