Longtime PlayStation fans will remember that the PS1 was host to some fantastic platformers. Crash Bandicoot is a household name, but less well known is the equally-epic Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.
Bandai Namco has released a trailer that shows off the opening cutscene of its upcoming Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series, a remaster of the original game, which will be bundled alongside its sequel, Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, and is set to launch on 8th July.
Released in 1997, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile was Namco's answer to Crash, a character platformer in which players controlled the titular Klonoa, an incredibly 90s looking anthropomorphic animal, on his adventures in Phantomile, a land fuelled by the dreams people have at night. Along with his ring-spirit friend, Huepow, it is up to Klonoa to save Phantomile from the evil spirit Ghadius, a dark spirit intent on turning Phantomile into a literal world of nightmares. It's pretty heavy stuff.
Besides the enhanced visuals, new difficulty modes will be added, in addition to some sort of co-op mode, although the particulars of that aspect have yet to be revealed. Will you be taking this trip down memory lane? Reminisce with us in the comments section below.

Hope this paves a way for a new game in the series, I'm always down to try new platformers, wish the industry made more platformers in general as these types of games have basically evaporated since ps2 era aside from Mario😪 Guess indie games are taking that mantle now at least, but would be nice to see a big budget platformer.
Already pre-ordered, I never had the chance to play these games, so I´m really curious, people say a lot of good things about them.
@GorosBat have you tried Super luckys tale? A surprisingly good 3d platformer
@Deljo I did, I enjoyed it thoroughly and got all achievements, specifically the New Super Lucky's tale version!
@GorosBat Ratchet And Clank Are Still Around And Most Likely Aren't Going Anywhere
I can’t wait for this. Klanoa was one of the very best PS1 games! I still run through it from time to time on the Vita.
@GorosBat yeah the 'New' version was great, still meaning to try it in vr. You're right though, there's not many about these days unfortunately
@Areus True, I'm more talking about pure platformers, Marios, Donkey Kongs, Rayman, Crash and Spyro. The Platformer genre is just pure bliss, stuff like the new Astro bot just puts smiles on everyone's faces. We only get maybe 1 or 2 quality platformers compared to the 50 + games we get in RPG, Shooter or Open World genres every year.
Its been ages since I played Klonoa 2, can't wait to re-play the game again!^^
The giggling has put me off a bit, but I'm still going to get it.
@Gbarsotini @GorosBat I've also never played the series, looking forward to finally experiencing Klonoa!
