Update: Assassin's Creed Valhalla update 1.042 (as it's numbered on PS5) is available to download now. It's a smaller 2.5GB on Sony's current-gen system.
Original Story: Assassin's Creed Valhalla is getting another title update tomorrow (that's the 1st February at the time of writing). However, patch 1.4.2 doesn't actually have much to it. It's going to be a relatively small download on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, weighing in at around 3GB, and apparently, it's just going to fix an issue with missing HD textures.
We're so used to Valhalla's updates bringing significant changes that these tiny patch notes almost look unfinished — but it shouldn't be long until we get something much bigger. Indeed, Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok is still set to release on the 10th March, and so Ubisoft's studios will be gearing up for the big day. We'd bet on another update hitting at some point in February.
Are you still playing Valhalla? Are you looking forward to Ragnarok? Prepare for the end in the comments section below.

Whilst I’m looking forward to Dawn of Ragnarok, I can’t help feeling I’ll be too busy playing Dying Light 2, Horizon Forbidden West and GT7!
The Dawn of Ragnarok? Valhalla? No thank you. I ll pass, hard pass. When Ubi considers to develop again a grounded and stealth AC game, free of magical powers and nonsense RPG elements AND the narrative/lore meaningfully evolve with the other games, then I will consider it.
I like to dip in and out of Valhalla every few weeks to work my way through the story. Breaking it up into arcs is wonderful for episodic gameplay sessions. It fits nicely into my time between other games as a cleanser.
AC Valhalla has really become my go to game of late. I just wrapped up the Ireland DLC, which was like taking a break from the main game to play a much smaller version of it. I expect the usual suspects to pop up in the comments to tell me why I should hate Ubisoft and modern AC games, but I can’t help it - I still find them worth playing.
@Amnesiac ofc they're worth playing, the internet is full of ubisoft haters since they need a place to scream ubi$h!t, dawn of ragnarok will sell millions and they will still say the same thing
@The_Rhodian_Misthios Yeah because the original games were so grounded what with the Isu, Apple of Eden, Adam and Eve, 2012 extinction event, first civilisation, the Animus and all that.
The series was never grounded and was always deep in fantasy and Sci-Fi. The latest Trilogy has basically just made it the various Myth's of the world were Isu what we mistook as Gods.
I swear the people what complain about this stuff never played the series.
@Amnesiac I've put nearly 300 hours into Valhalla, Odyssey and Unity are still my favourite AC games but Valhalla is easily my most played and a game i happily check in each day for the daily missions.
@Amnesiac I love playing Valhalla, I coudnt get into previous ac games. But since playing origins-I’m hooked on them. If you enjoy them, they represent fantastic value with all the dlc/content you get with the games
I've got about 70 hours in Valhalla. I'm truly shocked how much this one appeals to me compared to Origins and Odyssey. I still wouldn't put it in my favorites personally but I'm enjoying it.
Though waiting for march 10th ragnarok campaign, it would be good for some more tomb openings. Last was fun though
Still waiting on this origins patch
@weR1youR2Podcast my only problem doing this is forgetting the controls, or even worse...getting them mixed up with other games I’m playing 🤣
@Nightcrawler71 Oh definitely! I cannot tell you how many times I mashed buttons trying to remember how to dodge three months later lol
Still the best looking game I've played yet on my PS5. It looks fantastic with no HUD. Super smooth, too.
@The_Rhodian_Misthios The final boss of AC1 was a superpowered old man using a magical ball..
I liked the 1st 2 assassins creed games but then i lost interest in them..my next foray into the series was odyssey because of the greek mythology and i loved it (2nd platinum game) which in turn prompted me to purchase origins..both of these were a breath of fresh air for me as being a big skyrim fan i always felt it needed the climbing and fluid combat that assassins creed brought to the table so these 2 games were just exactly what i always wanted from an action based rpg-lite game..valhalla is just simply superb..
I bought this and was disgusted at the sound quality. Really tinny no crunch on impacts etc. has it been fixed in any of these updates?
@WallyWest They had a grounded TONE you dummy.
@The_Rhodian_Misthios
If I remember correctly, Assassins Creed 2 ended with you kicking seven bells of sh1te out of The Pope!!
Grounded in reality.

Still waiting for Syndicate patch for PS5...
@skaarj217 Unity needs it more
@Bismarck Not really, once the Apple of Eden appeared and a video of Adam and Eve all pretense of grounded was gone. Come on you think the Isu were grounded?
@stefan771 Syndicate is unplayable on PS5 so much its delisted on the PS5 store, Unity plays just as well as a fully patched PS4 version.
It's quite refreshing to see the majority of comments being positive for an Assassin's Creed/Ubisoft article.
