It's Wednesday, so you know what that (generally) means: a new PlayStation Store sale. This week marks the return of the Critics' Choice range, available on the digital storefront until midnight on 16th February 2022. The sale is live right now across the UK, EU, and US stores, so let's take a look at what's on offer.
On PS5, you can pick up Kena: Bridge of Spirits for £23.09/$27.99, Lost Judgment is £29.99/$35.99, and Death's Door has already dropped in price to £11.99/$14.99. Diablo 2: Resurrected comes in at £26.24/$29.99, Hades is yours for £14.99/$18.74, The Medium is discounted to £29.24/$32.49, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is £35.99/$35.99.
The usual first-party suspects are back on sale yet again, but you'll screw your nose up at the prices as usual. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is £52.49/$49.69, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales swings in at £33.49/$29.99, and Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is a lovely £52.49/$49.69. Moving on.
It's on PS4 where you can get a lot more bang for your buck. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice parries its way to a price of £29.99/$29.99, Red Dead Redemption 2 is £21.99/$23.99, and the full Spyro Reignited Trilogy can be copped for £12.24/$13.99. The excellent Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition is just £4.63/$5.99, XCOM 2 is a bargain at £4.49/$5.99, Insurgency: Sandstorm drops to £26.24/$29.99, and Carrion is £9.59/$11.99. JRPG fans can also look out for all almost all Trails of Cold Steel games on sale as well as Ys IX: Monstrum Nox.

Is the PS5 discounted as well?
£7.98 for xcom 2 and war of the chosen expansion. Bargain!!
Snagged Witcher 3 for a fiver if it’s not my thing; no loss. As I wait for the PS5 upgrade
Death’s Door for twelve quid? That’s a bargain that shouldn’t be slept on! At just fifteen pounds, same goes for Hades. Two spectacular indies right there!
Carrion is well worth picking up. I loved it on GP
If you're waiting for Sekiro to go any lower, then I'd suggest you just bite the bullet and buy it now.
Fantastic game, rarely discounted and never below £30.
Is the Ghost Of Tsushima add on for PS4 on sale? Can't log onto the store for some reason to check.
Hollow Knight for £4.63. If anyone even vaguely interested hasn't played it yet that is a STEAL! So good I bought it twice... or was it thrice.
Im grabbing Deaths Door for that price,
Can’t see Returnal for the usual £51.99 price. How can this game not be £20-30 by now?
@Kopite yes it is
@Luigia
Picked this up physically in CEX for £48, and will return if when finished for £32.
£16 final price is about right for me. Will take a long, long time to get down to that price digitally in sales.
Just picked up a few things. Dark Pictures Collection, Darkwood and Grim Fandango Remastered.
I see Kingdom Come: Deliverance is quite cheap. Perhaps I will try that out. Apparently it has some really good side quests.
@thefourfoldroot great price and this is why I love physical games, as when you’ve finished you can use the value for new experience.
Oooooh Kena: Bridge of Spirits!
@MrGilly69 much appreciated my dude ✌🏻
@thefourfoldroot So to summarise you gave £0 to Sony/Housemarque and £16 to CEX, a company that scalps PS5s for £700.
Are you also, by any chance, one of the people complaining about Sony making live service games and not enough single player games?
Does anyone know if you buy FF7 Remake in the sale, do you automatically get the PS5 version as a free upgrade? Or... Do you need to buy the full Intergraded version.
@Stuball12 If you buy the PS4 version you can upgrade for free, but you need to buy the DLC separately. The PS5 version you can buy includes the DLC.
@ChrisDeku it's a physical game, relax. The whole point of physical games for some people is that you can re-sell it. There's no need to get on such a high horse about it
@ChrisDeku
Yes, that is completely correct. I have no guilt about using used game sellers, private or commercial. If Sony would do the right thing and allow trade back on digital licences maybe they could get a part of that pie, but they don’t.
Also, you are right that I don’t like games as a service personally, and that I disagree with the business model that can often (but not always) result, which is often exploitative as well as damaging to gameplay.
@colonelkilgore That’s a great haul! 👌
@colonelkilgore is the entire anthology on it or just a couple of the games?
@MightyDemon82 it was all three that have been released so far for £30.
@PaperAlien I'm about 5-6 hrs in and its a joy, hope you dig it!
@Iver yeah, that’s probably the main reason that I hadn’t picked them prior to now actually. Games like that fit really nice in between more demanding games though I find… also, I quite like the idea of the missus and I playing through one of them for Halloween or something.
Think I'll be picking up Death's Door and the Ghost of Tsushima upgrade.
Death's Door snagged immediately. Sekiro would follow but no way I'm fitting that in between now and the end of March. There'll be another time.
Any idea why I can’t view the titles on my PS4 ? I open the sale but then can’t scroll or move anything can only see first few titles at top ?
@ChrisDeku Good point. If it makes you feel any better, as VG streaming and PS's gamepass equivalent becomes more of a thing, physical sales and the used game market will be rendered irrelevant.
<searches for the link for Canadian readers>
Sigh.
Had a notification from the app this morning about Kena Bridge of Spirits being on sale, I guess the app does that if you put the game on your wishlist or something. I have the rest of the year out for gaming so while I do want to play Kena it will probably be in PS+ by then.
I've been eyeing up deaths door for a couple weeks now. Great time to bite.
Just lost a fiver on that Witcher crap 🥴
Deaths door snagged. Does anyone know if it’s got separate platinums for the PS4 PS5 versions? Kraken is fantastic it’s like 900Mb on PS5 and 3.8GB on PS4
Castlevania Requiem is down to £3.99
I finish Ghost of Tsuchima Director Cut on PS5 with Platinum, also I just bought Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy for PS5 & Sekiro for PS5... Just wait for HFW and Elden Ring and that's enough for this month by me...
@Futureshark Is it fast like bloodborne? that was my favourite
@Tsushima
Well Bloodborne is a classic and Sekiro is pretty fast too.
It's also 60fps on PS5 which is nice, but it has some very hard bosses.
Combat is more about breaking enemies posture by deflecting their attacks. You stick with your trusty Katana sword the whole game but you learn skills etc to improve yourself.
If you like the Souls games then you will like Sekiro, it's a little different but very good.
Hard though.
I picked up Grip for $7... down from $50.
I bought Wasteland 3 - Colorado Collection for a very good price. The cheapest it's ever been.
@ChrisDeku excellent argument, which, of course, won't convince most people who only care about themselves. They would, no doubt, feel differently if they made a product and didn't get any revenue because of people like themselves.
I used to buy second hand games all the time until I read what you're saying online (about 8 years ago).
