If you were disappointed with the DLC for Hitman 3 thus far, then IO Interactive is winning back your favour with the title’s Year Two update. It all gets underway on 20th January, with the Hitman Trilogy launching on the PlayStation 5 and PS4. As you’d imagine, this is a compilation of all three games in the World of Assassination series, giving you an easy way to access all of the maps and modes.
But it doesn’t end there: the Elusive Target Arcade is launching later this month as well. This takes the existing Elusive Target missions that have been added to the title over the years and meshes them together, creating brand new multi-kill objectives for you to work through. While these will be permanent additions to the game, you’ll get one attempt each day to execute your strategy.
Then later in the Spring, the developer will roll out Freelancer mode, which grants you the keys to Agent 47’s safehouse. You’ll be able to customise your home as you see fit, purchasing furniture and decorations to get your own personal look. From the safehouse you’ll be able to take on roguelike-esque contracts, which will see you travelling around the world erasing shady organisations.
The mode will utilise existing locations from the game, but you’ll be working across different maps to gather intelligence and purchase gear. Any items you leave behind will be lost forever, so you’re going to really need to think about what you bring with you and when. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to come up with your strategies back at your safehouse.
This will all be rounded out by a new map later in the year codenamed Rocky, and while there’s no specific mention of where this will be set yet, a few brief scenes taken from IO Interactive’s reveal video show a beach-like environment at night time under the shadow of a storm. This is, frankly, terrific support for one of the best stealth games ever made – we can’t wait to step into Agent 47’s perfectly shined shoes again.

Game of the Year 2021 is also Game of the Year 2022! Who'd have thought!?
Fantastic updates. Freelancer mode sound great. And Elusive Arcade sound fun too. Always good to see more content to an already incredible game. Super excited!
Yeah I love the sound of Freelancer mode!
@get2sammyb You're starting to sound like SkillUp with Outer Wilds. He gave it GOTY in both 2020 & 2021 (for the DLC)
Need to give Hitman a proper go at some point. Keeps passing me by. Too many good games, not enough time.
Got hitman 3 physical last week in the sales then went and got hitman 2 for £9 quid on the store that automatically imports hitman 1 and 2 levels in to hitman 3. Only completed the first mission on hitman 1 but its a great old romp.
Entire trilogy goes on GamePass next week.
I really like that IO is bundling the trilogy together. I played the first game a whole bunch a few years ago but never got around to 2 & 3.
Know I shouldn’t say this here but for those with both systems, this will also be on GamePass on release.
I have 2 of the games but welcome all 3 on game pass , a little.push of these games to the front of the game log I think
A little disappointed they seem to now only be talking about ray tracing for PC. I could have sworn last year they said it was coming for consoles too. Really makes me wish cross platform progression was in place. It can't be that hard for them to do when it's all always online and linked to their servers. PCVR looks another level, but I don't want to have to start over again.
Wanted to add that one of the reasons I’m excited about this is the download strategy iO has been using within their games (on all systems) has been an absolute mess. So hopefully this package resolves that.
@awp69 i got really confused when i got hitman 3 tryingvto import hitman 2 and 1 in to it. I ended up following a guide so i didnt mess it all up.
PSVR2 support, please.
So I don't have Hitman 3 yet, so not sure what this is. Is the Hitman Trilogy a new remastered game? Or are these additions to the main game with no charge? Is the season pass included or separate charge? PSN mentions a separate "access pass" but the deluxe version of the game does not list it as included. Or does the deluxe version include "everything"?
Just curious..I keep thinking I really need to get this game! Interested to know what I need to purchase to get "everything"
So is it basically a merge of the 3 current games in one? I think the game already did that, I don't have hitman 3 yet tho
Cant watch the video at the moment.
Did it break down whats paid for and whats free?
Map will obviously be paid but did they mention if the elusive target remix and the rougue modes were free or not?
@frankmcma Hitman 1&2 can be played in Hitman 3 with graphical and gameplay improvements, but you have to own 1&2 already. So this is a simplification of buying the trilogy instead of it being multiple purchases.
@awp69 Despite what many would want you to believe citing the holy texts is actually not forbidden on push square.
More Trophies please. I can't muster up the strength to play games anymore unless it involves TROOPHING.
I just bought hitman 3 after holding out hoping for a trilogy release
Why? You can already download the first two into 3
Lovely. Great to have a way to revisit Elusive Targets. And I can hardly wait to play around with that Freelancer mode. I'm excited to get back into Hitman again.
Epic update, might finally play the Trilogy this year!
@Deadlyblack It's the same situation with me, played the first part and I own now on my account, but the game is the PS4 edition. What do you think which price will for this trilogy for PS5 edition, I suppose $69, €69, etc.?!
@themightyant I thought exactly the same thing lol
Though to be honest I don't blame good old Ralph since Outer Wilds is the absolute G.O.A.T. and nothing even comes close.
Edit: oh and I definitely recommend Hitman if you find the time, I've only played the first one so far but it's amazing.
@get2sammyb On this topic, did any of you at PS HQ ever review the DLC?
@clvr It wasn't a criticism
Outer Wilds ❤️
@themightyant ah don't worry, it didn't come across as such, I just took the chance to gush about Outer Wilds some more lol
I just finished the DLC a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it ahahahah
@clvr No not the Seven Deadly Sins stuff. It just didn't seem worth it. I'll definitely take a look at some of this stuff, though.
@clvr looking forward to it! Been thinking of buying it all and starting again on PS5. I originally played on Xbox via Game Pass when it was still a relative unknown. Utterly brilliant.
@themightyant yeah, the only real flaw it has is that I cannot experience it with fresh eyes for a second time lol
But if you haven't played the DLC I cannot recommend it enough!
Just be warmed that it's spooooky ahahhaha
No but seriously, it gave me the single biggest fright I've ever experienced in a game! Utterly brilliant stuff!
What I would give to be able to re-experience it for the first time!
@get2sammyb no I meant Echoes Of The Eye, Outer Wilds' DLC
@clvr Ohhh, sorry! It's unlikely to be honest!
@get2sammyb ahahah don't worry! I see, I thought so at this point! Thanks and have a good night 😃
Yep. After the announcement of the Freelancer mode I just had to get Hitman 3 at the current PS Store sale.
