If you've gotten caught up in all the excitement of Cyberpunk 2077 launching on PlayStation 5 today but you do not own the game just yet, look no further than the new PS5, PS4 trial available on the PS Store. You'll need to button through to the game's store page on either console, selectable below the option to buy it. Alternatively, you can trigger a download through the web store.
This free trial will be available to download and play until 15th March 2022, and grants you access to Night City for five hours. You can do absolutely anything in that time β progress through the main quest, pick up a couple of side gigs, or just roam the open world. It's not a traditional demo where you can only play a certain sequence; the world's your oyster in the Cyberpunk 2077 free trial.
If you like what you see, you can buy the game at a 50 per cent discount, bringing the price down to Β£19.99/$24.99. That offer sticks around until 2nd March 2022. Your save will carry over to the full version if you decide to purchase it, meaning no progress is lost.
The PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is available now, and you can check out the lengthy list of patch notes through here. Pre-existing owners can work out how to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 through the link.

That's great, I'll certainly be downloading.
Crap, I went out and a disc copy of the ps4 version this evening which cost, β¬3 euro more than if I buy it on the PS store, I didn't see the new deal on the store!
Is this 1 of those "5 hour trials" where the 5 hours starts when you start downloading it and I'll have about 3 minutes left when it's ready to play or does the time only start when I start playing?
Also, is it 5 hours w/ stop and saving or do they expect me to set aside 5 straight hours, 3 minutes I can do, w/o eating or bathroom breaks?
Free trial on the US store.

Edit: From the other article: "The trial duration begins from the moment that you trigger the download or add it to your library"
Wait what the what? I just added the game to my library FROM THE WEBSITE. Does that mean my 5 hrs will be up before I even start the download?!?! What kind of imbecile would even come up.with an idea that stupid - "Add the 5 hour game trial to your PS5 on our website while you're away from home so the 5 hours can already be expired before you even get home." I mean who would implement such a stupid system?!?π΅
Hmmmmmmmm

Makes sense - many were rightly angry about and/or put off from buying this so a free 5hr trial makes a lot of sense to let people try it and decide if they have now done enough to warrant purchasing...
When I get round to it, I'll jump back in but with Horizon: Forbidden West coming, it maybe a while...
@Pditty1980 the deal went live at the same time as the new update, wasnβt there 2h ago
@BAMozzy "it maybe a while..."
I know you can read just fine and I mean no offense but just in case you missed it in the article:
"This free trial will be available to download and play until 15th March 2022"
@Voltan
I'm only joking, I like to have the physical copy and the β¬3 difference won't break my bank account!
Anyone having bother with the trial? It's just greyed out for me for the 'download to console' bit.
Wondering if it's because I bought originally and got the refund?.
Ah I like the sound of that. I'll download it when I get home tonight.
@rjejr I have NO interest in the 5hr trial when I own the full game on Disc so it will be a While before I decide to 'try' the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 because I'll be playing Horizon: Forbidden West instead of 'trying' the PS5 Cybrerpunk 2077.
I thought the 'Jump back in [to Cyberpunk...]' would indicate that I wasn't planning on using the 'trial'....
@BAMozzy
I'm shocked. It STILL looks cack.
I only have a regular old PS4, but I will likely try it anyway.
The trial is only for PS5 not PS4
@NinjaSixx they will have , I would've tried it to see what all the hype was about but there's no trial for PS4 users
Very generous in this time of need, I will take up this offer when I'm home bound recovering from my surgery it's something to do, I don't know how well the game runs on the PS4 pro tho
@huyi it's only for PS5 not PS4
@rjejr always the fine print that gets ya lol. Thanks for the heads up.
@rjejr
Any update on this? Added the trial and downloaded it remotely via my phone while at work - will it have expired when I get home?! π
Correct your news,,it's not available on ps4 the trial...
@Would_you_kindly Crap, never mind then I guess. I only gots a PS4.
Now of course, because i added the demo to my library, even though it's undownloadable.. the ps4 game itself, which is 50% off, is off my wishlist and i cant reselect it to add it again or buy it on cell phone ps app.
Way to go Ps store, always a mess..
I already own the game on disc, but good news for those who were still hesitant about buying.
@rjejr @fingalf Were you guys able to play the game at all or had the 5 hours expired before you even got to start? My download's only half done so I want to know whether to just cancel it!
Downloaded it this morning and started it up this evening.
Upon booting up it started a timer saying 5:00, the length of the trial, right from when you start playing.
Just like it should be.
The idea that it would start as soon as you started downloading is ridiculous and people should think harder before passing on that information if they canβt confirm it.
@kunimatsu Thanks for the info. Just FYI - there have been previous trials where the timer started as soon as you started the download so don't underestimate Sony's stupidity! https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2021/10/sony-introduces-game-trials-try-ps5-games-for-a-limited-time
The trial is not for PS4. Get your facts straight!
@Would_you_kindly why is the article menting PS4 then? Stupid π
@huyi I don't know guess whoever wrote it thought it was for both consoles π€·ββοΈ
