Remember those optional challenges Horizon Zero Dawn had spread throughout its map? Horizon Forbidden West has them too. The latest trailer out of Guerrilla Games takes a deep dive into the sort of activities you can expect, as well as sharing a sneak peek at the upgrades you'll be rewarded with for completing them. Melee pits, hunting grounds, salvage contracts, and the all-new arena are all detailed.
It looks like Horizon Forbidden West will be packed full of entertaining things to see and do off the beaten path, offering an alternative to the main story. The game launches for PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 18th February 2022, but we will have a comprehensive review for you to read before then.

Looks great. I'm so tempted but am planning to do some work on my backlog, and maybe pick this up at a discount this summer or fall.

Nice to see Hunting Grounds and Cauldrons returning.
On the last couple of chapters of zero dawn now so should get that done tonight. Will be getting HFW for my birthday on 22nd. Not looking at any more footage now lol.
I've just finished the first game again in preparation for this. That ending where Aloy visits Elisabet at her family home is beautiful. Now on to the Frozen Wilds.

@Fyz306903 I have played it before and that time I started it right after visiting the Grave Hoard. I believe that's the best time to do it.

So pumped for this. Absolutely cannot wait. First I need to beat Returnal, in which I've just beaten the third Boss (on my first go to!) though it took many deaths to reach that point, so I'm not sure how long it'll take to finish the game. I also have Dying Light 2 pre-ordered, but I won't be touching that before HFW. Seriously looking forward to diving back into Aloy's armour (though here's hoping that what she wears doesn't make her look like an absolute chump this time round)...
Is there more than one ending, @ApostateMage? If there is, what cam you do differently in game in order to change things up?
@ApostateMage i am enjoying it alot but i think id have enjoyed it more if i wasnt trying to get through it fast so i can get frozen wild done ready for FW

Ugh... I'm very tempted to watch this, but on the other hand, I want to keep everything as fresh and new as possible. -_- The struggle!
@Fiendish-Beaver I think there's only the one ending but there is different dialogue with characters at times depending on what quests you do before others.

It’s so difficult for me to get into the previous game when they handle the difficulty settings the way they do, with no incentive to actually play the game at a challenge. It sucks, I feel like I’d get more enjoyment out of watching the YouTube condensed version but the game itself seems pretty decent, and I would be excited to see the improvements made
