A new update for Tales of Arise is available to download now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It's only a small one, but it adds some welcome functionality to Bandai Namco's action RPG. Once you've got the patch installed, you'll be able to transfer save data from the PS4 version of the game to the PS5 version.
This means, for example, that if you're getting a PS5 for Christmas (lucky you!), and you've been playing through Arise on PS4 up until this point, you'll be able to carry over your progress. You will, however, have to upload your save via the PS4 version first, before downloading it through the PS5 version.
What's more, any Trophies that you've earned on PS4 will pop automatically on PS5 when you're transferring your data. Convenient!
The update also adds an option to remove that annoying 'DLC available' message that pops up when you're resting at a camp.
Are you playing through Tales of Arise? Maybe you've been saving it for the holidays? Ignite your sword in the comments section below.

I have 2 trophies left for the platinum and will most likely get them tonight. It’s pretty good!
It would have been nice if Sony actually implemented some sort of system to handle saves between consoles/PC. The workarounds are ridiculous.
@TheCollector316 Interestingly, it’s even worse on Xbox for this one (same process but doesn’t transfer achievements like it does trophies).
Also, they apparently did but not everyone is using it for some reason. You didn’t need to export anything for Ghost of Tsushima.
@TheCollector316 this method of save transfer is pretty much the best way to do it. You can upload your save to the cloud for free so that you can download it on another console.
No need to pay for PS+ for that cloud save functionality, no need to buy a USB to transfer save onto, no need to play one version of the game on the exact same console that you'll play the new version of the game.
@Voltan
That is good to know. I wanted to play Miles Morales PS5 recently. I played the PS4 version a year ago. You would think I could just download the PS5 version and import my save, but no. After trying to figure out why I didn't have access to my save, I learned I had to download the PS4 version as well to export my save then import it from the PS5 version. Dumb.
My goty of 2021
@Voltan So on Xbox the Achievements don't pop from Xbox One to Series X?
@Snake_V5 yeah, apparently they are separate as the game doesn’t support Smart Delivery - and they don’t pop when you transfer a save (according to Bandai Namco website)
Great news. Amazing game, It really was the best jRPG in 2021. And saw it is at a great price now also.
I'm 70 hours in and still enjoying it! Hoping to finish it off before the year ends. Maybe even platinum it. No hope of getting a PS5 this year tho so oh well, I'll just get that dlc message removed 🤣
I Just Platinumed This a Week Ago So I'm Good To Go!
Can you do PS5 to PS4? or is it one way only?
@DrClayman One way only, but why would you be downgrading the game from PS5 to PS4?
Still no fix for the horrible pop in??? How can Bamco think this is acceptable?
I waited until the holiday to start playing the game, hoping a few patches would fix most issues, but nothing has changed...
