Guerrilla Games kept things short and simple with its appearance at The Game Awards: a new gameplay trailer for Horizon Forbidden West featuring new areas and even some new costumes and face paints. It doesn't show much that's particularly new, but that's okay when the game is only a few months away from launch. 18th February 2022, in fact.

I'm glad they havent shown too much of this game so far. I'd prefer going in as blind as possible really.
Looks incredible! Can't wait to continue Aloy's journey!
Wow looks great. I really thought she was going to land on one of those flying dinobots and take control of it (Avatar-style). Hope you can do this 😬
I spotted quite a few new creatures there too : Tortoise, Plesiosaurus, Cobra... this game is going to be amazing.
@PegasusActual93 Completely agree with you. TBH, after the state of play for the game I decided I don't need to see anymore, just give me the game!!!
@fR_eeBritney agreed!
I need this!!
Love her new outfits as well.
Glad we have a PS5 for this one even though it's on PS4.
Maaaaaaaan, that combat looks fluid as hell.
Oh man, that looks great.
Was that a grappling hook?
Hopefully more open climbing like BotW
Love the energy glider thing
Can't wait for the story as well!
@mrtennis1990 @fR_eeBritney Day 1 buy if we can ride all of them, including the flying and underwater machines.
Boy this looked bad up against that Hellblade trailer. 🤯
Looks great, I want February to get here NOW! lol
Shame the outfits are so ugly, but I’m guessing they impart skills or bonuses rather than being for cosmetic purposes.
@thefourfoldroot haha yeah, the outfits in the first game looked like she covered herself in glue and rolled around in the garbage. I understand she can’t have Iron-man style outfits but I think they could be way cooler than they are.
I spent ages trying to unlock the Shield Weaver armour in the first game, which looked awesome on the mannequin (???). The disappointment when you equip it and it’s just a shimmer effect over your current outfit 🤣
I’m hoping she’ll find an abandoned military installation in the new game (from the old world) where they have high-tech prototype armour suits that she can unlock and wear.
Looks brilliant, Day One purchase, can't wait.
Why does Aloy looks so old and lil kinda fatty kind old girl???
Apart from that the Game looks brillian!!
@ishaajo840 I don't know what trailer you watched to get that impression
@fR_eeBritney @mrtennis1990 @KidBoruto this was absolutely a tease and they know exactly what they're doing at https://youtu.be/hH4reMi0UXU?t=25, but I draw hope from the fact that they didn't show any machine-riding
I guess I'm in the minority here and while I really enjoyed the first one, for some reason I just don't feel excited about this.
I've got a bad feeling it'll be like the Killzone series as it went on. Solid but nothing really special.
@Ken_Kaniff
I played and got the platinum for both of the first games of horizon and hell blade, however I would rather spend my time in a heavenly looking setting than a hell setting. The first hell blade game really creeped me out.🥺
I still feel that for me though that horizon looks beautiful stunning and full of life where as hell blade is just another trip to hell.🤔😵😵
@harchibald I guess thats where I'm bias with Horizon. I couldn't finish the first game because the dialog scenes were so cringy, and everytime I see a HFW trailer I just think of a Sandals vacation commercial, lol. As far as my comment goes I was just referring to a graphical standpoint. That Hellblade trailer blew me away, and nothing Sony has announced looks that good. I think its more because Sony is still more concerned with trying to still bleed game sales from the PS4 than to pushing the hardware on PS5 and these cross gen titles like HFW and GOW are being held back because of it.
@Ken_Kaniff the Hellblade II trailer sure looked pretty, but it doesn't look like a particularly interesting game, bearing in mind I haven't played the first.
I think regardless of @harchibald's comment on the setting, of the two gameplay trailers, HFW has me more excited to pick up a controller. Hellblade puts me in mind of Ryse with its heavily scripted set-piece battles, because that's the only way I've seen those sorts of narrative-heavy sequences implemented.
I'm happy to take corrections from someone who's played as to what the first game's actually like, and how that compares to the footage we saw last night.
@Ken_Kaniff Hellblade 2 is on UE5 though, and therefore didn’t even enter full production to just a few months ago.
Everything on UE5 will look great, if developed from the ground up for UE5
@Ken_Kaniff in what way? HZD:FW is an early 2022 cross gen open world action RPG game. Hellblade is still without a date, next gen only, linear story driven game. Both very different titles attempting to realise very different goals. Both look amazing and I am personally excited for more of them both. The First Hellblade was a great game and graphically impressive. The point I am making I suppose is HZD and Hellblade are not in the same game space and will be released more than a year apart in all likelihood.
@Ken_Kaniff Then maybe don't look at it from a graphical standpoint and look at it from an artistic standpoint?
@theheadofabroom Fingers crossed they're saving a video just to showcase all of the machine riding.
I'm a huge fan of the 1st game. I 100% that game and just loved it, yes I did find it abit tedious here and there but I loved the world and really enjoyed the story. One thing I hope we get to see more of is old world/this world caves, I really enjoyed finding those caves and exploring and finding cool loot with lore too. I know it's not meant to be tomb raider of the future but I just really enjoyed that aspect of the 1st one. Really looking forward to this.
@solocapers It looks more diverse with way more different machines, backdrops, landscapes cool costumes.
@Valgore I really loved the collectibles with with lore it felt like i was not collecting them just to collect. I dont really care for the Uncharted ones where i just find stuff to waste my time with on a trophy.
@Ken_Kaniff while horizon dialog isn't the best as that was their first open world 3rd person game...it was a good game and the sequel looks phenomenal. just admit you came here to stir up some controversy because your insecure. hellblade got a big downgrade while horizon looks the same as the announcement trailer...don't start now. You say it looks like the commercial like it's a bad thing...it's not in the slightest. it looks beautiful which can't be said about hellblade. the way you talk about sony games makes me think your an xbot because they are coming with hit after hit and you seem like you can't accept the majority thinks this. nothing microsoft has can compete with sony. the microsoft boss said it himself. I know you ain't talking about horizon and gow being held back after seeing this trailer lol.
@ChrisDeku hell even with the decima engine on horzon. it still looks great.
@solocapers did we watch the same thing my guy. that's incredible...maybe you got to look at it at a different time and you'll feel different. that happens to me sometimes
I'm going to be honest I felt like the first game got a little tedious, this one looks the same but hopefully i'm wrong
@PlayStation_Dawg1994 Tedious? How so? I guess it's possible if you were trying to max out all the NG+ gear, but for a first playthrough I found that after starting slow, it escalated to a pleasing crescendo
@middyone 😆🤣 okay guy
@Ken_Kaniff i'm glad you submitted easily and agree .
I feel like if you could fly, they would have shown it already
Hope you can though
@theheadofabroom the story drag way too long, and i lost interest
