Just a few weeks ago, DNF Duel wasn't even on the radar — but through a combination of super cool looking character trailers and the announcement of an open beta, the upcoming fighting game has suddenly garnered a lot of attention. Said open beta is available to download and play right now, on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
It's around 2.7GB in size, and features ten playable characters. However, there are no training or versus modes to try out — online player match is your only option.
The open beta is playable until the 20th December, but will you be levelling up in DNF Duel over the weekend? Start memorising some combos in the comments section below.

Only played a few matches but this is already an insta-buy for me. Beautiful, simple, hard to master, and super fun. Just need that release date now.
I actually couldn’t find it. So I just went straight to King of Fighters Beta.
Just tried it. No training mode and the online doesn’t work at the moment. I played a couple matches against a CPU and kinda hate it so far ☹️
You say it's available to download BUT can't find it anywhere on the UK 🇬🇧 playstation store
@Haiden i found it in EU no problem, just searched DNF. Should be the same store as UK?
I played a little more online. The netcode is great, I’d say it might work even better than Strive (likely because the players’ options are much more limited). I fought some player who was most likely somewhere in Japan (judging by user name) with 300ms ping and 8 rollback frames - which should’ve been unplayable but was actually surprisingly not that bad. That’s amazing.
Unfortunately I’m now also 100% sure this is not the game for me
I think it might make a fantastic “first fighting game” for a lot of people though!
@Voltan got it thanks
i think this game is another attempt at a granblue styled gameplay with a guilty-gear re-skin mix . don't quote me on that though .
Just took this for a spin and got crushed. I must not understand the mechanics because some things I expect in a fighting game, like being able to wake up block or have anti-airs actually, you know, anti-air, weren’t working for me. The game is gorgeous, as expected, and the player match system is needlessly complicated, also as expected. I’ll probably pick this up and spend some time in the tutorials to see if I can figure out why I’m so terrible.
Played a few matches: it feels like even more streamlined than GBFantasy Versus, and that being my Favourite Ark’s game so far, it’s a big plus - very street fighter-ish, easy to pick up, hard to master stuff.
The game now has a new trailer and a “summer 2022” release window: https://youtu.be/gf0ZlqM1yfQ
@Voltan Yep and another ArcSys game exclusive to PS and PC. That is now the 3rd year in a row including Granblue Fantasy Versus and Guilty Gear Strive.
@Master_Shake I’m not too surprised tbh
