Imagine reading Harry Potter as a child and then working on an original story in the series. That’s the reality for a lot of people at Avalanche, who are quite literally bringing dreams to life with Hogwarts Legacy. This author played and loved titles like Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on the PS1, but always dreamed of something more than a mere movie tie-in. This is that game.
The passion pours out of this behind-the-scenes, then. In it, some of the key creators from the development team talk about their approach to building Hogwarts, including how they designed areas that are only described in the books. The art direction, as is evident from the gameplay reveal, is top-notch – huge credit to the entire team for that.
The video’s only about six minutes long but it offers decent insight into the creative process, and it is of course interspersed with gameplay clips and footage from the big reveal – as well as tons of concept art, too. Remember you can watch the full reveal through here, with more to follow in the coming weeks and months.

Sammy, I loved the Philosopher's Stone on PS1 too! Chamber of Secrets was also a game I loved! They aged really poorly but I still enjoy them a lot lol
This game seems amazing and done by people that understand the franchise!
You can definitely feel the passion from the environmental artists. Some truly memorizing stuff here. Looking forward to it this Fall!
I just watched the full gameplay trailer with my girlfriend, this looks like the Harry Potter game we always wanted, it looks so good.
I played a TON of the three player co-op Goblet of Fire with my friends as a kid so I'm looking forward to this.
Guaranteed purchase from me
wow ! this looks stunning, full of things to do with so many aspects, as a harry potter fan i was not even expecting that much. i'm thrilled !
Looked amazing, honestly I was sceptical and as long as they don't drop a real grind in there and try to nickle and dime us with with mt's we're good.
I watched the first two movies, and although decent, found them to be very youth oriented...and I mean small children youth. I wasn't that impressed at the time.
It wasn't until I was in a judge's chambers negotiating a plea deal that my Harry Potter interest was piqued again. As I sat in discussions on the criminal outcome for my client, Amazon's Day One Delivery of Order of the Phoenix was delivered to the judge! I literally laughed out loud (highly unrecommended when negotiating an individual's freedom). After the ensuing Harry Potter discussion, I agreed to overlook the first two movies and give the books a go (there may have been a bit in there about 6 months probationary period with no jail time...it's been a few years...).
I started on book 5, thinking the first two movies would give me enough background to parse everything else together. I was wrong. I finished book five and instantly bought Sorcerer's Stone (American's know what Philosophers are...but whatever) through Goblet of Fire. Loved the series...and the movies actually got really good starting with Prisoner of Azkaban!
It's much better than I expected!! I want this game!!
I was still a lil' bit unsure after the gameplay segment, but then I saw how passionate and lovely the devs are about the game and the Wizarding World.
Pre-order/day one buy without a doubt, even if I have to skip a bill or two.
As a massive fan of Harry Potter and the wizarding world in general, reading all the books, owning all the audio books (read by the extremely talented Stephen Fry) and watching all of the films (ranging from great to ok but still not a patch on the books) im looking forward to this so much more than any other game this year. It will be a day 1 without doubt. I hope they offer a collectors edition.
