Activision is serving up another phase of free online play for Call of Duty: Vanguard, allowing all PSN accounts to claim and play the multiplayer portion of the game from the PlayStation Store. Available starting tomorrow, the offer extends until Tuesday, 24th May 2022. Every map and mode currently in the game will be accessible to you, but you will have to commit some time to downloading the client.
The Call of Duty blog post notes how you'll be able to check out the new Mayhem multiplayer map, which arrives as part of Season Three. "Despite the map’s tiny layout, you’ll feel absolutely gargantuan as you battle through a small-scale replica of a metropolis. Fight among the skyscrapers in the center of the map, surrounded by an outer path where you can traverse an ocean or move off-set." If you're nostalgic for Call of Duty games are old, you can also duke it out on Dome, Castle, Radar, and Shipment.
In our Call of Duty: Vanguard PS5 review, we noted how the multiplayer portion housed tons of content at launch, which has only been expanded upon since. A "robust package", we called it. You'll also be able to see what Combat Pacing is all about; a new menu option that allows you to set the sort of action you want. Intense or slow-paced: your choice.

What can Activision do to save COD? Create a bigger 20 hour campaign? Change the setting? Return to the old setting?
Vanguard? I don’t wanna stand around and protect a stupid old van. Well, maybe if it’s the A-Team van…
@Bismarck They'll save COD by taking it away from playstation and feeding into the console war.
@Bismarck They already did something called warzone
regular COD is dead though because all the people who made COD good in the past are gone . most are at respawn killing it with apex too.
Oh, I actually left it on my hard-drive from one of the last free weekends. Might invest a few minutes again. It plays okay but then it's also my first (and only) COD game ever.
If they made the campaign playable it would have been worth a gander.
About the only nice thing I can say about Vanguard is that it’s better than Cold War.
They did the same on Xbox a few weeks back. Initially had zero interest in the games but ended up really enjoying the mp in this. Some of the new game modes really make things interesting. Will download and play again. But prob wait till it ultimately comes to gamepass next year now rather than buy
Love how every time there’s a new Activision Blizzard controversy their response is to just give another free period of potentially the worst CoD.
@nomither6 You forgot Gunfight, which isn't in Vanguard (replaced by the inferior Champion Hill), but is hands-down my favorite multiplayer mode of all time. 2v2 on 3-lane maps with all the same loadouts means all-skill, all-strategy, and not getting shot in the back ever again (unless you get outflanked big-time).
@stinkyx yeah , gunfight was good . that shouldve been a staple mode in COD a long time ago
