Insomniac Games is staffing up as work intensifies on the hotly anticipated PlayStation 5 sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And in an exciting move, the Burbank studio has recruited Brittney M. Morris, the writer of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ prequel novel, Wings of Fury. This was a very well received book which launched alongside the game in 2020.
“Miles has a lot going on. He’s moved across Marvel’s New York to East Harlem, an unfamiliar neighbourhood, is coming to terms with the loss of his father, and there’s the small matter of being bitten by a genetically modified spider and gaining superpowers,” the blurb teases. “After a mix-up with the law whilst trying to stop a robbery, Miles questions what it means to be a hero when people are ready to believe the worst in you.”
Morris’ familiarity with Insomniac Games’ take on the Spider-Man universe, as well as its characters, will make her a great addition to the team. This is undoubtedly the biggest game in production for the PS5 right now, so we can’t wait to learn more about the project throughout the course of the year.

She also worked on Subnautica: Below Zero, apparently. I haven't played it but I hear it's rather good.
That's nice and all, but if the swinging isn't improved and still physicsless while a game like FREAKING Fortnite can make swinging mechanics work with at least some physics and momentum then I'm just not gonna put down 60 bucks for it.
Sorry to say, but it was just toothless. The main mechanic of the game, toothless. Boring after a few hours. Can literally hold your phone in one hand, controller in the other and swing through deadly heights through NYC without any risk. Absolutely mental. Yes, this remains the hill I'll die on. It can be better and it needs to be better
Awesome news. Absolutely loved the first game.
@BoldAndBrash Are you talking about insomniac spider-man?
I think the swinging feels great in that game. shrugs
@BoldAndBrash ?? Insomniac’s swinging mechanics is way better than Fortnite’s. What are you going on about?
@BoldAndBrash you’re insane for what you’ve just posted. Go eat a snickers you silly boy
@BoldAndBrash i mean hey by all means don't buy the game if you don't like it but the swinging is infinitely better than any Spider-Man game before it so please check yourself go back and play Spider-Man 2 it's a lot better in your memories ill tell you that. the swing in tasm 1&2 also sucks compared to insom's Spidey game and finally as for web of shadows that's another game with subpar web-swinging so again I implore you go try these games before you slander this game. i didnt include shattered dimensions and the 2 spiderman games on ps1 because the web swinging isnt a big enough part in the game as well as the web swinging kinda sucked in all 3 games
Did anyone spot the combat move from Spider-Man on playstation that made it into the film as per what Tom Holland said?
@BoldAndBrash it's more of a small mound than a hill.
@Jacko11 @danzoEX @FixMadden22
Not saying I agree with @BoldAndBrash, but I will say this-
The swinging in Insomniac's Spiderman is so easy, my 4 year old daughter likes to have a turn and she can quite happily swing around New York with ease
I think @BoldAndBrash might be after more of a Dark Souls-style swinging experience, where it takes more than just puching the left stick forward and holding down a button, and if you choose to swing into the side a building full pelt, you get to face the consequences
At the end of the day, Insomniac's swinging mechanics were built to be easy and fun, not to be particularly challenging or realistic, and some people are within their rights to want more realism
@Royalblues Spider-Pig rulz!
I like how she calls it SpiderManPS5.
Let’s go new gen 👍
I kinda agree with the fornite swinging being better, at least in how fun it is to do as you actually have to aim your webs. Its a bit janky though, Insomniacs is much smoother.
Ideally there'd be an easy option like the first game and a harder manual mode where you had to aim your webs. Its incredibly fun in fortnite and just the right level of difficulty for me.
@danlk1ng
Common sense. Thank you
@Jacko11
I'll just state that the most fun games always have a learning curve. They're easy and fun to pick up, but a challenge to master. This will lead you to actually become good at the game.
Pull of crazier manoeuvres that you wouldn't have been able to do when playing for the first time. In SM there's literally no difference between endgame and the start of it. No momentum building, no risk, no reward, no physics. Swinging, wallrunning are autopilot and pulling of crazy stunts like you could on hardware 3 generations ago, forget it. Takes zero skill. That is a fact.
All I ask is for them to make it more exciting. Falling 10 blocks in Minecraft is more exciting for crying out loud. How's that possible
Exciting news, this game is gonna be lit.
