Developer Sloclap recently released the brilliant but brutal Sifu, and has of course been patching it all up since launch. The latest update, 1.07, is out now on PC, but the studio says it'll be coming to PlayStation platforms on Monday, 7th March. With only a few days to wait, let's have a quick look at the patch notes, shall we?
Perhaps the biggest change in patch 1.07 is the addition of Mandarin Chinese voiceover, which will certainly add even more to the authenticity and atmosphere of the game. Outside of that, the patch is mostly focused on fixing issues and exploits. Camera problems throughout the title are addressed in this update, and some unintended infinite loops have been sorted out.
One gameplay change that may come as a relief to players is related to the shrine rewards. Before this update, any shrine rewards you earn are only saved if you complete a level under a certain age. With this patch installed, shrine rewards are saved regardless of the age at which you finish a stage.
Elsewhere, performance optimisations, crash fixes, and some tweaks to UI round out the update. It seems like a pretty substantial patch. Again, it isn't out just yet on PS5 and PS4 — you'll need to wait just a few more days — but it seems to be worth installing once it arrives.

I love this because when I started Sifu I was taken aback by the voice acting because I just assumed it would be in Chinese. I was surprised there was no option. I stopped playing it to play Horizon and now Elden Ring so I'm glad that when I start it again it'll have the Chinese option.
I'm interested to see how they improve the camera as that was my main criticism. Not sure how I feel about the shrine update though. I liked it the way it was.
Nice. Defenately be starting again with the new voice over. Luckily im only 2 levels in so it should be a breeze to get back to where i was.
From what ive played so far its an awsome game. Struggled to start with until it clicked and learned a few moves then i turned in to Ip Man and just started walking through people.
@johncalmc I'm in the same boat. I was really surprised at the lack of a Mandarin option. Even tho the gameplay is fantastic, I couldn't enjoy it. It's like watching Crouching Tiger with an English Dub, why???
@Krysus It seems really petty but it honestly did pull me out of it a bit. Every time they spoke it was irritating me. Like I can't imagine playing Ghost of Tsushima in English. Or Yakuza. Weirdly, I always play Persona games in English. Don't know why.
@johncalmc First thing I did with Ghost was enable Japanese dialogue. Even with the lack of lip sync at the time. Kurosawa mode was a bit much, but still gorgeous in spurts.
When I get the physical copy in May, I really want to change the language to something other than English, for that more authentic, kung-fu movie charm.
@Korgon It really sucks when you're trying to get the trophy where you beat the game at age 25 or under. If you already beat a level at age 20, and have suboptimal shrine buffs, and then restart a level after it the game deletes the buffs you had on that run, and overwrites it with the buffs you chose the first time you completed that level at that age.
So you could end up with one less buff if you took a shortcut, or garbage because of a run you did 20 hours ago. It really sucked. I don't think that was intended.
@Constable_What
That's fair. I finished the game but I didn't go for the platinum so maybe I'd change my tune had I tried for it. I just kind of liked the choice of either to skip battles and therefore shrines or go for the shrines and risk getting in more battles.
@Korgon I like that choice too. I wish individual runs were more self contained so that choice felt like it mattered more though.
Might wait for that Mandarin voice patch to play, will make it feel like a kung fu movie
@Grimwood I get what you mean! Some indies I just can't see myself paying more than $20 for, no matter how popular or amazing they seem.
@Grimwood I see, thanks for explaining!
Location specific voiceover is always cool to have. Definitely makes me more interested in picking up the game, the devs showing this sort of effort after release.
