We’ve been seeing Forspoken for some time now, but the PlayStation 5 console exclusive now has a release date: 24th May. A new trailer showcased during The Game Awards reveals a number of new powers and abilities, and some brief snippets of traversal gameplay.
This one’s a looker, make no mistake about it – it’s certainly a different type of fantasy than we’re used to seeing from Square Enix. By the way, if you pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition, you’ll get access to some DLC coming later in 2022, called In Tanta We Trust. Is this on your wishlist?

Still can’t help laughing at that ‘how do you plead’ line delivery.
This one bums me out. I really like the look of combat and navigation, but the dialogue is unbearable.
@nessisonett I didn't see anything wrong with the delivery tbh
Voice acting isn't great, lol. Really not sure how I feel about this game.
I’m really excited for this one and thought the trailer was cool.
@Nepp67 don’t think there was anything wrong with it tbh
I'm still a lil' bit wary of this game, will need to see reviews before I decide on playing it.
That looks great! Hopefully it will turn out well
I’m actually really looking forward to this. So much do that I’m not watching any story reveal trailers like this. Will likely pick it up towards the end of next year.
I think it looks awful. The script sounds like it’s written by a university activist. Laughably bad.
@nessisonett Had the same thought. "Lies! She dies! Yehahahaha!" Alright Skeletor.
Easily my most anticipated game. Hope it turns out as good as it looks.
I don't mind the voice acting that much but I do find it strange that the faces just don't seem to emote.... I know gameplay won't suffer from this and that part definitely looks like it could be a lot of fun, but showing so many faces where the eyes are just big and wide and dead is kinda off-putting?
So it's a full blown isekai made on a high budget. cool cool
The looks visually brilliant, but somehow I struggle to believe it's going to be fun to play, and I can't put a finger on why
pre-ordering today !
Definitely getting this but I wish the faces looked a little better. Guess I'm spoiled by Naughty Dog and others and this studio only has experience with more "anime" characters in Final Fantasy.
This main character is about to join the ranks of the real legends: Bubsy, Awesome Possum, Johnny Gat, whatever the thing in the hat from Balan Wonderworld was.
I pre-ordered it, looking forward to it, even with what seems like clunky dialogue. Just really loved FFXV and I think Luminous has likely made another special game.
My biggest issue is the facial animations are god awful.
The game looks good, and with basically six months until it releases it will be polished. With the talent they have behind this game script wise, I wouldn't be worried about the story.
I fully expect a State of Play for this game or one that Forspoken is heavily featured in.
So the dialogue is still cringe? Hopefully there'll be a Japanese dub, since I won't be able to recognise the cringe as an English speaker.
I don't think this games looks pretty. All Square Enix games these days look like they're made from store assets - the raw visual power is on display but it all looks misfitting and uncanny (the faces in particular). They don't seem to be able to make a cohesive art style.
The game looked good before last night, but last night’s trailer was so hilariously downgraded. Pudddlegate but the whole game.
I was expecting so much more in the graphics department based on the initial trailer. Last nights trailer did not look next gen whatsoever.
I think the main combat in this game will be with the camera. The VA and the main character are terrible. I remember they released a video bragging about the actress playing this character, and it was just bad. Bad writing or bad acting or bad direction or all three. I also feel like the game industry has gone overboard with female characters lately. I get it was male dominated in the past but it's crazy now how many story leads are now female. I guess I don't mind it, it's just a bit weird that they are overly course correcting.
A good tech demo a game doesn't make
Not guilty!
LIES!! SHE DIES! Wtf
All this smack talking and everyone will be saying how they knew it would be a great game.
Locking story content behind a preorder this one dropped of a cliff for me.
That's some Flash Gordon type voice acting right there.
I checked gamestop last Friday online and the release date was mentioned correctly as May 24 2022, but checking back today its been changed to Dec 31 2022 so makes me wonder if there's a delay coming already for this game....hmmmmm
