Another week, another round of in-game challenges for Assassin's Creed Valhalla through Ubisoft Connect. These tasks have offered up some good rewards in the past, but the weapon available via this week's community challenge is probably the best of the bunch. By taking part, you get a brand new mythical scythe named Eclipse — and it's very, very powerful.
It's also very, very easy to unlock. Said community challenge requires players to kill a grand total of 5 million enemies — a total that was smashed in just a few hours. Eivors all across the world have slaughtered a whopping 31 million foes at the time of writing, and so to unlock the Eclipse scythe, all you need to do is go out into the world of Valhalla and kill at least one enemy. Once you're done, simply claim the challenge in Ubisoft Connect, and the scythe should pop up in your inventory the next time you're in-game.
Again, this thing is well worth grabbing. Its special ability reads: 'Failing to land a Critical Hit increases Critical Chance'. The scythe grants you an additional 10 points of critical chance every time you don't score a critical, which makes it one of the best critical hit making machines in the entire game. Add some critical chance or critical damage runes to it, and you'll be carving through opponents like nobody's business.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla's live service elements aren't to everyone's tastes, but Ubisoft has done a pretty good job of adding new bits and pieces to the game on a regular basis. And going by how many kills the community has racked up today, it's clearly keeping players engaged.
Will you be getting your hands on Eclipse? Never stop swinging in the comments section below.

Never really cared about challenges and stuff as I just wanna enjoy the game but this got my attention now. For how long is it obtainable?
I’ve got this game but not started it yet and probably won’t be for a few months yet. Does anyone know if these challenges expire? Not that I want a overpowered weapon from day 1 but sounds like it’d be fun to mess with. So when I eventually get round to playing this game, will i be able to pick it up?
@gwyntendo you will be able to pick up all the completed challenges in the Ubisoft-Connect-App whenever you want to.
@Reveluv it is allready unlocked for everyone who owns the game. Simply go into the Ubi-connect-app and claim your reward.
@ShogunRok Thanks for letting us know about this. I’ve not touched the game since March last year but this weapon will be handy for when I do eventually go back to it.
@MaccaMUFC No worries, I still play the game regularly and it's always been popular on the site, so I try to post about it if there's anything cool going on.
@Reveluv
I believe the challenges are a week long, maybe more? I've been off the game for about a month, so I can't recall. Just make sure you go in game and get your one enemy kill and your good to claim it.
I also can't remember what happens to the limited weapons after a challenge time period.
They either dissappear, or perhaps get added to the Ubisoft Club rewards but then require your Ubi Points to unlock them. I do believe once you've participated and unlocked it, you can claim it whenever. Not sure if there is a claim time limit, but I've claimed items a couple weeks after the community challenge ended as long as I met the participation requirement before hand.
Perhaps someone else can further clarify this for me.
I'd definitely go for it. The scythe is a fun weapon in Valhalla. I believe the Wrath of the Druids has one with rather boring perks, the store has one, which I did buy against my usual better judgement, but I like it a lot, and then there is this one. It's definitely not a weapon that has many variants as far as I recall.
An additional reminder, the Valhalla festival was extended until January 29th I believe, so if there is anything worthwhile in the festival, this weekend into next week is your time to get it.
I'm going to work on the festival this weekend. I've only participated in the last 3, but they've all been easy to complete and unlock all the rewards within a few hours of game time. I appreciate Ubisoft didn't make them huge time sinks akin to something like Destiny.
@ORO_ERICIUS @Kang81 thanks.
I just started playing the game a week ago. I actually played it in 2020 but sold my copy because I didn't like the pacing and exploration at the beginning.
But I got a new 4k tv for xmas, and Valhalla was 50%off so I bought it digitally, and continued playing where I left off. I kinda like it now, probably going to finish it too hopefully before Forbidden West comes out.
@Reveluv finishing maybe but not platinum in that time I think. Its taking looooong have fun!
@ORO_ERICIUS i set myself a challenge to finish valhalla before elden ring drops through my letterbox but i dont think its going to happen tbh..really enjoying the game and i just nabbed that scythe via ubisoft connect..disgusting decapitation animation..love it..
