Sifu has surpassed 1 million sales, says developer SloClap. The kung fu-based action title released just over a month ago on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store. A physical version of the game is due to release on the 3rd May 2022.
It's a big win for the Parisian studio, which says it's "thrilled by the reception of Sifu from both fans and press alike".
SloClap has also shared the following player stats:
- Over 10 million hours have been played
- More than 45 per cent of players have completed the challenging second level of the game
- Over 150,000 players have already mastered kung fu enough to beat Yang, the game’s main antagonist
As for the future of Sifu, CloClap has promised a "major update" in early May. It seems likely that this update will include new difficulty and accessibility options, which were outed by SloClap co-founder Pierre Tarno in an interview last month.

That’s very impressive considering the pandemic still eats into consumers’ spending cash and the other fantastic games released this month alongside Sifu. I’m excited to get my hands on it but I feel like it’ll be a Plus game eventually.
That's extremely impressive in a period of time that saw a new Pokemon game, Dying Light 2, Horizon: Forbidden West, AND Elden Ring.
Great decision moving up the release date. Probably saved hundreds of thousands of potential sales lost between HFW and Elden Ring.
Sifu was really lucky. Gamers were looking for something new to play, and Sifu was released a few weeks before a whole slew of big name games came out (Horizon FW, Elden Ring, Grid Legends, Gran Turismo, Destiny 2 Witch Queen, King of Fighters XV, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires). Sifu got a big jump on the competition. Kinda reminds me of the action/disaster movie craze of the mid-to-late ‘90s:
—Dante’s Peak came out before Volcano, and DP made all the sales;
—Deep Impact came out before Armageddon and made a heck of a lot more $ than it would’ve if Armageddon had come first;
—Twister blew away Daylight because it came out first
Well deserved. It was an awesome game. Congrats Sloclap!
Congrats to SloClap. I wonder if they will release a native PS5 version. Though I'm not sure how much more enhanced it could get since they did a great job optimizing the PS4 version to take advantage of PS5.
Slow clap for SloClap
👏😐
I'll be grabbing my copy soon.
Cool to hear! I actually just purchased this yesterday for the hell of it. And MAN, it is tough! I thought Returnal was difficult, but this is another level. But its a tok of fun and a game I will probably only play an hour at a time.
This game deserves the attention it's got. It's incredible, it nails so much; style, gameplay mechanics, pacing and more.
I think on first play it seems very difficult, but it can be overcome and it's very rewarding improving and progressing.
I don't think it's popularity or success is down to the timing of it's release, it's been well received and it had been in my wishlist for a long time. It's, at least on release, been a popular streaming game too as it's entertaining to watch too.
how and why? who enjoys this cheap crap?
My friend is getting me the physical edition for my birthday. I got him Elden Ring so as you can see we are gluttons for punishment lol
Well done to SloClap and hopefully SIFU can pass more sales milestones for them
Excellent news. Got my platinum after 44 hours or so. Will dip back into it with future patches and content
@Waffles12415 you will get there once you learn enemy placement etc. A little tip. Dont rely on the counter too much. Its too hard to nail risk vs reward wise. Concerntrate on dodging (L1 and direction) its alot easier. I did the 1st lvl at age 60 something first few tries but now i can do it without dying and using no short cuts. You will get there.
@huyi Do you have something against indie games? Or is it the art/animation style?
